  • I think there great there doing no harm what so ever

  • The first 10 seconds I thought it was fresh live fish moving on the counter :)

  • I didn't name the market because the pressure from the video would make them clean up their act. At this point, the story has been covered very thoroughly in the press (visible if one Googles).

The Hawaii Dept of Health still will not authorize overtime, so no nighttime visits to the other markets have or likely will take place. So there's nothing saying that the rat problem was confined to one market, just that they're the ones who left their lights on at night in front of an open window.

  • unless we know which place this is it is impossible for us to boycott them without boycotting everyone in the region, which isn't fair for the shop owners who do make an effort to control the rat problem. please reply

  • unless we know which place this is it is impossible for us to boycott them without boycotting everyone in the region, which isn't fair for the shop owners who do make an effort to control the rat problem. please reply with the store name.

  • it would be so easy to prevent all rats .. why the owner doesn't take the simplest of precautions i don't know. I'm not going to ask the government to fine them, i just wont buy from them anymore, and that will hurt their business much more.

  • Wow look at these rats

  • So what?! SAn francisco chinatown and New York city chinatown is worser!

  • so u went to chinatown at night and lived to tell the tale. how did this happen?

  • my grandma buys bananas from china town... ha ha.

  • This is the most weird thing ever and also I was eating lunch when I saw this!

  • if any of you knew ANYTHING about hawaii you would know that chinatown is like the ghetto. And you would KNOW not to buy the crap there.

  • i would never buy any shit from china town

  • that's some f*ucking big rats. who wants to live in a shit hole like honolooloo?

  • The ending was hilarious...in order of appearance rat rat rat rat, LOL

  • This is definitely Kekaulike Mall! Julie hawaii

  • best city in the world

    i want there

  • excuse me but it is not hanalulu but rather HONOLULU!

  • Eh. It's the Hawaiian Island mentality, I guarantee nothing was done about this. It's very Oriental in that way. Anyway, being in Chinatown at night - you got bigger problems than rats, you got mahu hookers, meth heads down by the river, and regular hookers and gangs roaming around. And a police dept that does absolutely nothing about anything. Ah...paradise.

Great video. Can't say I miss it.

  • No big deal. The rats eat the roaches and eventually somebody eats the rats. Those critters are well fed, clean and active. Many of my friends in the US and Europe are not. Visit a packing plant anywhere and you'll find a similar situation - hey, there's a hair in my hamburger!

  • RATS!

  • The market just needs a few cats to have a party.

  • incredible

  • omg! i was gonna go there with my bf! hell no!

omg, i can't believe rats can jump like that.

but i do admit, it looks like they're having a lot of fun...

  • lol

  • Yes, Chinatown is a pretty place to visit. Just look at the rats.

  • Hawaii is strange. The Police sit around at gas stations bull shitting all day. The Health Department is almost non-existent and the amount of illegal aliens here from south east Asia, Philippians and China is out of control. The Blacks in Honolulu bring drugs , major prostitution rings and violence. They have spent millions developing Waikiki just to have drug addicts littering the beautiful beaches. The war on marijuana is the driving force behind the Ice ( meth) problem.

  • @dasupa666 umm i feel offended by ur comment about filipino's ok we are trying to make a living over here ok im not trying to be rude but im just saying i feel offended

  • @soundwave1009 I feel offended by your very presence. You think you can just get on a fucking boat and set up shop where ever the hell you feel like. Your children run around in gangs and terrorize the local population. You don't even try to assimilate or fallow the rules of law. Americans (Hawaiian and Japanese Americans) who are native to the Islands have to get in the back of the line because of liberal assholes who give people from other countries preferential treatment. I'm offended....

  • @soundwave1009 In Hawaii, the overwhelming majority of Filipino's are legally here.

  • OMG! Im from Australia. If this was a video of a store here, it would be shut down immediately with huge fines! When I head to Oahu in 3 months I wont be visiting China Town now!!

  • Ugh. I feel like throwing up. :[

  • The rats are pretty cute. To be honest, if they're eating this food and living in this establishment, those are probably some of the healthiest rats alive.

    The guy's breathing is irritating.

This doesn't doesn't bother me because I don't buy ANY food from Chinatown, however, I should be bothered in the event that any of the establishments I do eat at get their food from Chinatown....

  • @gr3y ....Then you should be bothered...only the very exclusive restaurants and the large fast food chains could maybe say that they never buy from Chinatown markets.I'm in the biz and I know. The state dept.of health doesn't give a crap about what you put in you mouth in Honolulu.

  • eww, thats nasty!

    i hate rats, shii

haah theyre real good jumpers huh

    wooo lol

  • Larry, with all the pump priming you are up top 27,000 views. Should have been viral at over 100,000 by now... Maybe it's time to give it a rest?

  • Americans need to wake up!

You need to go to San Francisco China Town to see how dirty their kichens are filled with greese and rats.

I am Japanese. We do not buy any food processed in China. Chinese restaurant do not

    wash vegitable before cooking.

  • @MrGlobalwatcher サンフランシスコなめんなよこら!

  • All I can say is wow. That will take your appetite away.

  • If comments are any indication, nobody cares. Well, we have made a collective decision to become a third world country.

Luckily, we haven't had rabies or the plague here. Yet.

  • rats are everywhere. they exist in almost every grocery store in the world. don't believe me? set sticky rat paper or snap traps in every grocery store... from Safeway to Giant, from KTA to your military-run DECA Commissary. the traps will produce dead rodents

  • oooo ratatouilleeeee..=D

  • not in chinatown i live there

  • chinatown is a fuckin dump. rats cause the huge fire before. they like roaches, yoou cannot wipe them out, only hope to control them.

  • Didnt you know those are the chefs and not the people? Didnt u ever the movie Ratataoulli in 2007?? This is his local chinese cuzn rats "Rata-Fuey". lol.

All in all, i'm chinese, i know how the culture is...it doesnt bother me haha. Its like that in EVERY china town in the world. Everything tastes great with some homha and black beans mixed in. lol.

  • See what happens when you use the cats for manapua...

  • I think I saw the same rats in Waikiki and at Ala Moana Shopping Center.Take your video camera down there and shoot some video. That should be good for business.

  • This is America for you, this shit is all over places like that. I find them cute.

  • this is honolulu china town, it is exceptionally more dirty than everyplace else, trust me. nothing but rats and drug dealers at night

  • The rats are considered food by the Chinese, so they belong there.

  • china's worse haha

  • you sure are an idiot aren't you

  • I lol'd at 2:34. I think the rats are adorable but I'd never ever EVER eat in Chinatown again.

  • only thing im suprised about is how big the rats are, their huge! chinatown is full of bums too. its an ugly place in an otherwise great island.

  • The herbal cures in Chinatown are even more disgusting. I just wish viewers could smell the human urine from the drunks and bums outside of these chinatown establishments. They should torch the entire area.

  • I nominate importing some snakes to help rid these varmints.

  • I don't know I've kinda acquired a craving for chinatown "chicken" fried rice. It has a very unique gamey taste for the discerning palate.

  • @:57 Scotti beam me up!!! These rats are happy and all the free food and no humans, but still A very dangerous situation there

  • i like rats. not

  • they should close down chinatown cause they cannot erradicate the rats, cockroaches cause the buildings are old and near river street and their under the sewers.

  • rats everywhere

  • fucken gross

  • They should send a food inspector in there. ew

  • even if this section or shop exteremly in their tip-toe condition..., there are still rats from another stalls coming by. moral of the story: watch what you eat.. even if its 'raw' foods..

  • god,it's gross.chinatowns are the most terrible places in the world.

  • cute!

  • AWESOME!

  • No BS!! In vietnam eating a rats can make you dick big and long.look this one up at youtube>Eating Rats in Hanoi Vietnam Pkastan

  • I know this supposed to be a disgusting video because rats are running on the food but I thought it was adorable. I mean the rats are just playing and swinging on banana baskets without a care in world. I love it!

  • @JOEYCRAXMAN You know, at first, I'm thinking you're an animal loviin' NUTJOB... but in reality, I totally agree with you. They ARE freakin' adorable... yet disgusting.... yet adorable...... I'm so conflicted.

  • Let's face it, rats are in many food establishments. I've seen them in Kaimuki and even in Safeway Beretania (I used to work there). I've also seen them while working (at night) in a storeroom in Makai Marketplace (Ala Moana S.C.). It doesn't take much of an opening for rats to get in, and once there in...

  • @pentinc I never saw them at safeway. I should pay more attention.

  • forget the bananas.. i wanna eat those rats, cooked of course.

  • Nice video man, film more spots on Oahu people only view only half of the story.

  • Mmmmm.local organic food.

Ill have the orange chicken, kung pow and one gallon Pepto Bismol and 40 rolls of toilet paper.

    Tha will be ten daoulaaah!

  • dis why all food in chinatown is so ono!!!!

  • At 2:35 is a super rats

  • Yeah seriously! How did he do that, haha.

  • meow-napuas

  • im guessing your friend is a rat?

  • OMG! I love bananas!

  • I was just wondering what prompted you to video this?!! Were you just walking by one day and decided to do this? You did state on the video that you once shopped there, totally get why you would never shop there again....but just curious how all this came about!!!!

  • Actually I got a tip from someone who spotted the store with its lights on.

  • Avoid this place like the plague!!!

  • wow!! that's a good 'pulutan" fry'em and and make some soyu with lemon with matching gintonic... hehehe...

  • In the 12 years I've lived here in Honolulu, I never go into Chinatown cause the drugs & prostitution problems! This is another reason I will never GO THERE or EAT THERE!!! Absolutely disgusting!

  • I'm sure they know what's going on. Noway that the the owners don't know there are rats. Just take it look at the covers, there were all kinds of tears and bite marks. I don't go there too often, and notime soon am I planning to visit there., or buy anything from there.

  • The "order of appearance" made me smile, but the rest of the video expresses a flagrant disregard for the wellbeing of the general public. I don't believe for an instant that the owners of this establishment were unaware of this situation.

  • MrPipeline100...is that you Andrew N? Anyway I am not surprised but I do think something needs to be done about that. Covering up the windows is not the solution.

  • I laugh if they they actually kill the rats, cook them and sell them.roflmao

  • Kdens to China town people, can't wait too see what happens when the health department comes into this scene, so dumb , about time to get china town shaped up

  • I think the rats are adorable! They remind me of my former pet rats. It's pretty cute to watch them playing. I would definitely not purchase anything from this shop, though. As much as I like rats, I don't want to eat their "droppings" LOL!!

  • I would like to see this same area in the day...with all the customers.

  • I would like to see this same area in the day....with all the customers.

  • Never seen rats bigger than that in my life. Never have and never will buy anything from there.

  • Aloha, I would like to contact the gentleman who shot this video. I work for a news organization in Honolulu. Mahalo, Andrew 368-7273

  • I once found an earwig in my fried rice at the now defunct "McCully Chop Sui". They took it back and gave me a larger portion. It's not China Town but I hope no one gets to experience this sort of surprise. Since Hawaii is warm and comfortable all year around, little critters thrive in the environment.
