i think, nobody saw it coming because in Harry Potter, sexual orientation is just not that important. i mean, when u read harry potter, u wanna know about voldy and his past and how harry is related to him and what not. cuz i dont remember me thinking "hmm..i wonder if anyone is gay or a lesbian at hogwarts". but as far as hints go, they were clearly there. like, in book 7, we find out a lot about how dumbledore was close to grindewald but was never like interested in any female or anything.

I think that Jo did the right thing by revealing that dumbledore is gay. Like emerson said, it makes a person who is wise, powerful, moral become part of a group that is discriminated against. those people who are against gays will hopefully see that gays are in fact people just like everyone else. good, bad, and everything else. Him being gay also shouldn't change your views of him because he is not outwardly gay. It only happens to fit into the story line.
