On easy, normal, vs, and I think advanced, you don't have to hit the witch in the head to one-shot her. As long as all your pellets hit her body she'll die.
in advanced you gotta hit the head, just in easy, normal, and versus. but any ways, when theres a witch, ur supposed to make it effective by screwing up their crown like a smoker pull or a boomer puke for instance.

As for SI protecting her, I seldom see the witch downing anybody. Even if she gets startled, the survivor team usually takes her down very quickly, often times while the SI are attacking. The point is that she's too weak to be effective, especially since she shows up less often that tanks.

90% of the time if i'm still spawning and there's a witch i will attack with her and end up with a successful double team.
however, if i'm midspawn and they're closing in on her fast there's a good chance they will get her before i do. definately funny to watch my score jump by 500 or so when it works.

And at which difficulty did you do that? Because only on Expert does it matter for it to be right on her head (or below her head due to messy hitbox). Any other difficulty doesn't matter where you hit her, as kraljevo8 pointed out.
-.- you need to practice more. a back shot will kill her... a chest shot will kill her... anywhere you shoot her (as long as your entire shotgun shell hits her) will kill her on normal and vs.
I usually just jump on the witch as a boomer before they get a chance to crown her. did this in week 1 of cal and they guy nearly ragequit. the crowingshot killed me, got him and another survivor boomed and knocked down by the witch. :)
well then he's not doing it right lol. where did you drop from? if you were in an alley, a smart survivor would watch the roof as well as the ground lol. so you probably would've been shot off of the roof, imo. maybe you're a ninja boomer, that would solve everything :D

I think a simple solution would be just putting the expert level witch into versus games. I know the Tank is a hybrid of sorts, with 6k health, which is between advanced and expert level health; why not the witch?

It's on versus. why would i try something on expert that i know would fail? you need to totally hs her. any bit of your shot that misses her head=death. read the description, i said i wanted the VERSUS witch to be changed. campaign witch is fine.
thats happened to me, worked perfectly. she incapped someone else that shot her instead of the hunter on me, then we got owned by a chain reaction of special infected :(
it's just about timing. you have to pull the trigger on her chest/collar bone about 1/8 of a second before she hits you. practice it with god mode on in a single player game. you'll get the hang of it.
yeah i spawned a bunch to test it out w/o god mode :P waaay too easy... to think of all those molotovs wasted on slowing her down so a whole team could safely fire when it just takes a lousy pump w/ a little luck from the lord of latency. still we play pretty competitively so id hate to see her become overpowered w/ the proper help

The Witch takes 100% damage anywhere on Easy, Normal, and Versus, killing her as long as all bullets hit her
On Expert, the Witch only takes 70% damage if it is not a headshot, so a headshot is required, but only on EXPERT not VERSUS

Eh... In Versus mode just have a hunter pounce whomever is going to attempt to cr0wn the witch, then if possible support that with a boomer.
Works well plenty of times.
If you don't like that you could attempt to smoker pull someone past her, or boomer hide behind the witch.

the infected team's window is far too small for them to attack when tactics as shown in the video are employed.
also, some people ARE good enough to strike in that small time window, but it's just as easy to fake them out.
