  • Incredibly, this is love, suffering, happiness, sadness, birth, death ... we played a whole life in just 90 seconds, so the soul is in every tone that is played that amazing vibrato gives me the creeps.

  • WTF? This men is Dragonforce or what the fucking are Doing this Fricking Crazy men?

  • The guitar playing is conflicting with the piano. And it sounds like Super Mario sounds. This is shit.

  • This is fucking awesome, but, to be honest, it could've used somewhat more reverb, like the testdrive of the Dean RC8.

And feeling? Pure anger propel these bends and shreds.

  • I hope you people realise that the song is titled "prelude to madness", meaning "prelude to insanity" and not "prelude to anger". I don't believe this song has been composed in anger, i believe it has been composed, based around the idea of a descent into insanity, whether it be a slow descent, or a trauma induced plummet.

  • why is rustys guitar tone so horrible is soundd good on the other video

  • Hard to believe that crap is Rusty...

  • this song has so much emotion..soo soulful..so tech. that its almost not creative to the evryday humans ear.i hear it loud and clear!

  • This is the most beautiful thing ive herd in a long time :') whats the name of this album !

  • This is amazing. But, i cant help but feel like its weirdly off time. like with the music, its a milisecond too late with the melody, and the weird plugging that accompanies the notes in the beginning (best explanation I can use to describe it) is a little off-putting. No doubt the sound of his fingers hitting the fretboard but, I dunno. sounds off. His shredding is almost second to none though (unless it actually is). Huge props, love the song.

  • THIS IS MADNESS!

  • I think people don't seem to understand that this shit is painstakingly composed and that yes, frantic anger is an emotion too. If you want spur of the moment guitar solos with tons of "feeling", watch this guy improvise live. If emotion is something you can only hear in slow blues with bends and slides, maybe the problem isn't with rusty cooley's amazing mastery of his instrument; maybe it's with your underdeveloped ear. The best musicians say fuck you to their egos and just enjoy the music.

  • check out the video of rusty playing this on his 8 string guitar.. its even better

  • Holy shit, I heard this a while ago and it was awesome. I heard it just now and it was twice as awesome. Outworld need more publicity, I think...

  • where is it

  • I heard a different version of this that sounded much better way more feeling. Still Outworld just recorded earlier.

  • WTF does feeling even mean? I hate people who use that word.

  • Well the way it was recorded just had way more balls to me than the way this one sounds. His guitar was much more powerful it sounds weaker here in comparison.

  • This is from Outworld's album, the version to which you refer is from an old demo CD they used to sell on the Outworld site. The recording quality of this version is clearly much clearer and compressed sounding than the last which had a more 'thrashy' sound quality to it. It used to be on Rusty's site back in the day too. I bought the Demo because I also preferred the original but my mind has changed since. The demo also has an old version of 'City Of The Dead' on it and 'Concentration Camp'.

  • Which was renamed on the Outworld CD, I can't remember what to and Raise Hell is also on there. The version of City Of The Dead utterly rules I think. Brilliant stuff.

  • n3r3m4c speaks the truth.

  • they can't tell whether the quality is in the phrasing or the tune is well arranged, played or produced and so on. but most times, they just mean that listening to a tune gives them a 'happy' feeling. LOL

  • That's exactly what I meant. If you don't understand the concept of feeling and soul you aren't much of a musician. I just felt this sounds more like a demo then the demo version of this song. Listen to any demo from a huge band and then listen to the final mastered product, the demo usually has no balls or feeling to it, it's just flat, that's how this version sounds to me. The other one he had a verb and delay on that might have helped improve the ambience of the track.

  • you don't know music. feeling and soul are street talk. demos usually have more attack, although sloppy, but this sounds like he had just memorized the staff.

  • exactly. most people use it as a way to trash good guitarists like "they dont use feeling". bullshit! these assholes dont even know what theyre really saying. and think bout it, people like rusty cooley or jeff loomis must spend a fucking long time and effort making a fucking awesome solo. wheras (not bashing him btw) Slash writes a solo which is simple, but is "amazziiinngggg" just coz he does shit loadsa blues. thats fucking balls. all solos, as long as theyre played well are amazing.

  • @REDTEARS667 Well said... +1 =)

  • @REDTEARS667

another thing that is really annoying is when ppl think that the solo is supposed to be note for note! it seems so irritating, who would want to memorize 20 bajillion notes, when you can just improvise them on the spot? if you can't improvise solos, your not a guitarist.

  • @REDTEARS667 Yeah... people who say that sorta crap are basically just jealous because they can't play this stuff.

  • @REDTEARS667

Music that is played well, but without any emotion, is simply a display of technical ability, and not in any way, a display of artistic ability.

  • @rich8642 FUCK YOU

  • @n3r3m4c People usually use it so sum up Bluesy solos, played slowly and stuff... any in their right mind could tell this solo has a shit load of "feeling" but those people that just wave that word around mostly dont know wtf they are talking about...

  • Feeling means not knowing any music theory and just bending the shit out of the minor pentatonic.

  • @n3r3m4c dont hate man.the best way to explain it to u is through my own experiences i guess. feeling means when u play any musical instrument & u get lost in it and somehow go into a different world where all troubles and worries are lost...u dont care whose watching or listening and u dont really care about anything during that certain moment...its when u play a series of notes that project ur true feeling of emotions into the instrument and that instrument plays how u feel...idk its crazy lol

  • @n3r3m4c ya i hate those retards too, i think they want u to do stupid faces while u play guitar

  • What album is this song on?

    Btw the song is awesome!

  • shit.

  • im pretty sure there is nothing this guy does that is not on purpose. plus progressive is notorius for doing shit that sounds off or odd and selling it lol.

  • his vibrato is very good. George lynches is better but either way he's very good.

  • S'all subjective. Personally I love most of what he's ever done and this song nearly alone has inspired me to get an 8 string. Rusty's never played to a metronome so he just floats around as he pleases in alot of the leads, I like both tight leads and this approach, they're both good for their own thing.
