this is a song that would always make me cry because my husband had passed away and it was his favorite song but i learned to keep a smile on my face and to thank the lord for giving me strenght through the years this was a classic chaka chicago finest mark /shirley forever 2012
Flawless, moody and broody - a true song, beautifully sung with passion about the real Hollywood - Only Chaka Khan could have given this song true life - subdued and moving. Hitting all the vocal highs and lows of life in a place a great highs and extreme lows.
Saw them in concert in the 80's in Philly. Right before Chaka went solo. They brought the house down, The whole group rocked! Hell of a live concert. The Bros Johnson shared the bill.
I have been lifelong fan of Chaka and Rufus. They have made so many hits over the years. I grew listening to this music in the Motown. When I was teenage, I had tickets to see Chaka Khan and Rufus. I misplaced the tickets and cried like a baby. To this day, I never got the opportunity to see Chaka perform live. She has an incredible voice; unique and beautiful.
One of Chaka Khan's lesser known recordings to the broader radio listening public (those who follow all the tracks of each album know it well though); a fabulous masterpiece. She sings it with a somewhat subdued, contemplative feel. The music is a mood piece too. But she still belts it out at those "Chaka-perfect" moments.
has the group entered the rock and roll hall of fame? with all that hair, she looks like george clintons pretty twin sister. and i don't say that being mean.
Love, Love this song. Good entertainers & good music make the best memories that we carry on in our minds forever. This is one of my faorite songs of all times. I listen to it each & everyday because it takes me back to a time of peace, joy, love & happiness came so easy. Blessings to good people & music.
This is my all-time, absolute favorite song. Never get enough of listening to my jam Hollywood. Chaka kicks butt on this funky and soulful classic. Love you Chaka! Please come home to Chicago again soon. We love you and miss you!
My Ever Loving All time female singer ever, next to Diana Ross of course. First it was Diana then Aretha who owned the 60s early 70s . by mid late 70s Chaka had arrived. and not since the arrival of Whitney Houston whom herself praise Chaka. have there been such a voice. sadly although both used drugs. Chaka still can belt out her songs and still can hit those notes. Whitney sadly cant. and shes ten yrs younger than Chaka.
Thanks for posting this, reminds me of my dad. Music connoisseur that he was, he really loved Chaka Khan and this song's lyrics. Chaka is truly beautiful in so many ways.
