  • tricky thinks to shoot magpie

  • @strud34 Yes it can be.

  • another brilliant video, I wish I could find land to shoot on....there is a farm in the next road but he wont let anyone on it, it's very frustrating coz every time I go past the field is full of corvids

  • @Cancerape Yeah that is a pain. But try and get to know the farmer offer to help out around the farm, in time if he see's he can trust you you might get permission.

  • @HuntersVermin I have never managed to get to speak to the farmer in person, all I get at the gate is his scummy eastern-european immigrants who can barely speak english.....I should offer to dispose of them as well :/

  • @Cancerape Ahh maybe not such a good idea.

  • @Cancerape Get the farmer your helping at the moment to put a good word in for you. if not i'm afraid those corvids will just have to irritate you a while longer.

  • Cool

  • i like the magpie/crow videos the best because there the hardest quarry. thank you for doing some great footage......thank you......faz

  • I am one of the many people who really enjoy your corvid control vids especially ones with the magpies because of the destructive nature they have towards other birds especially songbirds in breeding seasons.Do you ever use larsen traps in spring early summer to control them?

  • @JODIMAR45 I don't but some of the farms that i shoot on do use them but they don't always have the time to look after them properly so they sit and gather moss rather than magpies.

  • @HuntersVermin Thats a real shame because if you want to control magpies they work an absolute treat. They do have to be looked after properly so if the farmers around you do not have the time then they are better gathering moss rather than magpies.

  • Comment removed

  • @Aerozine50 Yes that is good advice but i hate wearing rubber gloves, plus i usually take a shower when i get home as my wife says i smell like a byre.

  • @HuntersVermin Merry xmas to all the hunters reading this, and i just thought i should add to this that campylobacter aint the end of the world just make sure you was your hands after and dont have open cuts and you will be very unlucky to catch it, the human body is full of bugs but they are only normally an issue if they get into the wrong place or in too higher number :) happy hunting :)

  • @Bronzeback134r Sorry, i don't really like the sound of my own voice ether but it seems to be the best way to explain what is happening in the video, but there was a lot of back ground noise that didn't help ether.

  • Most annoying thing about NI is needing an FAC and a vermin control ticket. I've got my rifle for target shooting but need to get permission to shoot over land. A few farmers I've asked will say yes, but they don't want to go through the hassle of getting the land checked by an FEO...any advice on what to do?

  • @tulleh Well to use your gun for vemin control you need it on you licence for it. You only really need one or two farms, plus when i got mine FAC the police only phoned to farmer to make sure i had permission for an air rifle, but that will depend on who is doing the land check. But once you have your gun on for vermin control you can go anywhere (within reason) so long as you have the farmers permission to shoot on his land. The responsibility is on YOU to shoot safely.

  • Nice video yet again

  • @Coolpop96 Thanks.

  • Can somebody help me? I am going to buy a rifle in christmas but what is my best option in gamo rifles? Or what are the best details that I need on a air rifle?

  • @MrThemenmine to hunt

  • @MrThemenmine get a rws 34, gamo is junk... Go german or british, swedish

  • Keep them coming son! 5 magpies and you couldn't get a shot off..... Well, if you will sit in a shed full of cows ;-)

Taking my super 10 out tomorrow. Probably won't get anything but muddy! Roll on the spring!

(ignore the weirdo comments, there's a lot of us who really enjoy your vids!)

  • @doncortez1979 Thanks very much, but it was a slow day with the birds always on the move, but the next vid should be better with dobble the bag. Good luck with your hunt.

  • Glad to see you at the magpies again.lad

  • @cokanelad Thank you.

  • @liverpool5917 hes irish you tool.

  • Thanks for sharing David, I hate those magpies & two less is good for me ...

  • @tadpoles10 Thanks glad you liked it.

  • @TheAdzad Please no swearing. Sorry I think the back ground noise was the cattle trying to scratch themselfes on the bars of the pen.

  • @HuntersVermin i dont mean to swear, its just that i patiently wait for u to post a new video, and when u finally do, i get real excited, when things dont go per usual i get really annoyed, if u could just increase ur voice volume/ decrease the background noise that would be appreciated! keep doing wat ur doing, i love it.

  • Nice too see some more magpie videos.

It's just a bit more of a challenge to hunt magpies! Really hard targets

  • @frimodig Thanks, yeah they don't sit still for long.

  • can sum 1 hus an airgun expert or does alot of airgun hunting tell me wat range would be suitable for a break barrel 1000fps to kill rabbits, and say i hit a rabbit at 35 yards and i hit it in the stomach or the back or shoulder, can rabbits run far wen hit in these locations.

  • @FIELDROX I have shoot several magpies in the stomach with a high velocity PCP rifle with roundnose pellets, and they could still fly away and I never found them. So I recommend hollowpoint pellets and put them down for good.

  • @FIELDROX about 50 yards at most atleast, also I would reccomend headshots because if hit in the stomach they will tear off(go very far and very fast) unless it punctured something vital, also back shoulder don't slow em down that much I would really reccomend headshots

  • @FIELDROX Hope you're not in the UK with that rifle, or you have it on FAC, as 1000 fps in a .177 is over 12 ft-lbs and in a .22 it's well over. Providing you're not in the UK, then a spine shot should drop it immediately, a shoulder will most probably kill it through shock within a couple of yards but a belly should would be tragic. The pellet would over penetrate and the rabbit would likely die of blood-loss/shock hours or days later. Never, ever shoot anything in the belly - a shameful kill.

  • @H18136 agreed on the bodyshots, I hunt mostly with a slingshot these days up to about 30m, as you can easily get 2x a non FAC air rifle power out of them with the right ammo. IMO if you can't headshot a rabbit at 35 yards with a scope mounted air rifle then you shouldn't be hunting with it though...

great vid, hope to see more soon! :)

  • @FIELDROX as already said if you are in the uk and you dont have an fac ticket then your gun is illegal. never stomach shoot anything. headshot or heart shot will do the job. at 35mtrs you need to be able to put your pellets on top of each other not wider than your little finger nail same out to 50mtrs. if you cant do this pratice till you can before hunting...

  • @FIELDROX At 1000fps the gun is able to cleanly kill to 35-40 yards but you have to be able to shoot it accurately enough to put you pellet into the brain a place just behind the eye and below the ear. The heart is another kill zone just behind the front shoulder but a rabbit can run a short distance when shot here. Any where else is a wounded animal that will take a long time to die. With an airgun you have to practice till you can put 9 out of 10 pellets into a 3/4 inch kill zone.

  • Bit of a bad day big man, so tuff shots! still a legend though!

  • @mhgh9 Thanks we have to take the good days with the bad ones, but thats how we learn.

  • great vid

  • @grasmere16 Thanks.

  • Very good vid as usual mate. Keep up the good work and all credit to you for taking the second shot pal.

  • @quadrant0129wq Thanks glad you liked it.

  • I admire your restraint, finishing off the wounded bird instead of going for the new target. I wish I was confident that I would be. :)

  • @eohinyorks I know some will say its just a magpie but i don't like wounding things its not fair on them, i am there to do a job and i like to do it right and not leave stuff wounded here and there.

  • excellent video

  • @mdigiman Thanks.

  • great shooting there bud .

it's a shame the ones you missed out on because of the backstop but it is something we all have to remember when takeing aim .

i wonder how many don't well done mate .

  • @85k11 Yeah you have to take the good days with the bad ones, but then again thats how we learn.

  • @HuntersVermin to true mate .

anyho have a merry christmas mate and a happy new year .

  • Why a Red Dot?

  • @kazzzdafke I think it's a stuck pixel in his camera.

  • @kazzzdafke I think it is a fault in the camcorder as it has taken a beating over the years.

  • hey what pellets do you use for your vermin do you use a differant pellet for rabbits than birds or do you just use one pellet

  • @xiAdaMZz Yes i use Bisley magnums in my MFR for rabbits and Airarms Field Diabolo in my BSA super 10 for the magpies.

  • I really need to get out and knobble a few of these miscreants !!!.

  • Nice video mate :) Is that a rapid MFR or a mk2?

  • @MdashMUNIT It a BSA super 10 mk2.

  • Another nice one mate, what do you do with magpies? Looking forward to more videos soon.

  • @Jahazdaabba1 I do keep some to use as decoys the rest i put into a thick hedge so foxy can have them.

  • We are riddled with Maggies here! Everywhere you look you will see one!

  • Thank´s David for the new video. We´ll check your channel after the festive days for an update. I don't want to cause you any stress ;-) Merry Christmas to you and your´s!

  • @wzukr Thanks and a Merry Christmas to you too.

  • Been waiting for some bird hunts :D

  • @christianhunter96 Hope you liked it.

  • @HuntersVermin sure did, bang up job!

  • spot on as always, tis the season to kill magpies :D ProVC

  • Two I better than none but that's hunting. Nicely done as usual.

  • @Robocorps2 Thank you.

  • YESS! Another Video!

  • I love these videos the most, not sure why.

Rabbit hunting isn't as entertaining, although equal in your consistently good quality videos.

    Have a damn good day

  • @HoboJIm117 Thank you very much, glad you liked them.

  • A good video. Good job not shooting with the caravan in the background. It's a good example of shooting safety.

  • @Chugosh Thanks, i don't think it would have done much damage but i still wouldn't have liked to explain to the farmer what happened to it.

  • As always a great video nice shooting.

  • @miketheknife2 Thank you.

  • Glad to see back at the foul.....fowl. I sure do like your videos! Almost as much as Xmas. No...I think I like them more than Xmas.

Merry Christmas to you and your's.

    Nobull

  • @nobull60 Thank you very much and a Merry Christmas to you too.

  • Another great video. Why do magpies flock another that is dead? I had a great shoot from a barn window where I shot one from a tree and moments later others gathered around it, I could then pick off more. In a space of about 20mins I managed to drop 5 more. The odd one kept its distance but still in range

  • @waddac2 I am not sure but all the crow family have a curiosity about other dead birds, more so the magpie, it might have something to do with they're peaking order as i have seen magpies hammering away at other recently shot birds.

  • Yes, very good point, and great video again :o)))))

  • Good man,it's always good to see the magpies getting a good thinning out. They're one of the hardest birds to get a shot on ,so well done.

  • @snaggletooth555 Thank you.

  • hey david hows the video selling

  • @XxepicxX0 Not too bad thanks.

  • Once I get scope rings, I'll to figure out how to mount a camera to it and take it out shooting , if I get a chance

  • Just wondering how long time wise does it take u to get to these place?

  • @oakland002 Most of the farms i shoot over are within 15-20 mins from home.

  • anybody like how his videos can be watched in HD

  • You know the birds are there and will be back again...and so will we.

There was a glitch in the video at 0:41 to 0:54 ....was that you stopping the video?

  • @RDPproject It did freeze on me when i watched it but thought it was just my computer.

  • great vid ! Looking forward to the next one.

  • @kevd430 Thanks.

  • great video again as allways! Keep it up!

  • @pratze86 Thank you.

  • lots juveniles around here

  • i hit a magpie stone dead and around 20 magpies went berzerk.

  • Another great video! I wish you a merry christmas and happy new year,

  • @MrPoppabear255 Thanks and a Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you too

  • great video! :D Merry christmas man and a happy new (hunting) year :D:D:D:D:D

  • @22cruel Thanks and a Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you too.

  • I'm an airgun hunter myself so dont take this wrong. Surely magpies clean the place up and EAT vermin.

  • @SissingPyd They are good at cleaning up road kill but they are also very sore on nesting song birds plus they steel the meal put out for the live stock out of the troughs and have a habbit of dunging all over the troughs too. So the farmer is very glad to see me reducing their numbers.

  • Superb video again

  • @barneyrubble32 Thank you.

  • i missed a pheasent at 5 yards today...

  • @MrSaucysniper66 shoot... :) got to feel for you :)

  • great job

  • @patryklucarz Thanks.

  • great vid buddy , keep em coming..atb...Tyger.

  • @mrrabbiteye Thanks i'l try.

  • Great shooting!

    Very nice video!

  • @LucasAndersonAlves Thank you.

  • How do like that bsa super 10. Shot count, easy fill, thinking of going to the dark side, S410 is on list, and hw100. comments

  • @timbphoto I really like my super 10 shame that they stopped making it but the R10 probably wouldn't have sold if they hadn't. Bothe the s410 and HW100 are really good rifles, i might edge toward the HW100 myself.

  • really enjoyed you shooting the birds again

  • @ianjames96 Thanks.

  • david as one of the smoothest commentary voices on hunting videos and thats what makes them that bit more special.. nice to see you back bud have a good xmas you and yours...

  • @moonbear Thank you very much and a Merry Christmas to you too.

  • another good video. keep up the good shooting

  • @GWHcraig1088 Thanks i'l try.

  • Only two still means two less, and you were right to pass up the opportunity of a third, for even vermin deserve a quick death.

    Good hunting

    Trefor

  • @MultiLongacre Thank you.
