This is the view from the back of the house looking over the Potomac.

I was there with my mother once and we both loved Mount Vernon.

She sat out back and raved about the scenic beauty.

This estate is absolutely beautiful as is the amazing view of the river, even if it is the dirty Potomac...lol. Although I know that when Washington was living, the Potomac was nowhere near the filthy, polluted mess that it is today...

Last September my wish came true and I was able to spend many hours walking the grounds of this incredible plantation. Better yet, I spent some time alone on the piazza and had an opportunity to reflect what it must have been like back in the General's day.
