I will be running out to purchase my ingrediants for these greens. You had my mouth watering! Lol ....YOU HAVE YOURSELF A NEW SUBBIE!

  • @MsIcyunvme Hi Hun, Thanks so much for watching and subbing. I appreciate it and I'm glad I've got you hookin' it up in the kitchen :D

  • what is your regi? if you have one

  • hello, i just stumbled across your video,i must say the food looks great, but i could not get over your hair, it's so long and pretty

  • Is there a way to make buttermilk or an adequate substitute for it? Don't sell it here in Japan.

  • @japanascope Whole milk would be ok to use in place of the buttermilk. Hope this helps :)

  • Happy New Year Carolyn! : ) This meal is by far my favorite to eat. Next to red beans and rice! My father and mother are from the South. Mom(Ark) and Dad LA...so I was raised on these foods and cabbage! : ) GREAT job on the cornbread...very close to my mothers so that's some awesome cornbread. I can't wait to try your recipes!

  • @MsKimlo Thanks Hun, for all of your comments :) Have fun!

  • Love your cooking! Will purchase seasoning! I have an off topic question however, what type of mic are you using for ur videos. Picks up your voice well. Thanks.

  • @HamptonBluTV Well, I don't know the name. I'm actually wired to the camera on my right. The mic is attached to my shirt. I'll be getting a lavalier soon so I can move a little more freely. But that's all I know.

  • @HamptonBluTV It's a Sony ECM-44B wired lavalier microphone.

  • Carolyn, I love my GD seasoning!

  • @shazzeeo Fantastic! :)

  • hi carolyn, happy new yr! recipe looks great...my mom cooked several big pots of greens over xmas holiday, she grow collards, turnips, mustard, kale in her garden. she froze me a few bags to take home so i'm good til march, lol!

  • @rintube12 Thanks Dear and happy new year also :)

  • Ms. Carolyn, I made these greens for a New Years Eve party dinner and took them in the hopes that I would have some left for me later on New Years Day. Chile those greens were gone less than one hour. Greens cook down so much. I only use collard greens, I buy my greens on the leaves so I have to roll them up like little cigars and cut them the way my grandma used to do. But yes onion and garlic add so much. It's a pleasure to watch your videos, your enjoyment of cooking shines thru.

  • @nancydrew5 Thanks so much and I'm glad you enjoyed the fruits of your labor. Yeah, next double the recipe and put your private stash to the side to enjoy the next day lol.

  • love ur recipes. wat is da difference between broth n stock? also is there a reason y u use broth to boil da smoked turkey 4 greens in dis vid but wen u did black eyed peas wen boiling hamhocks u used stock. n last question if a recipe calls 4 eitha stock or broth can u use the otha. thanks in advance n have a nice week

  • @alwayztrue2self There's a slight difference if ur making it from scratch. We're not :) However, when ur using it in recipes u can use either one. I use broth/stock in place of water to get more flavor whenever possible. You can even use it when you make something as simple as rice, swap the water for broth/stock. Thanks for watchin

  • Hello Ms. C. I just subscribe to your channel and I'm really taken by your cornbread...can you kindly email me the measurements or quantity to make this treat? Thanks i really appreciate it, will like to try it as part of my Trinidad Christmas menu.

  • @vexmeh Hi Hun, the recipe link is in the description box below the video.

  • Hey Carolyn, I made the cornbread this evening. It is really good but it believe I might have over cooked it. I set the timer for the time you suggested and it almost burned. I used a 9 by 13 pyrex glass dish... I would suggest everyone set their timer for 30 minutes and check every 5 minutes or so.

  • @MsNJohnson Yeah, that is the true time. So I added the annotation and I'll make the adjustment on my recipe. Typing too fast. I believe I put 35 to 40. Thanks!

  • "Turn on your radio & look for stems" Excellent advice.

Great to cook with great tunes!

Great video Carolyn, everything looks superb!

  • Ms. Carolyn you've done it again. I think i'll make those greens for this pot-luck at my job on friday! I've gotta make it for 30 people. How many times should I do the recipe for ?

  • @DivaBeaute Greens cook down so much. I would do it 3 times especially if you're the only one bringing greens.

  • Looks good thanks for sharing miss Diva :-). Love the pink :-)

  • @Missyplaymate3 Thanks Hun and have a great Holiday too :D

  • my granny used to bake cornbread n a cast iron frying pan that's heated first then n the oven.she also would put fried bacon n her greens :) she was real southern....i use the jiffy cornbread out the box. lol instead of the milk it calls for do u think i could use butter milk??

  • @sheardelightful Yes you can use buttermilk or sour cream :-).

  • @sheardelightful My recipe did use buttermilk so you should be fine.

  • MMmmm, gurl, you got me at greens! LOVE collards, or any dark leafy green. And as a tip - it is really good for women going through menopause. LOL. Laugh if ya want, but it saved me hearing my mum shout "IS IT HOT IN HERE"? lol. It's also very good for diabetics (without the sugar), and well, is good for everyone! Swiss Chards, broccoli, collards, etc. EAT THEM TODAY! And often! Thanks for sharing your recipe with the smoked turkey. HAVFTA try that one for sure! Yer so sweet! XOXOX

  • @GoranMak Yep! That's why I gave the tip about freezing them in portions because I eat them often. My mom told me of the health benefits of greens a long time ago.

  • @CookingWithCarolyn Yer Mom is wise! Well, I like to think of all Mom's as wise. LOL

I like to do mine with garlic and hot chili pepper flakes. YUM!

  • Thank you for your tips - Can you please give me detail on how to properly freeze the greens for later use. I love the juice of the greens. Can I freeze the juice with the greens?

  • @1btuber Yes you can freeze the juice with the greens. Just portion the greens into freezer containers or freezer bags, label and date them and there you go!

  • You have a beautiful kitchen

  • Looks good. I have to try this.

  • Great presentation...you didn't give the flour or cornmeal presentation.....

You look really nice in your beautiful kitchen....blessings this holiday season to you...and please post all the ingredients in the cornbread.....Thanks

  • that looks good!! what kind of cookware do you use?

  • @sohpnotiq I have 3 sets of cookware, nonstick, stainless steel and a few cast iron skillets. I use Cook's Essentials (nonstick) for the most part. I also have some cookware from Better Homes and Gardens (stainless steel). Thanks Hun :)
