@adoerfler WTF are you talking about? Horses in general don't like when anyone is behind them. Anyone who's owned a horse knows that you should approach their front or side to let them know you're going behind them. Otherwise what you saw in the video is most likely to happen.

That is NOT the normal reaction of a horse that has been handled well. That horse was afraid, warned the chilld with his body language, and kicked in what he thought was self defense.

@MadjetReaper Honestly you are both right. It all depends on the horse and its upbringing. I have had horses I would go behind without a second though, and others I wouldn't go behind to save my life. Different horses react differently. Though still, as a general rule, never go behind a horse.

Once again, I have owned, and trained horses for 50 years now. That was not the reaction of a horse that has been handled well. He was afraid.

I have owned horses all my life also and study animal physiology. An animal with eyes on the side of it's head does not have a complete range of vision. I have had horses that have kicked at dogs that have stood behind them like this and they were never abused.

How am I a fraud? A horse isn't going to change it's reaction if it's startled by a human, a dog, a bear, or any other disturbance. Horses are flighty animals by nature. You're batshit crazy if you think all horses that kick out at something they can't see when they're scared/startled/confused have been abused. I never said horses don't defend themselves when threatened, all I said was that there is no way you can claim this horse is "abused" by a ten second video.

Having the training i do i would have gotten in between the horse and the kid. The parent is down right retarded... his kid could have been killed. I have taken some pretty nasty kicks from ponies to drafts but i know that i saved a little kid from getting the blow.
