What is a good way to keep track of repeating patterns? Index cards or? I have a terrible time keeping track of where I am in a pattern!
Yes, your videos are the BEST online. wonderful. I can tell you really enjoy what you are doing. In this time of great stress, my friends and I have returned to knitting. Better than meditation, etc and you end up with a beautiful project! My one problem right now are acquaintances who see my work and beg me for them...I've only kept a few projects.
Thank you, Knitwitch. I'm new to knitting. Your videos are wonderful & helped me get from garter stitch to actually making a dishcloth with hearts! Now I'm doing one that is a little more complicated & your videos have cleared up my questions on how to do the stitches I could not figure out how to do. Now if I could just stop getting confused about the repeats and losing count, I would be finished with this today. Thank you. Great videos!
Knit witch - you are a Godsend! Your instructions on here are the best! I didn't think I was a beginner until I came to instructions that say " ...last 2 stitches ssk"!
Hells' bells I'm learning lots from you! Much appreciated! I just wish my pattern instructions would then state the new number of stitches I should have. I'm hoping as I continue on that it will all work out fine.
Problem I have is that when ever I'm not knitting or purling and I'm just moving my stitches (or slipping them) it's hard for me to remember whether the stitches are knit-wise or purl-wise
I thank you thank you THANK YOU!! Knitwitch ROCKS!! I've had such a hard time understanding the knitting "lingo" when following patterns but with your videos I just hop on and learn in within a few seconds!
Thank you so much for your awesome advanced technique sharing. I usually do projects that require more basic stitches, but I am working on some gloves that need this stitch, and I had no idea how to do it. I looked it up and saw an illustration, but it wasn't the same. Being able to watch you do it, and then actually see the finished project is wonderful. Much appreciation!!!!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that after demonstrating the technique, you're showing the example of what the stitch looks like in the kniiting. So helpful, and very clear! :)
This was awesome. Thank you so much! I knit through the BACK, so my SSKs always came out bad :/ Seeing a video helped put it into perspective for me :)
You are a life saver! I'm taking on a baby blanket project and the directions in the back of the book are NONSENSE! Thank you for making it so clear! (It's SO easy!!)
I find it hard to understand instructions in writing and relate them to practical kniting, but if i am SHOWN, then I only need to see it one time and i am ok with it.
Wow, thankyou so much,I've been knitting for a couple of years, but these videos help me so much to clear up questions I might have. Your instrucitons are so clear.
knitwitch your slow and clear speaking on each step of whatever knitting technique it is is what keeps me coming back to your demonstrations. Thank you for your basic
thank you! this was just what i needed :) im making a hat and it need SSK in the end - havent done it before so i was kinda confused what to do. thank you again!
whenever i am making something and i have a brain freeze or don't know how to do something you totally save my day, and my project. life saver videos! thank you !
Hey knitwitch... your videos are PRICELESS! Lifesavers. Would you be willing to explain the difference between SSK and K2Tog? I don't understand the difference between the two. Why use one rather than the other? Aren't they essentially the same thing???
They are essentially the same thing except that they slant in different directions. So, you would use (generally) an ssk on the right side of your row and a k2tog on the left side of your row so that they will look balanced. Otherwise the knitting will look a little "off kilter" if your decreases all slant in the same direction.
Thank you so much for making all of these. Whenever I need to learn a new stitch I look up your video on it. You should sell these all together on a CD!
You're so wonderful for posting this vid! I watched a whole bunch of instructional videos trying to figure out this stitch, but yours was the only one I found that I understood. What a lifesaver!
I am using this for armhole decreasing, and you have made it SO easy .. thanks for your excellent tutorial videos .. a guy who knits and crochets .. Will
Thanks Knitwitch for your explanation of ssk. Before I was too intimidated to try knit patterns that had this technique in it. But I know how to do it now.
Thank you. I have been knitting since a child but went south on this one. All my books are piled in the back of the closet. It was much easier going to the web. This was great.
Does ssk and the ssk psso version work THE SAME? Do you have a video that shows them side by side? I found out in some socks I am doing a lace pattern and I have ripped it out so much... uGH! I found it asked for ssk and I did the ssk psso as I did not know the difference.. I will now try this, what a great help.. have to frog about 3 inches but maybe i can get it right. You are a GREAT knitter! See my spinning videos.. I am good at that! but on my way to better knitting,
vedoes are very good thank you so much. i need help im trying to knit a scarf but have run out of my first ball of wool and need to carry on but dont no how to add my second ball of wool in without pulling it out do you have any clips on how to help me please x
Simply pick up the new yarn and start knitting with it! Be sure to leave at least a 6 inch tail to weave in later. It will be lose at first but you can go back and tighten up the stitches after you have knit a couple of rows.
Hi! Thanks for the video.. I have a question! I only just started learning how to knit. I was was wondering how you would do a decrease on the purl row of your knitting? Because I tried SSK on the purl row and it went all wrong. >_<
thanks you. your instructions are very clear.

BTW, these are GREAT videos!!! thank you!!!!!!

yb stands for "yarn in back" which means to move your yarn to the back for the next stitch(s).

why couldn't you knit 2 together through the back loops? is there a difference?
ajryan4444 2 years ago 2
You could but the ssk will keep the yarn from stretching a little so the stitch may end up looking a bit "neater".
