Thank you for this video! I have been trying to figure out how to turn zspheres into a editable polymesh for a few days now. This vdeo is really going to help me progress as an artis. Thanks again!
@ bballa : to cave your document and reedit it, go on the file tab, click on mesh tool--save tool as and the next day , go on the file tab , mesh tool -- load tool and create your mesh
LlanoSeb ; ) i've juste started and find that system , and it work ( and if you don't understand , sorry im french
hey i am modeling and i didn't finish my model so do i save the document or what do i do so i can start up working on it again the next day(i saved it and the next day i can't work on it it is just a solid figure i can't even go into the edit mode or get out of polymesh view can't press A HELP!!!
Thank you for a couple things. Talking like a normal person and not like a socially inept isolated nerd. Keeping the pace flow good and not being slow and not overexplaining the obvious.
"Overexplaining the obvious" might be needed for some people. I'm glad you manage to catch on quickly, that is also a sign for good tutoring if the tutor manage to make the students think "Duh, it's obvious!". The students might not notice that if not the tutor mentioned those. And the over explained comments might help those students who are considered slow or doesn't dare to ask, fearing their questions might be "too stupid".
Heloo ,, i have made a model in zbrush and i wanted to animate it,, so i saved it as obj file,,, it turned out that its heavy as hell 160 mb.. so 3d max doest want to open it ,,,,,, whats the trick to animate that hight detaled objects?
@PLAlfa In Zbrush's forums there are tutorials on how to export a low resolution version of your mesh and a displacement map with the hires details, so you can use both in max.
@Baktor Thanks a lot, i have already find out that there has to be created normal map and displacment map for the model..and the model hast to be saved as low polly meash,, but there is always a problem with UV cordinats i dont kno what i do wrong bu i never get the same look of model like in zbrush,,, and i found that normal map as normal bumb looks better on model than displacement,,, but fuck why?
Hey does anybody knows the quick key(s) to zoom in and out on zbrush i reacently got it and its my first "3d" program i have ever use so im pretty new to this kind of programs. if anybody can help it would be highly appreciated. By the way nice video really helpfull... =)
go to the pixol logic site and download the help, its for free and tells you what you'd like to hear like the differance between using scale and zoom, click n drag on the icons btw
after creating a zsphere, just press T to start working on it. afterwards, you can press Q to go in draw to add more spheres, W to move them and E to rotate certain areas surrounding the spheres. Press A to go in and out of poly mode to take a look at how your model would look. Hope this helps. :)
i have zbrush but i have forgotten how to push something in like if you have the standart brush you get something ontop of you sphere but i dont know anymore how to push in in
I've noticed that when following your tutorial, after I've clicked make poly mesh3d, and exported the ,model as an obj. Then imported it the model into max, that it has made each of the three parts separate models. Is there a way of keeping them as one model so I don't have to stitch it up in max?
Yes, under the tool menu, before exporting click auto-group or poly-group. I forget which one. Not sure which sub-menu of 'Tool' it is under but hunt around and you'll find it.
Thanks for that! I would never have worked that one out on my own. Just for other people who might wonder where it is, its in the "polygroups" roll out and click the button marked "auto groups".
Seeing as that question worked out so well I don't suppose you know how to do what ever the equivalent of 3dsmax's unwrap in Zbrush and how I could do the equivalent function of projection mapping in Zbrush? I've been doing it fine in max so far but max is very slow at importing high resolution models so I reckon my work flow could be sped up if I learned how to do this here.
Thanks for the video. The zspheres were really confusing me. Zbrush has such an odd interface compared to Lightmave, but there seems to be a really strong internal logic to it too.
if i have 2 meshes like i have a head i made and i want to make an eye with a new sphere and when i've made the eye i cant select the head! what do i do???? please answere! thanks!
My problem with zBrush is how everything fucks up by just pressing some things and there is no clue to how to get back to where you was at. Like i pressed EDIT in there just to test, and then everything becomes disfunctional, i need to restart the program and start over to work again. :P
ZB's UI is unique which can be very frustrating if you approach it like every other modeling program. You kind of have to learn to model differently in it which can be a real pain.
@InSaneTK no need too restart zbrush just open a new document and select the ztool you were working on and drag it back out on the 3d canvas start again where you left off
ZBrush is such an amazing program lol. It makes other modeling programs impossible to work with and with ZBrush, you can make anything look good even when you don't know what your making lol. Awesome tutorial. <3 ZBrush.
thanks... i need to hand in a cupcake shape thing 2mrw n i have no experience in this software at all so i'm getting stuck in everything but thanks for ur help so far...:)

It's the easiest way to create a "base mesh" to sculpt a body from, at least within ZBrush.

Go to the Transform menu, the activate symmetry button is in there. X axis is the most common.
