I am in the UK. I have been experimenting too for some time and have been getting mixed results. I have 2 small cells on my Jaguar xj6 (carb engine). I can feel the difference when its working as the engine runs better and has more torque. However, even on light throttle opeings I dont seem to be able to get better mileage. Are you still using baking soda?
ohh yeah, you are risking serious engine component damage by NOT using a backfire arrestor. if in the event of a misfire, which any engine, carbeurated or injected will occasionally do, the hydrogen ignition will go directly to the cell and blow up....no, should i put it more precisely......"""""BAAAAAAAANGG"""""""!! if youre using a glass jar?? even more the reason you should use the arrestor. imagine a glass grenade going off in your engine compartment?? not good!!
plus, when the vehicle is moving, the cell will be air cooled and wont burst as the voltage increases with acceleration. but seriously, you MUST do the MAF sensor setup first. then youll get a shitload more mpg guaranteed. just find the positive wire, you may need a voltage meter you can pick up at any hardware store or radio shack before going in not knowing which one is which, cause you can easily blow out the sensor if you dont.
I would think if you want to control the fuel mix you would manipulate the o2 sensor output in the exhaust pipe. Thats the input the computer uses to adjust the fuel air mixture. I have manipulated mine. The map sensor only senses manifold/atmospheric pressures.
eeeek......umm, ok, i sent you a personal message but when i thought about it, the maf sensor is really the main sensor that tells the motor how much fuel / iar mix to make. it wasnt the map sensor that you thought i was talking about. youre right, the map sensor wouldnt be a target sensor to work with. if you can, fing the return signal wire for the maf sensor and use another signal adjuster for that one to see what happens. the maf sensor is gonna be my first attack, then the lower o2 sensor
when i get mine all set up, ill post a quick vid as to how i set mine up.
it would probably be "hho 94 ford explorer"
yes i have the explorer too and their engines are very reliable. i think theyre more forgiving as far as experimenting goes than any other makes and models.
ford has been using this engine for a long time ;) mine will be the dry cell setup cause as you know, theres very little space in the engine compartment.
well, if this isnt an updated video, then, maybe theres time for you to see this.
youll need to tap into the positive wire on the MAF sensor. i would probably try and use a radio volume adjuster for the purpose. its just a common setup for us hho experimentors. when its all set up, the adjuster will allow you to run the gasoline input lean or rich. you want to try and lean the gas input so you get the desired gas mileage the hho generator is meant for.
the best electrolite is sodium hydroxide, also called lye or potassium hydroxide. These are catalysts and will not eat away your metals like acids will.
Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't intend to sound like rude. This arrangement produces enough volume to enhance the fuel burn without needing to retime the ignition.
well a mason jar can take heat but the idea of using a fragile glass container worries me ( think small explosion in glass container). Also I'd hate to emulate those water for gas guys. The very idea of selling a plan for as much as 96 dollars to build a mason jar with a few feet of wire in it seems like a fleecing to me.Thge world has too much greed and glutony in it.Besides I have already solved the heat issues. My new stainless steel container works very well.
This is usually the result experienced by those that install the HH2 units, see their mileage decrease, or stay the same, and experience higher engine operating temperatures. And, further to complication is from what I understand the interjection of the readings from the MAF (Maximum Air flow) sensor, also playing a part in determining roch / lean conditions. Thanks for any input (end)
I'm certain the decrease to 24 mpg is mostly due to added wind resistance at those speeds. My car is the shape of a brick ,But hey it's a lot better than the best ever of 17mpg. I'm ok to drive at 55 instead of 75.
The voltages sent from the O2 sensor is supposedly in a range from 0V to .09V, and based on that voltage the computer determines a rich or lean mixture; this reading is adjusted about every second when engine is running. I'm wondering if the computer is overriding the hydrogen input, and basically burning more gas, along with the hydrogen? (cont'd)
Nice presentation. Towards the end when you talked about the decrease in mileage; have you determined whether you will extend your experimentation to the EFI? Based on what I have read your engine, as well as mine utilizes an OBD I computer. I'm unclear if the O2 configuration in the OBD I, is operated the same in the newer post 1995-6 systems. (cont'd.)
Do you have problems with the water steaming in your generator? I drove my car today a total of about 80 miles, and after returning home, I saw steam(or smoke) coming from the top of my generator. I'm only using 2 stainless switch plates as electrodes, and it cant be pulling more than 10amps. I do notice that the bolts I use to act as terminals on the generator heat up quite a bit, and have even melted the ABS plastic cap that they are mounted in. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video!
We made one with 5 plates @ 2.5 x10 inches. and it stalled the alternator. We used well water at 45grains hard.Back to the drawing board. What kind of plates do you have?
Most water has about 15 grains hard.Lots of calcium or rocks in the water. My son told me to use distiled water if the amps is too high. Or reduce the size of the plates.I think there is a balancing act in here. We'll try again in a couple weeks. When we get time.
brilliant work! keep it up.. we need people like you doing things like this to make the oil company's get there act together. the price of fuel here in the UK its an absolute joke. i look forward to seeing more of your work.
I'm sorry but I have no DC amp meter. I use a 40 amp breaker in the event of a direct short. It has never tripped. As far as volume I've never measured that either. I can tell there is a tremendous variance in out put with temperature and water quality.I do know that this device is supplying 27.35% of the total fuel used in my explorer's 4 liter engine.
Excellent work. Do you think that when you press on the gas, the vaccum on the engine sucks the hydrogen from the hydrogen generator maybe to exsevily? I was just thinking the vaccum ratio compared from the engine to the generator. BUT, I see your working on a much larger hydrogen generator, so the ratio would probably equal out with a larger device.(More Hydrogen)But I think I just answered my own question... more mpg.
Some people believe the volume of gas increases at lower pressures such as when you step on the gas. I'm not sure yet but I think it's tied much closer to elecrical energy in.
Excellent presentation, great build job! Please do more of these when you can. I own a 2006 Ford Escape, would this work on that vehicle? Seems most of these vids are with Carb vehicles. thanks !!
you will need to defeat the oxygen sensor in the exhaust system.I just unpluged mine. You might have more than one on your vehical. This sensor sees the gas as oxygen so the computer richens the mixture.
I have two sensors in my Corolla. One before one after.Just built second better cell and going to look for EFIE .But you saying that you just upluged yours sensors. Can we do it?Do you have more info on that? Thanks. Nice cell you have.
My 94 Explorer, stick shift 4X4 used more gasoline when I tried disconnecting the exhaust O2 sensor. I am up to 22 MPH with the O2 sensor on. That is not too much of an improvement for mine. You might like to know that I am going directly into a vacuum port, directly on the back rear of the throttle body. There were vacant ports for the HHO tube. Fit perfect like it was there for this very purpose.
I don't think it will work very well there as the hho gas will not be as evenly dispersed between the cylinders. The turbulence at the throttle plates will mix the incoming air and hyroge/oxygen quite well. How much surface area do you have exposed to the water?
My surface area exposed to water is the inside of a 10-inch long and 1 ¾ inch diameter stainless steel tube. Inside the length of the pipe is a 10 inch stainless steel threaded rod (10" X 1/4 X 20 TPI) with stainless steel nuts, lock washers, and several 1 ¼ inch spaced washers. Everything is always underwater because the threaded rod slides in from the bottom of my pipe. Thanks for replying.
great video i have recently put together my own hho fuel cell and i am in the process of installing it in 93 jeep. i was wondering how you delt with the o2 sensor. i have heard of people adding voltage,or o2 extenders, and i was curios of the effects of just disconnecting the o2. would appreciate any info
my operating temperatures run from 118f to 188f . I think a stainless tank is the obvious answear. The brown mineral content leachiing from the plates tends to buid up and acts as an electrolyte in that it increases gas output but also increases heat. The water must be changed regularly to keep the heat down. I am working on a larger system with a much larger resevoir and cooling capabilities.
Hi Mark.. I have a 94 Expl and am building a "smackbooster" HHO unit for it. Have you installed any parts to get past the Map/oxygen sensors stuff for the fuel injection on your expl? IF so what did you use and where did you get them..they say it should help quite a bit. Enjoyed your videos.
part 2..... I will be keeping a close eye on your progress and will be keeping in touch with you as we kinda go through this project together. I am building another cell that will be at least twice as large.
Hi Mark! Just pulled my generator out for rebuild, replacement, re-consideration. I am running a very thick, heavy gage whole house water filter housing molded out of GP crystal clear polystyrene (the one that can be seen in my 5 videos) and it has been all but completely destroyed by the operating temperature and use of distilled apple cider vinegar as an electrolyte. I will be moving my hose from the generator feeding at the air intake duct to near the intake manifold inlet.....
