Ella and Oscar...simply marvelous! I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, and Joe Pass back around 1979 in Minneapolis. Oscar played alone for a while, then he left and Joe Pass played alone; then Oscar came on stage and joined Joe. After a brief intermission, Ella came on with her own trio. About halfway into her set, she had Oscar and Joe sit in with her. I can't even describe how swinging the place was; forever etched in my memory. I miss them all.
