wat the fuk is go on marvel created captain marvel and dc stole him cause they were jeaoule because captain marvel was making more money then super man
@reaper49053 It is strange to see a comment so wholly devoid of contact with reality--and yet you think you have expert knowledge. If the scenario you outline were true, wouldn't he be called Captain Timely?
@reaper49053 captain marvel could never be more recognizable than superman.
people who followed captain marvels storylines dont even like captain marvel anymore. they like black adam. his arcs are mature, thought provoking, and less camply.
only a little kid could be a fan of a little kid that turns into a big super hero. when people grow up they can still be comfortable liking superman, not the case with captain marvel.
well that isn;t possible , i mean superman can't go instantly beyond the speed of light among many other reasons . I mean it is impossible to accelarate anywhere that fast , even when superman went faster than light he had to fly around the earth several times to gain mommentum
Gentlemen........why the bickering between two superheroes that are good guys and usually allies? This is similar to the old "Chevy vs. Ford" arguments. I've read many comic issues on both heroes. While I do agree that Capt. Marvel seems to have slightly more inconsistecies in the past....so what?! What's the big deal? Who cares which came first or who is or was more popular. Clark and Billy are each good hearted, unique, cool, and very likable characters. - Peace :)
number one, i didnt start the bickering. i was simply responding to an person who attacked me for not knowing the characters. sorry, but i have a problem when a know nothing kid who is going to question my knowledge when he himself doesnt know the characters as well as he thought!
O.K, now I understand BT. I hope that the proposed new "shazam" movie will be well directed and won't be campy. The Captain Marvel mini-series of the 1940s and the 1st season 1974 Shazam (Jackson Bostwick) both had Captain Marvel as a respectable hero. Hopefully they don't cornball it. - Peace.
that movie is on hold right now as are all of warner brother's other superhero film's except for green lantern. they are taking time to try and create a plan for multiple crossover's by other hero's working up eventually to a justice league film.
another example of bad writting......... superman has been shown to be able to move faster than the speed of light. so, if marvel was conjuring up his magical lightning to strike him, all superman would have to do is sidestep it as lightning only travels at the speed of light ! captain marvel is no more than a superman "wannabe ripoff" . even the legal system agrees with me .when dc sued marvel for copyright infringement fawcett had to cease publication of marvel.
By that logic, he left out the comic book of Justice where Captain Marvel throws Superman into the sun and saves Supes and Batman's behinds. I personally like the part where Captain fries Supes with a couple of lightning bolts. Supes is lucky the captain didn't use his most harmful lightning strikes since supes in vulnerable to magic and all.
there are disparities in the writting of many of these stories. if you look at some of the early superman comics superman was struck by lightning with no adverse affects whatsoever. in fact i believe its either #38 or # 58 where on the cover he is hit by lightning and states "it tickles"!that was the early superman who had the lowest power level.so, the writters have definatly taken liberties with the effect lightning would have on him!
Ah, but Captain Marvel's lightning is based in magic since it is from the wizard Shazam. Magic does have an effect on Supes and thus magical lightning has an even stronger effect.
right. but the lightning itself is not magical, just his ability to summon it.and i wasnt talking about it affecting capt marvel it was superman i was talking about.
you read up on a character and lose the condescending attitude while your at it! in an interview in wizard magazine some time ago dennis o'neil, writter of captain marvel stated that the lightning bolt while magical in its creation, itself held no more magical properties than ordinary lightning!! so you do some research before you correct me, kid! or do you know more than his writter?judging by your attitude i would guess your response would be yes!
again lose the attitude and read my earlier posts! ive already addressed that issue! and stop bothering me! i have better things to do than go back and forth with you!
i have and the only thing its proof of is inconsistant and bad writting.how come his lightning had no effect on superman in their first fight back in the seventies?btw, it appears your comic knowledge is about as good as your wrestling abilities!lol
btflash is 100% right! the lightning itself is no more magical than ordinary lightning as evidenced by interviews with captain marvels own writters.if he indeed has the strength of hercules and the power of zeus , immortal olympian gods than how was he humilitated and beaten so badly by thor , a much weaker nordic god?
@SonicPsycho Yes, since they were forced to cease comics publication for several reasons. Chiefly was the lawsuit by DC fron '41 to '53, in which DC claimed Capt. Marvel was a steal from Superman. Rather than incur endless court costs and attorney fees, they gave up and settled with DC, who eventually bought the rights to the character. Plus, there was a slump in sales then as well as a media-led "witch-hunt" that led to the creation if the Comics Code Authority. Thus ended Fawcett Comics.

Superman has no protection against magic, Captain Marvel should have won in that episode. End of story.
eeryjaguar 3 years ago
I understand. But also in Kingdom Come, Supes Heat vision had no effect on Capt Marvel. As you said, it depends on who's writing the story.

in the fight between superman and capt marvel you left out the part where superman wins!

well, his ability to control lightning is magical, but the lightning itself has no magical properties.
btflash55 3 years ago
yes it does. If billy batson got struck by regular lightning, it would hurt him like anyone else.

right. but the lightning itself is not magical, just his ability to summon it.and i wasnt talking about it affecting capt marvel it was superman i was talking about.
btflash55 3 years ago
the lightning is 100% magical. It comes from Zeus (the power of Zeus) Read up on a character before you make statements like that about them.

clearly you haven't read any fights between captain marvel and superman then, since his lighting always hurts superman.

read Kingdom Come. That is proof enough. He hurts superman by calling down the lightning and hitting him with it.
