  • This MOS is slowly going away we are getting re-classes to 19D, The MOS is fun when you are doing it, but when not in the field you will know a broom very well..and dry sweep

  • Joining as an E-3 after Youth Challenge Acedemy, way quicker, way less bullshit.

  • this is my mos, i havent even left for basic (which armored is now at ft. benn.), im 19 and im already e-3. thank you eagle scout

  • It has been so long since Ive been on an M1A1! Video does bring back awesome memories!

  • @1changoguapo i think i found my job as an armor crewman. any advice?

  • @BATTLEFEELD3 I did OSUT at Ft. Knox but some people do Basic Training then AIT. EIther way, which ever you get just get through it, the real training is when you get to your duty station.

  • I'm starting off as an E-3 due to ROCK in high school

  • @MrPagani220 you mean JROTC?

  • How difficult is it to become a crewman?

  • don't be to disapointed when you don't get to run over tree's and shit lol you will learn how much it sucks to have to pull shit out of the road wheels and put track back on when you throw it because you wanted to run over shit lol

  • im sorry i love 0:36 as a driver you'll learn how to drive *OVER TREES AND SHIT* lol cant wait to ship! This is my MOS

  • i leave in 7 days to fort benning for basic and ait, Death Before Dismount!

  • ive wanted to be a tanker till i found out lowest raank in the tank ends up being the ammo bitch

  • @Avera9eWh1teShark6 hahahaha yeah... that shit sucks

  • @Avera9eWh1teShark6 You wont be a low rank forever, if you're not a shitbag! I went in as an E1 and am now E4 in less than 2 years.

  • @Avera9eWh1teShark6 whats wrong with that?

  • @BATTLEFEELD3 its not as fun as driving or firing the main gun.

  • i got 19kilo! im so excited but i dont ship to basic till january. gonna keep asking if spots open up so i can leave sooner. HOOAH!!

  • I can't wait I'm so pumped I'm watching YouTube vids HOOOOAAAAHHHH I'm armystrong

  • @WarriorsLegends I leave on the 26th for benning.

  • leave 3/25/11 for basic

  • The best job in the Army. 19k

  • @mosdefkrn I hear ya, its not a tankers job to be a "peace keeper" its our job to kill people.

  • 1:19 tey got the 50 cal up by the main gun. ?? Thats new to me. When I was a tanker we had the TC's station with the 50 mount. Must be a bitch to reload like that. It looks cool like that though

  • i dont care what people say about tankers dieing off.if there a dieing breed that just makes them that more speacial.

  • @Lboyer1992 same here im shippin out 3/15/2011. fort knox kentucky.....lol

  • @darkaskss HOOAH have fun with those hills. Agoney & misery. F 2/81 represent

  • Very dissapointed. I've wanted to do this for a long time and I just recently found out you need good vision. I wish I could pick my genes.

  • @NamesTakenify i feel sorry for you.wish you could maybe if you go speak to a recruiter there is always a way to get around stuff. but if your vision is terrible i dubt that will help.good luck.

  • @NamesTakenify lol what??? i have bad eye sight which is y i couldnt do infantry, so i chose dis MOS which is what they offered me, i was just at meps yesterday.

  • @ITZsitva954 huh? How bad is bad for infantry? I was thinking Cav Scout, but I use glasses, and I'm guessing that the same requirement is set for Cav Scout.

  • @Greyghostvol1 for infantry u need at least 20/20 WITH glasses. its impossible for me without surgery to get down to 20/20 even with glasses because of my estigmitsm. and yes its the same for cav scout i tried that as well

  • @Greyghostvol1

    GO CAV!!!!

  • 1:29 WTF how come they have the iron cross a german decoration ....theyr americans

  • @pkersoul thats there marksman badge for the rifle & 9mm pistol

  • @pkersoul

modern US science, military and domestic affairs are mostly based on nazi methods, from nazi scientists after ww2.

  • @patrikasLTL

    LOL!!!

    FAIL!

  • Do you have to have a civilian drivers licence to be a 19K?

  • i chose this MOS for the national guard. getting shipped for basic 20110726 but instead of going to fort knox like the rest of the 19k im going to fort bennings GA. can anyone tell me why?

  • @DanteHasAwakend Not sure why they are doing it, but from what I have heard they are completely closing down the basic training and AIT sides of Knox. most of it, from my understanding, is going to benning including 19K.

  • @CrazyRyne00 they told me i was going to fort knox and i ship out 20110315

  • @DanteHasAwakend I get shipped a day before you. and i m going to Ft. Benning also. I think they switched OSUT to Ft. Benning. I also heard they moved 19D to Ft. Benning also.

  • im 17 and im gonna join the army. im leaning towards infanty but i want to ask people who are in the army questions. my email is darkstar6@mchsi.com

  • dang this mos is pretty awesome i love the tanks the u.s army uses if i ever do enlist in the u.s army im trying 19k got sure

  • so whats going on with this MOS? id like to hear the real deal from active duty 19k guys. i keep on hearing all this shit, like you never actually get on a tank other than the one tank school at Ft. Knox, and that you get stuck doing some BS duty or the Army switches you MOS. please, can someone shed some light on whats going on with this MOS right now, or would I be better off as a Marine tanker?

  • @marleynrs8 No, they don't pull the carpet out from under you like that. The Army guarentees your job with a contract that specifically says you will be what you picked out. The Marine Corps lets you pick a field of work. Say you want to work with tanks you could end up being the guy that cleans the mud from the tracks. When you get 19 Kilo as your MOS your going to be on a tank.

  • @jomamadoug thanks for the reply. but, are tankers actually training and deploying on tanks? what i've heard is that alot of tankers are tanker qualified, but are being deployed as provisional infantry because tanks don't win "hearts and minds." also, ive heard that a few were switched to Cav Scouts. not a bad MOS either, but would be dissapointing if you love being a tanker.

  • @marleynrs8 I'm an infantryman and have never personally seen a dismounted tanker on patrol.

  • @jomamadoug The first time my unit deployed to Iraq, the whole unit was 19K qualified, but they all did dismounted and HMMWV patrols only.

  • @jdisasoldier what are dissmounted HMMWV patrols? and thanks for your speedy reply, it is very appreciated. i was wondering does anything accomplished at bootcamp have any sway on what you can do for example being a good marksman to possible sniper mos? dumb question but i thought i'd ask

  • @marleynrs8 Tanks primarily aren't being deployed because they aren't very useful in urban and mountainous warfare, especially when you're trying to rebuild a country instead of destroy it like we did with the initial shock and awe. And yes, my 19K unit was switched to Cav Scouts on MRAPs and/or Bradleys.

  • @jomamadoug This is complete BS. The Army can change your MOS at any time, and it is NOT in your contract that they will keep you your same MOS for the term of your enlistment. They will try, but they can reclassify you to a related field. It happened to every soldier in my unit... they were given the choice of 19D or 88M when the unit classed out all 19Ks.

  • @marleynrs8 Tanks just aren't really needed much in urban and mountainous warfare like what is taking place right now overseas. There will always be tankers, but the Army has reduced the numbers and switched people to 19D (scouts) and other related fields in recent years.

  • @jdisasoldier thanks for the info man. i might have to argue that Tanks are good in urban warfare though, read Thunder Run about the 3rd ID taking Baghdad. but you're right, I guess it not good for hearts and minds. as long as I would be reclassed to something combat arms like Cav Scouts I'd be ok with it.

  • i ship out to Fort Knox Aug 25 for 19K!

  • So is this mos pretty tight.

  • I dont enlist for a few more months but this is one of the MOS I want (Other is Combat Medic)

  • went to meps the other day...shipping out to ft. knox 20100824 19k

  • No better Job Than 19k Im Out Of The Army Now, Went As Far As Gunner And Every Gunnery Gave Me Wood When I Fired The 120mm And My M240 Coax. But As Far As Iraq, no Tanks, We Become "Tankantry" Tanker Infantry Or T.W.A.T. (Tankers Without A Tank). lol

  • this mos is kinda stupid when transitioning in the civilian world....cuz srly ur not gona b driving a tank on the highway...but in the army it looks like fun

  • @bloodsline Found this out the hard way. LOL. Combat arms is a great job, but doesn't get you anywhere in the civilian world. The only college credits they would give me were for PE.

  • I just took the oath on Friday. I ship out 20100825 to fort Knox. 19k to start might change to 11b on re enlist!!! Hooah!!

  • A lot of tanker whats up I am a 19D lol you didn't you couldn't get away from us scouts did ya lol

  • The truth about 19K is that youll only really get good tank training in OSUT. i graduated osut on 5/29/09. Its Feb 2010 and im just now doing gunnery, with mostly infantry style training leading up to it. We got issued tanks and 5 weeks later we'll be giving them right back. We going to iraq as dismounts.

  • Im red green colorblind fuck my life i just want to reclass as this !

  • Comment removed

  • This is the MOS I signed up for

  • @pcdude2010 Same, good luck.

  • 19k Hooah!

    January 27th Ft. Knox!!!!!!!!

  • Best job I ever had.

  • got 19k in my contract!

    feb 8 fort knox

  • Ill see you there buddy! same date same MOS!

    pv2 McLenachen

look me up when you get there!

  • I'm going the same time. See you there.

  • @springvalley88

march 3rd, fort knox. lets hope we dont get cancer from that depleted uranium :)

  • Enjoy boys - Tell misery and heartbreak I give my regards.

  • @deathinacan66 will do.. haha

  • @deathinacan66

    that's fucked up, dude... lol

  • at 1:30. Loader, you fail. Your gunnery load time is epicly slow. Go back to AIT, learn it again.

  • If your the dude on the turret do you get ear plugs, or anything to suppress the noise of the cannon?

  • the helmets have earmuffs..... all of them rofl...... and if your anything in the army you get earplugs

  • you get a CVC.

    it's a modified ACH, kinda.

    you'll see... ;)

  • DAT haha We aren't idiots we just like to have fun and like to break shit lol Tank mechanics just hate us because we break a lot of stuff and you guys have to fix it lol

  • Yeah, mechanics are haters bro. Oh, God forbid they actually have to do their job and fix something. I don't bitch when I have to bound on an objective or clear a building, I love that stuff. You probably don't bitch when you have to blow stuff up. If they didn't want to fix things they should not have decided to be a non combat, rear echelon fag.

  • ^^ that would be a Rear Echelon Mother Fu**er IE: REMF

  • Every tank mechanic knows that 19kilo's are idiots.

  • Why u say that? I'm going to be a 19k soon -.-

  • @Aucteg haha, why do you say that?

  • @Zeethr Check out my vid called "Sipple's tank" you'll see exactly what i had to deal with for five years

  • 19K or 19D? they both look very cool

  • 11X

  • You guys getting ready to go to Knox for 19K Just to let you know you wont ever be on tanks in any of the on going wars you will be Infantry that knows how to use tanks lolol Trust me on that one.

  • lol that's perfectly fine with me

  • Why?

  • ya i've heard this too

  • tanks own the battlefield, but in an asymmetrical environment, they're overkill at times. You don't want to be rolling into a key leader engagement with the Army's meanest killing machine... Kinda sends the wrong message... After a long ass patrol, you don't want to spend the next 12 hours conducting maintenance just so you can roll out for 3 or 4 more hours the next day.

  • i'm wanting to get into this after highschool

  • 9/09/09 shipping out to Fort Knoxs

  • Tell me how it goes.

  • SHIPPING OUT 20091103. CANT WAIT!!

  • that is such a bullshit date...

  • @freudenberg199182 Holy Shit so do i

  • How do you become part of a Bradley crewmember. Is that part of Cavalry Scout or is that different MOS

  • Tankers (Abrams) = 19Kilo

    Cav Scout (Bradleys) = 19Delta

  • Mechanized infantry uses bradleys as well.

  • I am elisting in October and i am in a bit of a struggle on the MOS that i want i either want 19K or 13M if anyone has advice please let me know and hieght is an issue i am am 4'10" exact

  • 4'10"????!!!

  • dead seriouse 58" taken by the danielson ct recruter sgt rahill

  • if i choose this is it true i might not get it

and if i do get moved were would i get moved 2

  • the best position on a tank is the driver...the most fun u will ever experience.. if there is one thing i miss about the army it was being with my tank....driving it was a dream come true..good luck to all u tankers...p.s. and go buy some tanker boots...

  • Is 19K open to Army Reserve? Or only active duty?

  • As of January, 2009 19K is not letting very many people in or out of the MOS for Active Duty. I don't know about reserve but it might be somewhat hard to get as Active.

  • wow i lucked out then cause my MOS is 19K, all in the contract now, i dont think they can turn around and say nope srry your goin to be somthin eles with out it being a breach of contract.

  • They can try and put you in another job, but since it wouldn't be on contract, you have no obligation and can just walk away.

  • not true - The Army can re-designate you as a 19D if the needs of the army are low on that MOS. You'll be fine as a 19k or a 19d. You'll get plenty enjoyment out of either MOS.

  • Fair enough XD

  • @helljumper24 Well, well, you are wrong about that. Read the contract again. Your MOS is never guaranteed. In fact, if you look closely at it, you had to select secondary MOS'.

  • @kilrbe3 I believe only active and a limited number of National Guard units. Not Reserve. I could be wrong, but Reserve is mostly support jobs from what I've seen.

  • i thought you couldn't stand behind an abrams engine due to the extreme heat it put out

  • nah you can. It comes in handy during the cold winter months, when your gear is all wet, or you need an mre cooked in no time flat. Grunts like the m1 for this soul reason - they sleep on the ground, and you sleep on the tank... in the morning they'll be the first to wake you to 'crank er up' so they can warm up - when its time to go, turn the Tac idle on.. they'll get the hint.

  • Leave 5/19 for this mos...any advice?

  • Right on brother. I join the army in may. I leave for Ft. Knox on June 11th. M1 Abram heart of the battle field

  • OSUT fucking sucks...that's about it...enjoy.

  • u right OSUT sucks....ft. knox...hahah

  • I am joining the army in 2015 I want to be to be a 19k

  • You're 12....lol....alright...not even going to say anything.

  • I go to 19K school in Ft Knox on 5/5... Kinda excited myself..

  • im also going to the army for the same thing. But i leave for Knox on june 11th

  • no shit! i leave on 5/5 as well but i dont get to reception untill may 6th. Is that same deal with you?

  • That's normal, you'll spend an extra day normally at MEPS before you leave. I left on 12/29 to report on 12/30, but I didn't actually leave on a plane until 12/30 I had to spend another day at MEPS.

  • yeah iv been told that after i leave from MEPS ill be at reception batalion for a few days.

  • btw i go straight from nashville to Ft. Knox ill be on a bus the whole time. Its funny how Ft.Knox is only a 2 hour drive for me but yet i have to travel 2-3 hours out of the way first lol.

  • If you enlist for this MOS just know in advance you might never actually be on a tank.

I was a 19D for two years and was never on a tank after OSUT. My unit deployed to Iraq on HMMWVs and then they turned our whole battalion into a cav squadron about a year after the unit came home.

  • well duh youre not going to be on a tank as a 19 D Cav Scout. this is 19K M1 Abrams Crewmember

  • Comment removed

  • Oops that should've said I was a 19K for two years. My bad.

I wasn't a D until after the transition. Did pretty much the same exact thing though, only on a Brad instead of the HMMWV I was on as a "tanker."

  • oh.. i see.

  • Yeah, I'm sure it varies by unit though. Could have been because we were going to be making that transition to a Cav U/A soon. But there just weren't a lot of tankers in Iraq on tanks. My buddy in Afghanistan from basic training at the 2-81 at Knox isn't on one either. Just not the right weapon for the missions currently. It's a shock and awe weapon it seems like, plus the people we're fighting don't have much armor.

  • true that.. im just hoping I don't get shafted cause this is my MOS that i enlisted as.. even though I dont leave until July.

  • The opposite sort of happened to me, I enlisted as 19D and they ran out of slots and sent me as a 19K (didn't even find out until the day I shipped from MEPS).

Some guys though in my unit were pissed they got back from 19K school about a month before the Army restructured us into a Cav unit and everyone who wasn't 19D qualified had to go back to school again.

I had already gone back for 19D MOS though because it was my original MOS so I chilled doing nothing for a year basically. Ha.

  • oh.. well thats some crappy luck. glad you got it all figured out.

  • Do you know who is actually gonna be on a tank then? I am going in as 19k... That is not cool man.

  • If you go in as 19K, and they actually send you to the right OSUT, then you will be 19K, at least during training. Don't expect to be tanking always, especially if you deploy. Recruiters probably tell you not to listen to what you hear on the Internet all the time, but find some real 19Ks then to ask. Every 19K in my unit changed to 19D against their will. The unit has deployed twice and never on tanks. HMMWVs, Bradleys last time, and now this deployment currently my unit is in MRAPs.

  • Wait how do you just become a Bradley crewman i want to be that but am confussed on how to and also why would you be in a HMMWV your a tanker for crying out loud.

  • same, I was told that I could reclass as 1D or be a spoon. So now I get to walk a lot...

  • @jdisasoldier is there truth when you say that the army can designate different mos from your original one? i am a 13m and i read in another vid on that mos that it is the worst job to have in the army. you seem to have a lot of experience and i thank you for your comment. what does the next 8 months look like in the middle east? do you know what kind of chances i am looking at for being deployed to the middle east as an 13m? again tanks.

  • @Zeethr Hi, I'm going to try to answer your questions:

    1) The Army can change your MOS at any time they want, and it is not considered to void your contract. It happened to me. Depends on what Mother Army needs. Usually, it'll be to a related MOS, though, like 19K to 19D.

    2) I have no idea what the situation in the Middle East will turn to, aside from what the plans of the president are that have been reported in the news.

    3) Your chances for being deployed are high right now regardless of MOS.

  • youll be on a tank

  • Where is this taught at? What Fort?

  • OSUT for 19k is at Ft. Knox. It was 16 weeks when I went through it. Why carry a weapon when the weapon will carry you!

  • bad ass MOS

  • My husband just enlisted today into this MOS. Any feedback would be great.

  • If hes send do iraq he would most likely be sitting around outside towns...no danger for him...

  • I wouldn't count on it. Many tankers now do urban ops because there is no use for the tanks. My unit spent a lot of time doing urban ops on HMMWVs and used the tanks very little, some not at all. We were lucky to only lose one in an IED blast.

  • Expect a few letters and phone calls on Sundays once he's out of red phase. Write him often, letters from home make the living hell they put him through livable. Try to see him on family day and attend his graduation. For most people, this is the hardest thing they will ever accomplish. Being on a tank is one of the safest MOS in combat arms. Please give my brother tanker my thanks for his service.

  • how about color vision? i know u need normal vision but theres a lil leeway at MEPS... they told me "within limits" but.. what are the limits.. anyone know?

  • you can't be above 6'2 to be 19k

  • really? crap i was really interested in this MOS

  • You can get a waiver for anything.

  • Alpha Co. 3rd Plt. 1/67 armor 4ID 02-04

  • securi385, what is your name? I was alpha co. 1/67 armor from 01 to 04. Cpl Robinson, gunner 2nd platoon A22 tank. Jake Seech was my TC.

  • I am about 6'3, is there a waiver?if not, ill just go 19d, 13f,or 11b.

  • nah ive seen tankers, scouts and infantry that are 6'10''.....youll be fine

  • idk b/c at my Meps it said u cant be like over 6'1 I'm 5'11 and they said i barely made it

  • Im thinking about enlisting and this is what I wanted to do but im 6'4" so I want to be a calvary scout instead

  • greatest job in the army!!!

  • just reserved this job today. leave for WTC jan 7 then to knox for tank training. hope i made a good decision. im coming from airforce back shop aircraft hydraulics to tank crewman

  • im going to Fort Knox in 2 weeks to become an M1 Armored Crewman. fun job... hardly anyone in the world gets to have this same expirence. go tankers!!!!

  • Hey did you get to drive tank alot ever since?

  • I just got a reservation for this job,

Idk if its good or not.

But I think it would be cool.

M1 Armor Crewman reporting for duty. ^ ^

  • Fought with the 1st Inf. div during Desert Storm in 1990. Had 17 tank kills. Tanks kick ass.

  • I just graduated as a 19K out of Fort Knox 3 days ago and my first duty station is Fort Bliss, TX. Armored Cavalry all the way! Hooah!

  • Cool, I was in Charlie Company 2-81, I graduated May 9th 08, and now I'm at Ft. Bliss.

  • Ill be leaveing either in June or October for Knox Hooah!!!!!

  • less than 12 hours im off to Knox.....HOOAH!!!

  • God....

I miss that job so much! D:

Stupid "needs of the army" making me a scout

  • You can take the man out of tanks, you can never take the tank out of the man.

  • That's my job!

    Nice video!

  • Saw this over at the Army Nation
