I have to agree that in terms of the ethics of a contest the rules should have been enforced. I am not a rigid rule follower, but I am an advocate of fairness. A one minute video should be compared to a one minute video. I'm sure that submitting the already produced video was convenient for Jessi, but others made the effort to meet the requirements. If MT decided that submitting a longer video was legitimate, the stated rules should have been updated, so everyone could have made other choices.
A little bummed. There is no doubt that Jessi's production was one of the slickest; however, it was also more or less professional and far exceeded the posted time limit. Perhaps it would have been more fair (I hate that word) to announce finalists and meet us in person. I would have gladly payed my own way out there for the opportunity. I assume that Motor Trend is going to make its decision on the videos, but I'll play. In the videos I watched, everyone was reasonably articulate and knowledgeable, though not equally so. Jessi Lang seems to be perfectly competent, but not the best. Choosing her would be for an image change, and if she is a 'scholar' don't expect her to stay at the job. I started watching roadfly because of Jessi and I'm sad to see that she is no longer making videos with them. I think it's very unprofessional for someone to come out and publicly bash Jessi for personal reasons and casts roadfly in a negative light. I will still watch Roadfly but your image has taken a bit of a hit in my opinion.

I'm a media studies scholar and I can tell you that if you pass on Jessi, you will be making a big mistake. She's passionate about the subject. She knows the medium and conventions of the automotive review. She's an amazing teacher which translates to her performance on screen. And, she's curious--she likes to learn new things. Seriously, you don't find on-screen talent like her everyday.

I've known Jessi for years; she doesn't even like cars...she criticized anyone who expressed appreciation for a sexy car... ironic she professes she is a car fanatic. Also, her comment in this video regarding the sunroof only opening "accordion" style because it's a couple is totally false. There ARE coupes that have full-range sunroofs. Not to mention, it has probably something to do with the design of the rear portion of the car NOT because it's a coupe.

I think Jeff Glucker is the right a candidate. He's knowledgable about all makes and models and has plenty of experience reviewing cars as a writer for Autoblog and his own site Hooniverse. He also isn't socially retarded, so he's great for interviews. Glucker 2012.

I've known Jessi for years; she doesn't even like cars...she criticized anyone who expressed appreciation for a sexy car... ironic she professes she is a car fanatic. Also, her comment in this video regarding the sunroof only opening "accordion" style because it's a couple is totally false. There ARE coupes that have full-range sunroofs. Not to mention, it has probably something to do with the design of the rear portion of the car NOT because it's a coupe.

I think Jeff Glucker is the right a candidate. He's knowledgable about all makes and models and has plenty of experience reviewing cars as a writer for Autoblog and his own site Hooniverse. He also isn't socially retarded, so he's great for interviews. Glucker 2012.

Simple people will reduce her to, and be drawn to her simply for her body, as they do with women - but evolved people will be drawn to her for all of her qualities.
