  • The only place that glorifies violance is in football and in Glasgow in particular. You've got Celtic fans singing pro-provisional IRA songs and Rangers fans singing "snap a fenian's legs" or whatever it is.

Forget them and all that nonsense. That will be Scotland's problem hopefully if they get indepenence lol

  • Proud of this moment. Even more so was my own mother. She's the Irish girl and although she's not lived in Cork for 30 years she is still a proud Irishwoman. She hated any kind of violance.

I know on both sides a lot of innocent people have been killed. Can't change that but what we can do is build a better Ireland and a better United Kingdom where we are friends. To be fair, I always enjoy my trips to Dublin which I make regularly for business.

  • There'll alway's be an ENGLAND.GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

  • The majority of us in the North want to remain part of Britain, and that is why Northern Ireland remains in the Union. It has nothing to do with colonialism or squatters or anything like that. We are British and have been for many hundreds of years; and that is only officially. Genetically the people of Britain and Ireland are exactly the same, there is not one person in Ireland that does not have British heritage in the last 100 years and vice versa.

  • @xxksaoXX You speak words of great wisdom and i commend you on that, from someone who is an Englishman of 40 odd year's,who lives in Essex.

Just one thing though, could Ireland please come and take back all Irish gipsy travellers, they are nothing but absolute trouble to the community and give true Irish people a very bad name.

  • @viewfinder777 They're twice as much trouble to us :L we unfortunately have more, much more of them than you do

  • .

    Éirinn go Brách

    .

  • As a person who dwells in these, our Islands, I find this profoundly moving

  • Filthy Irish, They should be proud to have been British and content with there place in the world as a part of the greatest empire the world had ever know, but no what did they do, they sided and aided with Nazi's in WWII and killed thousands of civilians in the years after including members of her majesties family. Her majesty was too generous to grace them with her presence and in my opinion We Brits just need to wait until the next potato shortage before the Irish come crawling back!

  • @mak34237 Like all great empires in the past Britain has fallen :) first the USA had a crack at them then the Irish came alone and by 1921 Britain was destroyed by the very country they did not fear :) you see thats why every country in the world Loves the Irish and hates the English :) ur queen came running to us to make peace and we accepted it :) im so glad I live in the greatest country in the world and most of all that im an Irish man a pure breed :) Eireann Go Brach fuck! England

  • @reyjay07 greatest country in the word? I never thought I would have somebody say that to me about Ireland, considering your nation debt has exceeded your GDP.lol its funny really you are a citizen of a great country because you are actually British in that you live in the British Isles. So I agree you should be proud to be a British you have a proud history of victories over the greatest powers of the world Irish history includes Nazi collaboration terrorist attacks and a big debt.

  • @mak34237 nope i live in the republic of ireland and im a proud big strong irish man pure bred :) ur pic is u in army suit? fairplay fighting in a war u started and will never win ur fighting terrorist and ur record against them is brutal look what us terrorists did to ya :) its like as bad as england in penos haha yeah sure who cares id rather help the nazis than the english anyday. were in debt? u owe more than us! and u gave us money haha so thanks lad u lost to us get over it...

  • @reyjay07 You know you sound like an idiot and make the rest of Irish people sound like idiots. Please, for the rest of us, just shut up.

  • @tranquilnightmares Mind your own buisness, I can make my people look like the idiot's but no matter what I do your country will always been seen as bad because of what it's done...

  • @reyjay07 I am Irish and I live in Ireland. Of course Britain did some bad things but the majority of Irish people have gotten over it. Why dwell on the past? What good will it do us? Get over it.

  • @reyjay07 lol quite a 'colourful' interpretation of history. green tinted spectacles one might say old chap. :)

  • @gramule Nobody were I live says "old chap"and by colourful yes... one might say Green White and Orange.

  • @reyjay07 the fact is the irish wanted this visit, desperately, we are led to believe. the queen graciously accepted. everyone is happy. ps. your green/white/orange tinted spectacles have selectively filtered out the bailout. in the same year as the queens visit, your country was virtually bankrupt. the uk (not your 'friends' in european countries) willingly came to your aid, and gave you £ 7 billion = 8.38806202 billion euro. the help you survive. hope this helps.

  • @gramule

  • @gramule its funny how people in europe like urself seem to forget that for years we were the most successful country in the eu due to our low corporate tax and great workers therefore lent countries like urselfs money when we had it... now we want it back and thank you for it :) remember without us ur country would be fucked 60% of ur cargo and food comes fron Ireland so u had no choice but to give us money for ur own good... ur pesky 16th century government know that...

  • @reyjay07 sorry. you are now tarred with the same brush as greece, spain, italy and the others as being totally unable to manage your economy. hence the bail out of the massive £7billion = 8.38806202 billion euro. that meant some sacrifice by us. your prime minister/president pleaded with us to do it. i suggest you take the issue up with them, they obviously had no problems with the 'pesky 16th century government' as they came cap in hand. once again great britain to your aid. hope this helps.

  • @gramule did u not just read my last comment about "great" britain needing ireland? its amazing because we got the loan and were meeting all our targets the imf sent us infact the eu said that if other countries were to be in trouble ireland is a perfect example of how to pull threw it. Were well known for standing up to big empires you of all people should know that...

  • @reyjay07 lol. 6.5 million or 62 million inhabitants, with their respective spending powers. tail wagging dog is your argument. as you have a 'bee in your bonnet' i suggest that you take your issues up with your president and prime minister, as they are obviously not shared by them. i will re-iterate. fact. ireland pleaded with us for the bail out. fact. ireland was desperate for her majesty to visit. fact. the world has moved on. as tanquilnightmares has said to you...get over it. old chap.

  • @gramule 6.5 million irish people in ireland 50 million in the usa 15 million in australia 1 million in argentina 5 million in england and 1.6 million in canada. we didnt pleed for ur money ur prime minister said and i quote ireland is a neighbour in need :) the queen needed to come and i also liked the way she said sorry at her dinner speech then obama came and he had a great laugh and a pint of guinness cause hes "irish" everyone wants to be irish :) talk to ya later lad.

  • @reyjay07 rofl. obama doing the tourist 'pint of guiness' and a laugh does not mean he wants to be irish! i think that you are embarasing your countrymen, look some of their posts..I am Irish, why dwell on the past.. Get over it...without england, we would be insignficant...Thank God the Queen came, we were world news for once...although you find it difficult. do. do try to face your countrymen, the president and prime minister with these issues. lashing out is just not cricket. hope this helps

  • @gramule lad ur no irish man speaking like that. obama wants the irish vote like jfk and bill clinton i know that. no were a great country and never needed england were loved throughout the world unlike england which is hated and u know that. were always world news grand slams, world cups, euros, eurovision, olympics we even have a day called st pathricks day were people celebrate ireland. were a great country and we made london, sydney and america i rest my case. dia beannaigh ireland.

  • @reyjay07 lol. ignore my previous comments from your irish bretheren, if you so wish. as i said, take your issues to them, your prime minister and president. the irish are known for spinning tales. 6.5 million or 62 million inhabitants, if i were president of the us, i think i would know who matters in the world. my irish friend says that you are 'an embarrasing eejit', and a' dinosaur'. ps. in 2012, i hope that you enjoy; the olympic games, dickens's 200 years, the queens diamond jubilee etc..

  • @gramule ur defo not irish considering u think my president can change things hes just a symbol like the queen and we dont have a prime minsiter... im glad u took the time outta ur sad life to talk about me with ur friends thats a bit sad... ill watch a bit ill watch katie taylor win gold :) but mostly ill be busy watching ireland in the euros and ireland in the 6 nations beating england for a record 9-1 :O theres more of us world wide remember that :)

  • @reyjay07 as my irish mate says, 'saddo, stuck in the past'' and that you 'need to wake up and get over your inferiorty complex.' eamon assures me that your views are deffo not shared by the majority of other irish folk, and you truly are a 'dinosaur', a dying breed . he points out that to get on, have a better quality of life, more opportunities, and feel that you are engaging with the world and vice versa, you have to move to the UK. i wont repeat what he said about living in eire.....end of.

  • @gramule tell ur bum chum eamon that hes a fag... im 6.1" 133 and go to the gym 5 times a week and im 18 so i dont think ill be dying any time soon. You enjoy paying for the queen to sit down all day and live the life of reilly. ill just be here living in Eire having great craic l8rz lad...

  • @reyjay07 eamon has said 'this guy is ill-educated, to resort to insults, has a massive, inferiority complex. if this sad eejit feels so strongly anti-english, reject everything that the 'enemy' have brought to eire starting with what is the world language english' (who speaks gaelic!) look at the recent posts from your countrymen. 'proud of this moment'.. 'humbled'..'honour the queen came here'.ps. world war two, who stood against nazism, while some countries stayed 'neutral'? food for thought.

  • @reyjay07 pps. eamon says you DO have a prime minister (you said... and we don't have a prime minister...) you should know that your prime minister/taoiseach is enda kennedy. doh! eamon is totally, totally emabarrased by, and has apologised for a fellow countryman (even though now he lives here, working for the BBC)

  • @gramule We dont have a prime minister we have a taoiseach...DUH... look i dont care i dont wana know about u and ur boyfirend or were you work.

  • ah fuck sake that was mary macs chance to mention a united ireland put her on the spot

  • Mary McAleese: Wow, wow, wow. He he he, it's just too funny.....God bless equal rights but ha.

  • So sad she wont be our president after oct/nov :,(

  • Hey how come Mary McAleese doesn't get a state visit when she visits the UK.

  • As Phil Ochs said, I declare the war is over! :-)

  • Great Speech from Mary McAceese , ending her presidency on a high...

Disappointed to see that Brian Cowan wasn't applauding the queen speaking Irish .. think it was a great symbolic recognition of respect for the Irish people, language and culture from the queen ,,, Shows us as equals as the president said

  • I am an Irish descendany and am very Proud of my Irish Heritage and I would like to thank the queen for her bravery apologizing for the past...yet I still say there will be no peace in Ireland as Long as the north is under british control

  • The past has gone lets all of us one and all go forward .MARY MCALEESE and The Queen have shown us all we need to for get the past once and for all .Let all the people of Ireland go forward . To MARY MCALEESE THANKYOU

  • It was wonderful to hear the Queen speaking in Irish. Such a surprise and she got the pronunciation right as well . Both speeches were just about perfect. Very well done.

  • @paddywalsh333 Yes, two terrific women who did both countries proud. It also shows how important is the role and job of head of state. I thought Cowan looked very uncomfortable! I'd reserve more ire for the bankers and developers however, who precipitated and accelerated the financial disaster, criminals whom regrettably our state in still paying to stay in business.

  • It's a great day!!

  • This is the beginning of a new era between us and our neighbors. Very happy with how it's all gone. As a proud Irishman and even more so a Corkonian I'm delighted that her final visit is to our city. To the future folks!

  • 16:33 Yer one noddin off

  • @TheSaladTube There's always one!!

  • @paddywalsh333 McAleese should also be tried for treason inviting millionaires to a banquet to stuff themselves while people in Ireland suffer at the hands of the rich.

  • @TomBarry192I Respect your President . If you're a real Republican, that is. But I suspect you're just a crank.

  • great day for Ireland,so proud and so glad to be alive to witness this historic event. Hope to one day see a united ireland via peaceful means alone.

The legacy of colonisation is slowly being eroded over generations. personally i wept as I watched this yesterday, healing old genetic and unconscious scars i did not know i possessed. To peace and prosperity for Britain and Ireland forever.

  • the queen is so cute lol shes like a we teddy bear :) such a lovely speech im praying every night that people will open their hearts and the troubles wil end FULLY..... long live british and irish united forever. :) ps if anyone tries to break these bonds im gonne break them...aka disidant ira lol im irish and proud of it but the disidant IRA make me sick......no one wants yous so get out.... >:(

  • great speeches by both Mary McAleese and the Queen!

  • god bless! this is wonderful news indeed.

  • I couldn't be prouder or more emotional. This is a great day to be Irish and to be British and there haven't been many days up to now where its been possible to say that. Hats off to President McAleese for a wonderful speech and the gracious response from her majesty the Queen whose personal conduct has always been beyond reproach. To be able to acknowledge our pride in the creation of our nation in front of an English monarch is quite an achievement. Thanks to belfastjack for posting.

  • Amazing! Excellent job done by all so far - very proud to be Irish this week!

  • This is excellent. Pity about the chairs . Seriously though peaceful, creative and great. I hope the young think we're all mad fightn. theyll sort it out. neutral escapade.

  • @fattyjah yes i think you oldies are crazy for fighting lol......i was half brought up to beware of protestants because theyll hurt me and brought up to want a united ireland......but im 17 and old eough to make my own decision and i couldnt give a flying F**k about a united ireland im soooooooo glad that hopefully these troubles are coming o a complete end. i love british people and british culture and ive even started to convicne my dad that the past is the past and to stop hating.

  • I have a new respect for the Queen now, I thought it was a fantastic speech and very big of her. Thanks for this belfastjack. All the best.

  • What beautiful speeches! Well done to both Mary McAleese and her Majesty the queen. I think it was beautiful for the queen to have opened her speech as Gaeilge. So proud to be irish !

  • Someone should have knocked glasses with the Queen

  • I'm from Germany,

this speach could almost also be given at britisch-german ceremony.

salutations to britain and Ireland, from you're continental nieghbor.

To peace and prosperity in all our countries.

    Go mbeannai

  • Thanks for this Jack....it is indeed a piece of history.

  • Thank God for majority rule, the majority of people in Ireland & Northern Ireland want peace.

Historic and now hopefully we can move forward together!

  • I'm Italian, living in Cork. I love both Ireland and UK. I'm so happy for what has been done. The Queen paying tribute to Irish fallen and a warm Irish welcome to Her Majesty. Both these speeches were very good (McAleese's one in particular). This visit is extraordinary and I really hope it'll mark a fresh start for a better future for both countries!

  • @KeivanHH Well said!
