Thats the thing with fashion. At the time it seems great, and 15 years later we look back and thing WTF was I doing!?
But actually I think she looked fab in the 60's. Much better than she did in the 80's! Her hair and makeup aren't all that flattering here. But her personality is as sparky and humorous as always.
She was 41 here. . I'm really sorry to say that I think she aged very well ~ she looks a lot older than 41.. It's not a criticism. Just an observation.. She was wonderful.
Interesting how the interviewer makes much of Dusty's appearance in the 1960s (and finds it funny). Actually, Dusty always looked charming back then. The baby doll dresses, the neat upswept hair, the dark eyes - all looked great on her because she had a wonderful figure. She was very elegant. A far cry from the awful shaggy perm days that followed!
I just wish she had have said it was a woman - only coz he was looking sheepish when he said 'him' and she was looking sheepish when she was saying about HIM, mind you - I too have been guilty of doing that actually when you can't be arsed saying it how it really is. Bless her xxx
@nudiibranch I do too, but at that time, we didn't have an "Ellen, KD Lang, Melissa Etheridge. It must have been so difficult for her. She was terrific!
Eyes like a panda??? I don't think so! That was the style. She was georgeous then, and when I look at the footage from the 60's, she is still beautiful.
Wow... How bold of her to announce her pending marriage. Actually it was to another woman, Teda Bracci. Dusty was really ahead of her time, and very, very brave.
This is from 81, she was in a relationship with Carole Pope, a Toronto musician. Teda was after that. Read the book Dancing with Demons, her "authorized" Bio.
Wasn't only the 1980's. I would say it's only the past 10 years or even less that people have felt able to admit it without being treated like a pariah.

Wasn't Teda the one who hit Dusty over the head with a frying pan and then knocked out her teeth with it?

Yep she's the one. Apparently their relationship was a genuine disaster.

Springfield came out as bisexual in 1972, exchanged vows with a little-known American actress, Teda Bracci.

My only thought....DUSTY IN SYDNEY! Dusty in my home town! If only I were alive in 1981!
I wonder did she ever come back?

I think this was Dusty's last time in Oz, she was here in 1964, 1967 at the nightclub club Chequers and in 1969 at the Chevron Hotel. Regards, Kathy

How awful that Dusty felt she had to lie about her sexuality. Guess that was the 80's for you. RIP Dusty. x

@strawberrygirrl ...who cares, not everyone who is gay feels the need to be out and proud. Maybe she didn't feel like having to explain herself.

Yes dear, I know.
Guess I was just trying to figure out why the lie...married in a month! Do we know what year this interview? Thanks!

Getting married to a tall dark Toronto musician.....? Carole Pope??? OMG!
OctoberOhio 3 years ago
Dusty 'married' (not legally recognized) in 1983 (California) with an American: Teda "Ted" Bracci. They separated a few years later.
Dusty had a relationship with Carole Pope.
