like your gearbox, did you cut the baffle out of the stock muffler. how do you keep the muffler mounted, no matter what thread locking compound i use it allways rattles off.
I have made several motorized bikes, but always with the 2 stroke motors. Next one is going to be the 4 stroke. I am going to switch the pulleys on the belt drive to CVT pulleys from a scooter, that will give gearing, rather than a fixed ratio. Should pull an easy 45mph then. Your arse is dangerously close to the spinning back wheel. You'd be well fucked if a part of your clothing got in there.
@Scootertuner1000 cvt good idea!! make a step by step vid it;d be interesting. yeah the back wheel was close but meh... the belt drive hitting my leg hurt more then a few tugs on the shirt!! i start work on my next bike soon!!!
@tmccread I am going to see if a Comet torque converter will fit (it's a CVT). Why don't you put a cover on the pulley system. I will def post a video.
@Scootertuner1000 cause i love the open belt on harleys and thought it mildly resembled that . i lernt quick not to pull my leg in, in a turn! ive sold the bike on now.. sadly
@tmccread I don't know but it seems to me that the 4 stroke bike engines are better built than the 2 stroke ones. They seem smoother and just as fast, which is unusual, normally I would think a 2 stroke is faster.
I have built 1 mountain bike and 4 beach cruisers all using the 80cc (they're really 66cc) 2 stroke engines that have the manual clutch. Just peddle up to a few mph and dump the clutch to start it.
@Scootertuner1000 they are good but the 66cc are cheaper i had one of the 1st ones before every thong wearing kid with a motorcrosss helmet started to do it. i got it from zbox.com 49cc on an old giant mtb rode it everyday for 3 months 30klm to and from work now i love em
@tmccread zbox, you must be in Oz, right? I found a nice all black 80cc 2 stroke on ebay for $109 U.S. plus $30 shipping. Walmart has a nice Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser for $84 or a Schwinn touring bike for $99.
The video I have on here was also a Cranbrook Cruiser. That actually went really well, 52kph per a digital bike speedo. Held it's speed up hills well too. I didn't have a speedo or lights on it in the video though. You can connect normal dynamo lights up to the kill switch wire.
@crazyhobo85483 i would say about 300-500$ depend on how cheap u get the bike the engine cost about 140$-150$ thats the 66cc/80cc 2 strokes as this one is the 49CC 4 strokes it cost about 300$ lets say u buy the bike for 200$ + engine 150$ or 300$ u will end up with about 300-500$
@BalsactheJawsofJake all up about $800 but i was lucky to find the bike a cheep as i did. i'd say to do it again would be almost $1500 if ur keen ill find all the info i had!
