Nuts. Looks like a rough day out on the launch field. You may want to refer to FAA FAR Part 31 for the required legal minimum structural margins for manned hot air balloons. It's pretty easy to achieve these minimum strength levels. Sounds like you put a ton of labor into building this balloon! As a point of reference, I recently finished an AX-6 (56,000 cubic foot) balloon made from ripstop nylon. Total labor was about 120 hours. You can check out my high wind launch, on here.
i think it veeer excelent specially that it didnt take the burnner wwit it u do it at the right time it b great do like 5 at a time pple b callin the news bout ufos ahahah nice work
Awesome Balloon. You need to do this early in the morning - around 7:00am or in the evening about 1.5hrs before sunset. You might talk to a local hot air balloon pilot in your area. Good luck.
did u make that cos if u did ur gud and better than me, how big is it and what diameter is it, check out mine type in solar balloon flight to youtube search
it is a school project, it is made of mylar and took 1 year to design and build. It took four of us 3 weeks working 40 hour weeks each to cut tape and build the balloon. It is 44 feet in diameter and is powered by a propane burner that it was supposed to carry with it. Since it tore away from our baseplate it is going to need a lot of repair.
it was recovered but required some work since we built a tear away system to prevent it from getting too far.

Sorry about the project, but love the idea! It's inspired a few clips, but nothing this spectacular. Excellent!

It was anchored into the ground to rip if the balloon went over 500 ft.

did you find the balloon anywhere on the ground???

at the end of the video you can see where the balloon landed in the fairway at a local golf course a couple miles down the road.
