in the ordering was quite wrong it should of been all the original people first then the newbies. must they put the black people at the end? anyhow i like how they used the old entry
Hi,anyone out there know how come the British tv channel - "channel 4" didnt have this theme played in the last couple of seasons. I am suprised seeing this video, it actually existed. It really annoyed me that channel 4 didnt show it. I felt it odd that the program just started and all the cast names appeared at the bottom of the screen. Then usually followed by a commercial break before it had even been on the air for 5 minutes. Hope the writers bring back a few feature length episodes!!
@Whacko34 even though mark greene died he did however make a guest appearance in the final season in an episode that had flashbacks i do wish they didnt kill him off though :/

I miss this show more than anything. To fill the void ER left in April 2009, I started watching Grey's Anatomy, which I really like, but it will NEVER have the same place in my heart that ER did. It's ALWAYS going to be my favorite show and that will never change.
The seminal line throughout the series as leading characters left was "you set the tone now" for the ER. It makes a good line to use in life sometimes. One of the last "apppointment" TV series, it will be sorely missed but will live on in syndication for eternity.
This intro gives me the chills, I can't believe they ditched it. I only just started actually getting into the show, they're showing the newer series here in Australia.
To be fair... ER started losing ratings when it lost Tony Edwards. Greene WAS ER and Noah Wylde wasn't a strong enough lead to carry the show, neither was Kovac, because ER fans who watched it from the beginning remember Greene more than anyone. Leaning back on his chair in the credits.
God this gives me goosebumps!! This show was such a huge part of my childhood, i watched it every thursday night for as far back as I can remember. I always new that when the credits would come up at the end that it was my bed time. haha oh man the nostalgia!
so glad they did this opening for the finale episode! although i think laura innes should've been atthe end bursting through the doors at 0:38 like they used to in the past openings.
They got rid of the theme is the final few seasons for the same reasons tv themes are being eliminated form all tv shows...tv producers think it takes up too much time. However tv themes are part of the fabric of television, and people love theme. So getting rid of theme just does not make any sense. So it takes up an extra minute...who cares! I was very happy they included the original theme to the series finale of ER. At least somebody there knew the value of it!
yeah. it's sad. But a few series still knows the athmospheric use of an intro, like House, Weeds (every episode another song variation) and more. If the theme begins i forget a hard working day and go into the tv world. The sudden beginning is bad.
@tvops It might be because of LOST, a 10 second intro ... But I think it's better having no credits. You watch 4 episodes of ER in a day with 4 opening credits and it's always the same, you can get tired of it ... I like the Lost-like intro
@guyomC75 ohh nooo the credits make a show, especially this one, the theme song to er gets me pumped for my pre-med career, and biology exams. Tv themes give people something to get pumped about, its like going to the movies and seeing no previews, it just doesn't work. And obviously you enjoy the theme of er or else you wouldn't be on youtube watching it lol :) heyyy its cool if you secretly like it lol
I was so happy to see them play the original theme tune one last time, I was really dissapointed when they stopped using it. It was gr8 seeing Kerry, Lizzy and the others although there were some that I wished were in it like Abbie and Luca.
i cryed when i watched the ER finale, ive been watching it, from start to finish, and i was so disapointed when they took the opening theme out, and was SOO happy when they put it in for the finale. Its a great show and will go down in history as the best medical..no...just drama of all time, greys, nor house can come close to it. great job to the late michael crighton and my prayors go out to the wells family. Thank you ER for having a HUGE impact on my life.
Best Drama ever! They should never have taken the theme away-one of the best for a television show! Series 1,2 and 3 are coming tomorrow from Amazon and I cant wait! Here in the UK and Ireland we cant make shows that come even close to this!
it's just great to see the original opening credits back, btw, i can't remember that Carter sitting on a chair and turning around is from which episode, anyone know?
How great they brought this intro back for the final episode, a reminder of how great James Newton Howard's theme is. James composed the film scores for The Prince of TIdes and The Fugitive, both of them fantastic compositions.
Love this. But the ordering is odd. Take out the returning cameos, and are we led to believe that out of the current cast, Brenner was the lead? Seriously? I'd have thought a chronological order would have been more appropriate?
Can't figure out if there's any logic to it. They've been mixing former cast with the current cast in the main credits most of the season. Noah Wyle was listed as the starring regular in all five of his episodes, but he was just a guest star when he did four episodes in season 12. Anthony Edwards was back at the top of the credits for his episode, although in the same episode Paul McCrane and Laura Innes were credited as guests. But then, Laura Innes was credited as a regular in the finale.
Even though not all of the old cast members were put into the final episodes, it would have been cool to do a really fast intro using all of the characters ever appearing as a main cast member. If you think about it the number is amazing so it would have been nice to see them all together.
Glad they used the old intro, but it has a weird ordering. It's like they grouped together the oldies, the British, the newbies, and the black people, lol.
It should've went in chronological order: Noah, Sherry, Eriq, Laura, Alex, Parminder, Scott, Linda, John, David, and Angela.
that was awsome could u imagine if that was the current cast of the show for the last season that would hhave been awsome with carter, lewis, weaver, benton and the rest..
Thanks for putting this up!!! I loved the way the closed out the show playing the opening theme. Just Awesome!!! I think it's time for the ER movie!!!
bring back ER!!!!! this was the best hospital drama show
