  • This kid kinda made me sad. Jesus will never give up on you. Please don't give up on him. He'll come again, anew one of these days. God Bless you, Jessica.

  • OMG Jessica you are truely amazing... Im weeping right now... Keep them coming , i know exactly how you feel..

  • I LOVE that old Gibson

  • 1979 called, and they want their couch back.

I remember we had a couch just like that one growing up.

  • @YodaPala My grandmother had that couch too! and the matching chairs!

  • im diggin that couch!

  • I feel like she's one of those

    Fuck it

and just dyes her hair and does what she wants

    I love her<3

  • She doesn't have the strongest voice out there but it is very pleasing to my ears.

  • you were so cute jess! like your new look though.

  • Totally amazing all around...beautiful voice (and being from Eastern Ky. I love that slight Appalachian drawl/ accent) and what incredible lyrics. Maybe what strikes me the most is both the rawness and honesty of the song and that it takes some guts to write a song like this. You really piss people off questioning Jesus but clearly Jessica (just like every great artist) isn't too concerned about that!

  • Damn People! Shes obviously talented..shes playing a guitar and singing her own damn song..haters gonna Hate I guess..I think some of you are so fucking bitter and sad you search out new artists simply so you can label them..troll them and spit your hate so the rest of us can see what a sad and soul less person you really are. Thumper Rules: If you dont have something nice to say ..dont say anything at all. Jessica is going to be around for a long time and she is just going to get better.

  • @resonancecascade89 No, not really. I found it pretentious.

  • @apologetickid Then I don't think you really paid attention. You're just a hipster-hater, like a person that's prejudiced against all black people assuming that they all rape and steal. You see a musician in a funky outfit and assume "pretentious fake hipster". There are some pretentious asshole hipsters, for sure. But, she doesn't come off as one of them, to me. Funky hipster look? Definitely. But how does she seem pretentious? She seems meek to me, just singing about how she feels /shrug/

  • If the word "hipster" could be packed into a video, this is what it would look like.

  • she is so awesome. i can really relate to her songs, they speak from the heart.

  • never really listened to her before, I'm very moved by this song. She's earned a new fan :D this was a great introduction to her!

  • @tapatton9 Oh, and you thought her songs were too sad, huh? Awww.. Did it almost make you cry in front of your macho friends. I'm not ashamed to say when I saw her a couple of months ago, her music touched me so deeply it made me cry. Besides, you're prob some 20 year old douchebag that only gets to occasionally fuck a lady twice before she realizes you're a doucher. Then she never returns your phone calls, so you don't know what heartbreak is, little boy.

  • @tapatton9. Haha, STFU you fucking wannabe scenester! She's definately not faded into obscurity, she's somewhat rapidly gaining fans. She came into this fairly small sized city on a Wed night and drew a crowd of about 100 people. She's on Pandora radio alongside Mazzy Star and Neil Young. I hope she opens for Cake in yr town again soon!

  • my freakin parents, friends parents every aunt uncle cousin had this furniture, it sucks to sleep on even as a kid. this is funny its in her vid.

  • Sad. We live in truth... why are you so tired of searching for it? I would enjoy a cup of coffe with her.

  • yes!

  • I think everyone has owned that couch set or known someone who has. I had the whole set with the coffee table that had the matchin cushions. But I digress. I love this song. I love just about everything this lady does...

    get the behind me jeeshus.

  • i had that couch too, haha.

  • I have a loveseat of it right now. WOOT!

  • holy shit that's the same couch we had about 25 years ago when I was a small child

  • W.W.Y.D. ?J?

    what would YOU do?

  • I think Jessica has an amazing voice.

    She's just so talented.

    <3

  • I cannot imagine my life w/o Jesus. I've had too many people close to me die & to think that I may never see them again would make life pointless. I have plenty of friends who are atheists, & I do not think it is my responsibilty to make them believe. With that being said, glad there is an outlet for artists who do not want to become a mindless bobble head on the radio.

  • @Daisy123M n00b

  • This just resonates so much with how I am feeling and thinking. The words are raw and true. This is a cry from my heart and soul. I don't want to be tested by God or anybody else! Oh man. So brilliantly beautiful.

  • my parents used to have that couch. lol

  • Straw man much?

  • Shes just so pure.

  • It has taken me less than 24 hours to fall in love with her Beautiful.

  • Parabéns!

Este vídeo foi recomendado para mim e realmente gostei!

    Um abraço, Tay - Brasil

  • This song is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard in my life. It is dead on with how I am feeling! Thank you so much for putting into words what I am unable to. Keep up the good work!!!

  • this is really good!

  • Her voice is amazing. At some points it reminds me of Conor Oberst's.

  • yep we used to have that couch too, and this is a sad song i hope she really didnt give up on Jesus... i know how tough things get sometimes tho... thats y im about to go seek God in a whole different way alone and secluded this world takes over our lives, just quit your jobs like im doing and seek the Almighty.... what do you have to lose that means anything... your home? your friends? your money? WAKE UP its just a ride its just a dream this is just a test get to know Jesus, and learn to love.

  • it's your brain and motivation that keep you going in life, not god. What can god do when it comes to an important decision? when you need to help someone? when you need to work? it's all you, not god.

  • God helps me make better decisions everyday

  • @420420420pot

don't sell yourself short. those are your decisions. why give credit where it ain't due?

  • I used to have that couch and those walls.

  • my parents had that couch also lol

  • ouch

  • Oh my god. She sings to my soul and she's one of the most beautiful people i've ever seen.

  • I cant listen to this song without crying!!! OOPS Sorry but i liove the way this girl writes her songs!!!!!

  • my grandmother has that same couch. beautiful song too.

  • Beautiful.

    xoxo

  • youre an idiot...jessica is a real musician not some bubble gum pop shit star

  • there are plenty of people that go to see her live. im one. get a life dickwad

  • lol I like this girls voice, but i know EXACTLY what you mean.

  • My absolute favorite thing about YouTube is that it gives everyone a chance to be heard; especially those who haven't been sucked into the mainstream and really have soemthing to say. It really is one of the precious few open forums left to the world

  • Fantastic!

  • love her voice...this song is great too!!

  • i grew up with that lamp

  • Hey, I was reading the divine comedy, found this prayer that reminded me of your song...

"put not to proof our worth, that is subdued in battle with the ancient adversary; deliver us from him that so assails it".

    You have a beautiful voice.

  • This is awesome!!!!

  • "Try to look past your save-my-soul pamphlet induced hot button and listen to what the song is saying."

    Hysterical.

Anyway, the song is amazing. I saw her play with the band Cake a couple months ago, and this song made me get her EP. I didn't know the title of this song, so I just hoped it would be on. It wasn't. =[

  • Learn to spell, monkey.

  • Why am I not surprised that a Cake fan doesn't like JLM? I guess you can't have your Cake and eat it too...

  • I was up front at a recent show, and Jessica Mayfield is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Thankfully, she's just not so self indulged that she feels the need to look the part for misguided critics like yourself. I hope that more artists choose to disappoint the likes of you in order to offer the rest of us something truly unique, beautiful, and amazing.

  • ive listened to this like five times in a row haha.

  • 10 outta 10

  • Brilliant! She's special.

  • Love this song.

  • this is fantastic.

  • i don't think the aforesaid critcisms are fair. I just plain love this song.

  • I find this comment a bit wierd. Are you suggesting beautiful people must sing about happy things? Look at all the greatest song writers, the majority of them are depressed. You have to go through shit in life to have the depth to sing about these things. I dont want to listen to someone singing about how happy they are. I'd find that really patronising.

but anyway, love this song. Went and bought her album after hearing this. Keep it up!!

  • I have found myself really taking a liking to this girl but I just hope that 1 day she finds a way to see the sunny side of writing. I still dig the heck out of this girl. Just hope she doesn't turn into the female version of Isaac Brock. Keep playing Jessica.

  • I think it would be a great to have a female version of Isaac Brock. Modest Mouse is a great band, and so was Ugly Casanova. Play to your soul's content Jessica.

  • yeah i guess your right, huh?

we should just disregard anything young people do, i mean they're not even human are they??

how could they possibly have a concept of the world around them i mean jeez you guys have done such a great job of setting up our future for us, we really don't deserve any opinion do we??

I just can't wait to go out there and bask in the glory of victory and economic strength that you have created for us.

    your a fucking idiot stevenj138

  • @HumpityDumpOnYou haha whoah now. calm down young fella'

  • Maybe "Jesus" is just a metaphor for forced religion. Try to look past your save-my-soul pamphlet induced hot button and listen to what the song is saying. Jesus loves you too, man.

  • amazing as usual :)

  • i like ur couch. and the singing ain't bad either :)
