Most people also don't know the dark history of this song. It was originally sung to a dying slave's kid in the 1800's because it's mother was trying to keep it from crying when it's mother left it in a feild so it wouldn't have to live as a slave. AKA the mother would rather have her kid die than grow up to be a slave. Very sad. This version sounds happy and cheery the exact opposite of what it should be. The mother was crying when she was singing it to her kid! But it's still a very nice song.
