  • I had my first session today at lucy peters in philadelphia Pennsylvania. It was done by an older lady with 15 years experience and she was really fast. She told me its going to take just 3 hours to clear my face. I did 30 minutes today instead of 1hr cuz I arrive late. Looking foward to my next appointment in 2weeks.

  • Hello?

  • @ everybody

    1) I'm an electrologist n I used the thermolysis method... Never have I taken 270 hrs to complete somebodys face... In fact most of my clients only came 1 x a mnth for 2 hrs max & hair growth was gone in 6 mnths... I only charged $40 back then...:0/

  • When you say 240 hours, you mean for your entire body right? Not just your face? My understanding of electrolysis is that each treated hair never grows back (unlike laser, which I tried once and had NO hair reduction). I am about to schedule my first electrolysis session and nervous about the pain and potential scarring, but I feel for the small areas I want treated (about a 2-inch area on both sides), it's my best option. How many hairs per hour can be permanently removied? Thanks.

  • wtf dude I was watching chemistry experiments

  • I didnt know you were born a man until u mentioned 'i probably have the amount of hair of a genetic female'

  • I hate it. I can not tolerate it. My beautician has two methods of electrolysis, one that uses a current passed through the follicle and one that uses a chemical reaction, you have to hold this metal thing in your hand while she does it. I hate them both. I can not tolerate the first method at all, but the second method is slightly better. I have not had laser because of the cost, but for the moment I have gone back to getting waxed.

  • Have you tried Apilus machine -latest form of machine in electrology? It's less painful and they can do more hair in less time. I did it and it was the best thing ever!!

  • @zjaz10 I'm currently doing this and am happy with the results, and very little pain.

  • So expensive.... I don't know how I'll ever be able to afford this.

  • would u recommend laser hair removal? and r the results permenant.

  • Can you have stuff for you legs? I hate having to shave or wax my legs is there anything to permanently remove hair on legs

  • Yaap Miss Electrolysis is the only permanent solution for Hair disorder, M Also an Electrologist n doing it in Pakistan Karachi n m getting so many worst cases of LAZER n after a complete session of treatments it is permanent gone even though females with hormone problm can b cure from it so EST OR WEST ELECTROLYSIS IS THE BEST :))

  • I have a question D:

I am brown, but have black belly hair.

    What should i do?

    Electrolysis or Laser?

  • @oogyboogysnoogy It really depends. I had bad experiences with laser but know so many people who had it done with good results. I think laser is supposed to work better on light skin and dark hair so I would think that electrolysis might work better.

  • @oogyboogysnoogy electrolysis generally darker skin needs lower setting hence not as effective,

  • really?

i thought, electrolysis was permanent? oh no.

  • @ddtoots it is when propally done goto an experienced person.

  • Thanks for the video; it was very informative. I hate to say it, but the more I find out about transition the more discouraged I get.

  • Why did you chose lazer at first?? Is it true that lazer is NOT perment???????????

  • I live in Canada. I went to two electrolysis and got 2 free consultations. The first one seemed a little unprofessional and the second clinic seemed to try and persuade me into getting lazer hair removel instead of electolysis.

  • $15,000 or $16,000?? Are you are you being serious?? I've stated HRT on December 20, 2009 and got my named legally changed on all of my idenification. Now its time for me to get take care

of my face hair. I thought it would only cost about 3,000. Am i wrong?

  • Hi Meghan - Great video! I'm making my 1st appointment soon and I was doing my research, this was really helpful! Question - I've read online that electrolysis was permanent? If so, why are you still going back year after year? Are there just some stubborn hairs that can survive repeated electrolysis?

  • The thing with hair is that it grows in cycles. Sometimes you can have a hair pop out, get zapped and not show up again for a year or two. In my case, I could easily pluck the 20 or 30 that pop up but I just go get them zapped. Plucking isn't good, it supposedly drives the root deeper. I actually look at my electrolysis time as a time of relaxation, lol. Those hairs do need to be zapped several time to die though, sometimes 4-5.

  • Ouch! Thanks for the info. God, you mentioned the costs... no wonder why so many of us are poorer than poor, that's nuts... Thanks so much for your answers, you're wonderful!! xoxo :D

  • thank you for making this video. i had my consult today. i am getting it done from a transwoman who works from home for $50, per 50 min hour.... i start this coming tuesday... ahhh!

  • I'm not sure what you mean by 2 inches down, but from what I understand, and I'm not an expert, you would want to remove all the hair in the area around the base of the shaft roughly the size of a donut. Again, I'm no expert, but I did read that somewhere.

  • Pardon my ignorance, but why do they require you to be bald downstairs before having SRS?

Couldn't you just shave before hand and allow or have growth afterward?

I'm kind of lost as to why they require this.

    Thanks muchly.

  • I believe it is because some of the skin that is at the base of the male parts ends up on the inside after surgery, and if it is not removed ahead of time you would end up with hair inside your new vagina, and it is also probably much more difficult to remove after the fact.

  • That makes sense.

So would it be safe to say about two inches down would be enough?

I'm just wondering how much of your hair downstairs needs to be removed or are you forced to be bald forever after you have SRS.

  • Now that you have transitioned and are full time, how are you able to grow the hair out a couple of days without weird reactions from people?

  • I grow my hair for like 2 weeks now. Once you've been zapped many times that hair grows back in it's final stages very light and very thin. I might have 100 of them on my whole face spread all over. They aren't like regular hairs. Once I get to like 2 weeks, they are like 1/4" long and kind noticeable, lol.

  • so do you have an amount of facial hair that doesn't need to be shaven now? i was just thinking how obsessive a mtf could get over electrolysis. they may have gotten rid of all the terminal hair, but then they may want to get really meticulous and start getting rid of vellous or those white peach fuzz hairs. there's probably even mtf transsexuals who never got any facial hair, but they might feel that because they went through puberty as a male, that they must have something extra.

  • Electrolysis in my case has only one name. PAIN!!!! I have the theory that if you can do 5 sessions of electrolysis, you will transition without a problem. I only wish some of the people who bash us for being trans, get the opportunity to go through a couple of sessions of electrolysis.

  • The pen is called a stylus with probe attached to it. We never call it a needle....lol.....I tried laser and I was burned as well which led me to electrolysis. Thats a smart idea to sleep during your sessions.....Ive done the same as well. Great video and very informative Meghan

  • Thanks for the video. I did 2.5 hours yesterday morning. My face has been clear for several months so now I get a complete clearing every time I come in about once every 4 weeks. I use emla also but the areas you said hurt the most are the same for me. The center of the mustache area just brings uncontrollable tears but the pain is worth the long term goal

  • how is your family?

  • With transition? They are very accepting and they love me. I'm extremely grateful that they have loved me throughout my transition. That's the way they raised me, you always love family, there's nothing you can do to lose that.

  • Wow, I could probably never do that. You are tough, heh.
