  • This always makes me happy.

  • True Romance was only written by Tarantino, but directed by Tony Scott.

  • @uncletyrone it was my understanding that when Tarantino wrote the screenplay he specified that the film begin with Musica Poetica, and Hans Zimmer then included it in the score. Either way... my point is that it is also played over and over in True Romance.

  • The local television station in Abilene Texas used this music as background for commercials in 1963. I had been looking for it for so many years! Wow!!!

  • @rkernell

Sounds like the local news station had good taste! Interesting comment. Thanks,

    C.

  • @rkernell That film they're on about below 'Badlands' is set in Texas 1963 as well.

  • I remember hearing it in "True Romance" as well ...

  • MAGNIFICIENTLY UPLIFTING

  • OK it's official - this is youtube's best rendition of gassenhauer. Crisp and precise, never rushing.

  • Hi, I'm looking for the song played when the bounty hunters find them in the forest... Anybody knows what's the title of that song?

  • @MrClemF 'Theme Migration' by James Taylor, not the youtube versions.

  • @ChorltonBrook Thanks! But I can't find it on the internet =(

  • @MrClemF Try -- Migration | James Taylor Song - Yahoo! Music -- as a Google search? My cookie blockers won't allow it though maybe yours will.

  • @ChorltonBrook Yahoo Music doesn't work here either. I've found it on Spotify though, it's good, but not the one I was looking for :/

  • @MrClemF Well good luck anyway and Happy New Year.

  • This song was played over and over in the movie "badlands" with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek, and I must admit - my whole family fell in love with it! It's totally awesome and fun! Great song

  • @TwinkiesCanFly

I agree and loved the movie, which I finally own. Thanks. C.

  • @ceb2633 Haha I thought the movie was kind of strange, and although Martin Sheen is much cuter than his mess-up son, his character was kind of scary! Oh well (:Great sound track though!

  • @TwinkiesCanFly

Based on a real character who was even scarier. Fortunately, Martin Sheen can act which is more than I can say for his messed up son, in my humble opinion. C.

  • @TwinkiesCanFly it was also played over and over in Tarantino's "True Romance" - he chose this song because of its use in Badlands. :)

  • @pumpjackchick That's cool!

  • @TwinkiesCanFly Do you, or does anyone else know the name of the song used in the fire scene in Badlands? I can't find it anywhere :(

  • The magic of this piece of music. it seems to me, is to be a conflict of simutaneous carefree joy and a pending sorrow just out arround the corner. It seems so happy and sad at the same time, like life. We all should be glad as winning the lottery for being alive, and in a way being born is a big win, what are the chances nowadays, yet how many of us spend our lives wasting time on what we don't have without appreciating what we do have.

  • Hi, this music is brilliant, i love her!

Can you send me this music from my e-mail, i will appreciate very much.

    joao14@live.com.pt

    Thank you so much

  • I wish this song was longer; so i don't have to keep hitting repeat

  • didn't they play this in finding forester?

  • @goblinrogers

I really don't know, having not seen the movie.

  • Comment removed

  • @goblinrogers Hans Zimmer did a version of it for True Romance

  • @goblinrogers Yes, they did. In the scene where he's riding his bike down the street. Great movie.

  • @goblinrogers yes they did, u can hear it when sean connery is riding the bike :)

  • @goblinrogers yes this is also on the soundtrack to Finding Forrester - a great film!

  • @goblinrogers yes, that's correct. and also in a very old JB's advertisement.

  • @goblinrogers yes they did, when hes riding his bike :)

JFMP. OK.

  • I have searched for this piece for a LONG time and never thought of YouTube! Thank you a million times over for posting!

  • @adamsmrt

I am so glad you found it. I have found some amazing things on Youtube, too. Thanks for stopping by.

    C.

  • @adamsmrt lol same here.. I dont know where I heard it first but it stuck in my head. Its been pooping in and out of my memmory for a good decade., good to finally hear it in its entirety

  • great job! Would anyone mind if I call Tarrantino a plagiarist?

  • Exactly what Doderhultarn89hat said. X

  • This is so beautiful!!!

  • reminds me of the ost to true romance.. anyone else?

  • @djwolde Quentin Tarantino's "True Romance" was inspired by Terrence Malick's "Badlands". This was the original soundtrack in Badlands. True Romance is featuring a tweaked version of the same musical piece

  • @klauzes yeah, the melody is the same as in true romance but its definately a rework. nice to know. i'll check out badlands! always good to know what inspired your heroes ;)

  • brings out the child in all of us so beautifully - i love this piece.

  • This was the portion of the Badlands soundtrack I really liked ("Musica Poetica"). The operetta sections didn't work for me dramatically at all.

  • @doderhultam89, i only play the end of the movie badlands just to listen to this.

  • True Romance soundtrack seems almost the same.. but i bet this one was there earlier

  • @WhiskeyArjan Indeed, the composer of True Romance, Hans Zimmer, was asked by Tarrantino to make the music as an homage to Badlands... as is the film itself.

  • First heard this in the movie "Badlands" with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek. As a pro dj at the time, I was on a mission to find it and add it to my collection. I finally managed to track it down in Germany via many phone calls and I now own the complete vinyl box sets from 1-10 Carl Orff & Gunild Keetman "Musica Poetica". Many years on and I also have the CD. Absolute top draw. Thank you!

  • @aja24 Dude, we dont want your life story. Cheers.

  • @ADZ01982 That's good.....as I don't want yours either.......'Dude'

  • This definitely deserves more views. I saw the movie Badlands two weeks ago and I have listened to this at list once every day. An absolutely wonderful piece of music that makes me smile every time I hear it.

  • @Doderhultarn89

Very interesting comment. Great minds and all that...I finally got a new copy of the movie and have watched it twice...wonderful movie and the Orff and Satie music is out of this world. A sound track is actually included, but when I uploaded another part of the Carmina, it was yanked off immediately. This excerpt is from an older recording and IMHO is perfect. Thanks for listening. C.

  • @ceb2633 @Doderhultarn89 watched Badlands last night as I've been getting into Terrence Malick's films and fell in love with piece, works so well. Even Quentin Tarantino asked for a similar piece to be written for his homage to Badlands, True Romance. Thanks for this upload :)

  • Badlands brought me here

  • This piece is heavenly!

  • Bonsoir

  • I love this piece of music.

  • Like most of the other people here i got this from badlands. But in the movie i think the speed up the tempo, it seems faster in the movie. good song though

  • @telephone33333 I think they did speed it up in the movie. I love this music too.

  • @telephone33333 >>>Try the unclelez uploaded version.

  • just seen the movie, glad for finding the soundtrack that soon, I love it, so simple

  • Sorry, John, my dear, I LOVE the percussion. Makes me leap out of my seat, which is a cute feat at my age. C.

  • @ceb2633 I completely agree and Satie's gnossienne no 5 is one of my all time favourites

  • first got into this from "badlands" i now have it on my mp3.

  • "Badlands" is a terrific movie with an incredible sound track, which they never recorded seperately....as far as I know. Orff and Satie, not bad.

  • "Badlands" i read somewhere is Tarantinos favourite film and his major influence.

  • This is really lyrical; almost rings with a nursery-rhyme quality. One can possibly do without the percussive over-rides as an instrumental fibre build-up. But who am I to say? Not too crazy about drums of late, given the dearth of music in today's world. As for the "32 views" preceding mine...c'mon, guys, bequeath a comment/rating or two upon Carl...or do words fail you? Quizzically, John
