Going this Sunday ( 7/3/11 ) :) should I arrive early?? Is it true that they get packed and sell out tickets like they say on their website? Should I get the tour guide or is it self explanatory?? Hopefully I get an answer soon:)
This estate is absolutely beautiful as is the amazing view of the river, even if it is the dirty Potomac...lol. Although I know that when Washington was living, the Potomac was nowhere near the filthy, polluted mess that it is today...
He was an adulterer. He died because a bullet wound he recieved after being shot in the back while sneaking out of a married womans bedroom by her husband, got infected and turned into pnuemonia
@tbursee That is perhaps the most retarded, ahistorical, revisionist bullshit I've ever heard, and just for the record dealing with retarded, ahistorical, revisionist bullshit is what I do. You're number one at something. Congratulations!
Last September my wish came true and I was able to spend many hours walking the grounds of this incredible plantation. Better yet, I spent some time alone on the piazza and had an opportunity to reflect what it must have been like back in the General's day.
My wife and I were just their on Sept.28. The house was nice but it was the great view off the back porch of the Potomac river that I fell in love with!
5 stars. Thanks for vid w/o idiotic comment or music! Well done. Also, your description has an error: Internment means to confine. Interment means burial. He was interred at MV.

This is the view from the back of the house looking over the Potomac.
I was there with my mother once and we both loved Mount Vernon.
She sat out back and raved about the scenic beauty.
Thank you for sharing this video.
