I have researched these music categories for the past 9 years
and I have rediscovered tunes I had forgotten about or I discovered
new tunes that totally deserved the time it took to discover them.
In Itunes Store or Itunes Ping if you use the search terms "electrofunk" (as a single word) or "80s funk" the search result shall produce several lists that have "electrofunk" or "80s funk"
in the playlist name in the "Playlist" category at the low left corner of the search result.
These lists have songs that (1) you may have heard before and enjoyed but forgotten or (2) songs
that you may enjoy now but you have not heard before. These lists also include album cuts that were not released as singles and songs from lesser known yet solid groups/soloists such as Fatback, Kashif, Laid Back, D Train, Boys Don't Cry, and Dynasty.
They could have been The Spice Girls of The 80's; The problem was that Rick James thought too damn much with The Head Between His Legs, Not The One Between His Shoulders. Oh well; At least we have this to remember The Mary Jane Girls by.

That been said, people can improve themselves no doubt and if a girl puts herself through school by stripping or other 'demeaning' methods,its no different than working a shitty job and moving up, its how YOU perceive it.

I remember when Yvette Marine had accused Paula Abdul of lip-synching over 20 years ago and it was really her voice. If anyone heard her sing lead on any of the Mary Jane Girls' songs- that is, when they let her sing lead- you knew that Yvette was saying all of that to make a come up.
I think the costumes these girls are wearing are appropriate and classy from my point. It goes with the music and video set-up. This is classic Marketing 101 of a product.....that being the music. From what I can surmise, these girls made a pretty good chunk of money from this song. And thats all that really matters.

In the early/mid 80s a lot of funk-ish music crossed from the R&B chart to the US and/or UK pop chart. AND vice-versa.
David Bowie's "Let's Dance" got to # 14 on the US R&B chart in 1983.

I LOVE this fuckin' song! Takes me back to being a little girl. Honestly, this song doesn't sound "dated" to me. It holds up well and these women could really sang!!! Plus, they were all quite attractive.

@arkady714 - Honey...I DO dress like that (so what)...I was raise in the 80's, and that is nothing but class when you can dress by not revealing alot. I am always cover but still sexy.... I get more respect from my male friends and gentleman on the street then women who you CAN see everything on their bodies, when they dress very little!!! I love the 80's look!!!! I say the more the body is cover the more the mystery!!!
