I can do regular pull ups up to 8 reps but I'll try the second one since I like the idea of putting your muscles under such tension with that slow-mo.
I have also found that if I break the pull up into two parts (so either only going half way up and then coming back down ---- or starting from half way point and not coming fully down) as helped me increase my reps when doing full pull-ups
