I think the Asst. Athletic Director called the school facilities to have the goalpost unbolted so the students could carry it around without damaging either the goalpost or the mountings at the stadium. Probably wasn't fun getting it back to the stadium afterward, but some quick thinking saved the school a bit of money there.

In people's minds ... according to the Sagarin computer rankings, last year Appalachian State was about as good as Miami Fl and Minnesota, and better than Alabama and Purdue. Who would make a big thing out of it if Michigan lost to Minnesota or Purdue? ACC teams avoid scheduling them for a good reason. Funny as it may look, what this game exposed more than anything is how GOOD Applachian State is.
