Hi I think I have ocd. Need help. no medical coverage and wheni had it no one would take my coverage. any info at all on where to begin would really help. also help from family seems to be very out of question. thanks.
i was diagnosed when i was 18, shortly after moving home and having my daughter.
the house i grew up in was extremely clutted and dirty, and i believe as a result of moving out my compulsions where triggered.
i'm now 21 and living with OCD has got alot easier (although i do still have bad days) sometimes i do cry over it and, thats ok because it helps me to pick myself back up.
I have OCD and I am definitely not a clean person as are most people with OCD, but everything I do has to be done in a certain way. For example, when I load the dishwasher, forks have to go with forks, knives with knives, ect, and they have to be the same kind of fork. A small fork cannot have a large fork with it, if it is wrong, I have to fix it, which can forever. This is the way I do everything. I think I have had it all my life, but I was not diagnosed with until I was in middle school.
I've had OCD most my life, and didn't even realize it until I was diagnosed last year at age 53...
I've had major triggers in the last 4 years (wife's cancer, change of job, two friends died, father-in-law died, pet's died, ect...)
I tend to have excessive doubt, fear of failing, and needing reassurance or verification ...
I compulsions are things like checking, touching or tapping, washing hands, collecting/hoarding... I also have compulsive hair pulling (Trichotillomania)...
In my opinion, OCD should be categorized as an other form of addiction. In fact we as an individual , are addicted to our own likes. It is simply we love doing things that make us feel good and hence form a habit out of it.To give up OCD, one must feel conscxious (with a sense of awareness) of what activity he is doing and reason out to negotiate with the mind as to why he has to do that particular activity
my ocd is i cannot have anything that is not even i almost had a heart attack when i hyperventilated because they gave me 29 skittles at school. also when i look at a word i have to count how many letters are in the word and make sure it is even and if it is not then i have to count it over and over again i just cannot ignore it.
i have like 4-5 OCD's. one is that i have to keep going to pee before i can eat, another is that i have to keep closing the bag(such as a chip bag) over and over and over again making sure that all the air is out(i'm afraid they will get stale), and there's more, i just can't think right now. i'm glad that i'm looking up ways to stop them though. also meditation seems to be helping me.
i used to think i had anxiety and was treated for it for years...funny thing is that i only get anxiety when in a relationship and its like servere anxiety....sum1 suggested that it might be OCD and the more i learn about it, the more it makes sense
i have ocd most of my problem is a fear of hurting others which of course i would never do realizing that these thoughts are doubts and lies is a good step towards getting better...if any one else suffers from this pleez reply
I had OCD and have been cured. The thoughts not to harm others are the usual thoughts. Read every day a prayer you can find as first search result on google for "the akathist to Jesus". This is how I have been cured. After every Eikhos say:
Dear God please forgive my sins unbind all magic done against me, and send away the bad spirits on desert where nothing is living and don't let them come back again.
The prayer is so powerfull since contains name of Jesus that drives away bad spirits.
Ummm, I have OCD and that really does sound like a ritual to me. Can you show me how it is not just another OCD ritual to temporarily relieve the anxiety?
It's not a ritual since after 40 days you're cured and do not need to continue if you want. Also you'll not have compulsion to do it, rather you may have to work to do it.
If you want something even more powerful read daily 3 Psalms beside that prayer. One more thing. To make sure the problem is not from contamined water go in first 24hours after OCD crysis without telling anybody to make full blood and urine analysis including urine with sediment to make sure there are not unwanted substances there that can give problems. If you go after 24h, substances can get out of body, so it may be useless.
Yes, de-legitimizing the intrusive thoughts as not being your own really helps. Once you do that, that clears the way for you to expose yourself to those horrible unpleasant thoughts intentionally to bring the anxiety so you can feel it, hold it, allow it to be, and allow it to dissipate.
thank you very much..what you are saying is absolutely true ...although its taken me over 10 yrs to get to a place to realize this....but thank you so much for the clear way that you explained it...it helps
The thoughts you have with OCD are not yours so there is no sin in having them. If tired of OCD do this for 40 days:
1.Every night read the"Akathist to Jesus" that you can find on google. Jesus name will clean your mind. Don't be bothered by thoughts you're having by reading. CONTINUE!!!!
2.After each Eikos say: God forgive my sins, unbind the magic done on myself, send away bad spirits to desert where nothing is living and don't let them come again.
Are you from Romania? I have a friend from Romania but have lost contact and don't know how to find him again. We met in Germany, but I think he lives in Timisoara now. He was a preacher by the name of Ion Rado
All true, I've been rather "fixated" on shit my entire life, but it wasn't till last year, when I turned 18 and was under a LOT of stress that it all came boiling up and I got diagnosed. One weird intrusive thought and there we go, all the way to hell x) Thanks for the vid.
God has really helped me with this problem every time i say a prayer I always am really repetitive with this line: Dear God please don't let me have a bad thought about anything and if I do please don't let it come true cause I know it's not true, that honestly made my bad thoughts go down from around an 8 to a 3 or 4
I suffered from ocd, until Jesus set me free from these demons. Jesus made me realize that he was in control of my life, and that his grace was sufficient for me cast your burdens on Jesus, He is the Lord mighty in battle , and will fight these demons for you. It is spiritual warfare!
Not a brain disorder, or chemical imbalance! I know I suffered threw treatment, and it didn't help only knowing what i was dealing with, and having a relationship with Jesus Christ set me free from the hell!
I'm pretty sure I have ocd, but it used to be really bad and now it only controls things like blinking and wrist movements, should I still get help? Im guessing its just going away because its not as bad as before, so in the future it should be all gone?
I get that too , the difference is that you probably don't experience any nerve wrecking anxiety while doing it. It's a bit annoying to see people say this, it feels like serious OCD is brushed aside because 'most people have some small innocent OCD symptoms' . Sorry had to vent.
OCD kicked in for me 3 years ago (i'm 24) and I cannot really remember if that was because I could have some early OCD symptoms during childhood. What I know for sure is that it happened because of massive amounts of stress combined with constant analyzing of past events. That lead to obsessions which combined with stress lead into scary thoughts i get everyday now, which i hate and want to get rid of for almost 3 years now.
I have the "purely obsessional" OCD where the compulsion is to mentally fix or put back in place something from the past that seems out of place. It is horrible when it gets going, it used to consume every minute of every day. I have used CBT/ERP and am functional now. The worst part is when it tangles itself into legitimate feelings of loss, remorse, etc. and then I have to separate them to treat the real feelings appropriately and then deal with the remaining OCD.
"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Only in God we have Salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. By believing that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour you are Saved. Only God has all the pover to heal you. If you really suffer from OCD trust God and He will deliver you.

You're welcome.
It thoughts came when reading the prayer don't stop. CONTINUE.
If thought will ask you not to continue the prayer because of any reason, DON'T DO IT. CONTINUE.
It will become easier and easier to finish the prayer as you go.

i strongley feel that my OCD is a result of a skin desease i had 2 years ago.
TWO YEARS!!! and im still traumatised, haunted, upset by it (whatever turn of phrase u want to use)
AS a result im Obsessed with being clean. My hands are like sandpaper from constant washing.
It goes beyond my hands though. its everything.
OCD is a living nightmare and i hate when people make fun.
Sufferers dont choose to be this way.
I hate every second of it.
