Also regardless of your alignment, what hope did the conservatives have in 1997 just looking at the broadcasts. Do it 1997 had a broadcast full of hope, happiness and future, where the "New Labour/New Danger" one was just dismal and depressing. It didn't change anyones opinion of Labour, and it definetely didn't change anyones opinion of the conservative party at all.
This is coming from someone who currently supports the Conservative Party also. This was just a pathetically bad campaign.
Conservatives labour liberal democrats all the same shit, all they do is lie then when they get in spend a few years fucking everything up, and then piss off and work for a hedge fund earning thousands while we pay for their mistakes. And they wonder why people don't bother voting.
The Tories warned the British public in 1997 (as in 1992) of what would happen if a 'New' Labour government won elected office. Well it's 2011 and we are now realising the full scale of Labour's disastrous 13 years in power.
Imagine how different Britain would look today if we'd just put all the media hype, the sound-bites, the deceitful grins and faux sincerity to one side and actually focused on the very real achievements of John Major's government between 1992 and 1997?
@classicalliberal11 I think the 1997 election was the death of the super government where more focus was put on sound economic policies than party image. New Labour wasn't a party it was a PR stunt that worked over a Conservative government that was too focused on avoiding another black Wednesday to work on its dated image. You are right though, GDP was left gleaming just before labour won, shame they couldn't return the favour when they left.
I don't even know why the Tories bothered. They didn't stand a chance of winning the 97 election, especially with this half-arsed attempt at publicity.
This person has taken this video from me. He also has cut part of it off. Please see this video in full on my channel. And remember, New Labour New Danger.
- Although a lot of what they said happened!

Not hard to see how Labour won a landslide when you see how awful this campaign broadcast is.
