  • We had the best freakin music.

  • This is without a doubt the best version of this song, in my humble opinion. Rare Earth were outstanding in all that they did.

  • These guys whre GREAT, do great interpretations of stuff!!! Great VOICE!!!

  • These guys whre GREAT, do great interpertations of stuff!!! Great VOICE!!!

  • Detroit bands always put soul in it

  • Only Detroit bands can lay it down like that

  • yup...great job...

  • Dont forget...David Lee Roth did a more rocked up version too. But this one for me is the difinitive one. Lots of subtle nuances that make it very soulful. Love the bluesy feel to this one...Also on here look for the one with Eric Buron & War, featuring Jimi Hendrix.

  • Check out Eric Burdon and WAR's version on Eric Burdon Declares WAR

  • Edgar Winter's White Trash is good also

  • best version of this song by far

  • great version of this song!

  • status quo, edgar winter, jefferson airplane, perhaps its easier to list the people who didnt play this song

  • nashville teens, edgar winter, and the status quo version isnt bad. but this rare earth version i hadnt heard before slows it down and has good vocals. j.d. loudermilk wrote it and there 2 nashville teen versions, one raunchier than the other

  • Note to Mr Engnmrph:

Written by John Loudermilk, this was the VERY FIRST version I heard (On the Tamla Motown imprint from England) and is my personal ALL-TIME UBER-MEGA-ULTRA RAVE-FAVE of them all.

Rare Earth were one of the ALL-TIME GREATEST acts at Motown.

    Thanx fer it, m8.

  • Best version of Tobacco Road ever! Rare Earth is great!

  • who is big john--that's the one an only pete rivera singing and playing drums

  • I can't find this album anywhere, and it's one of the most awesome from the 60s. Not a bad song on it.

  • how the hell did rare earth get snubbed from woodstock?

  • This is my favorite version of this song!

  • @Smittee this is awesome and is there one more awesome version out there check out edgar winters white trash on an album called roadwork

  • @joethepainter90 Oh yeah. I know which one you're talking about. I've got that version. Love it!

  • somebody please tell me who else did this song. and does it even compare to this!

  • @MrVerncoleman Lou Rawls, Peter Rivera, Orange Peel, Eric Burdon, but not comparable at all.

  • @laurensj89 Nashville Teens I think are the originals...and the best version.

  • @knuckaheads Well for the first, they were the first performers of the song, some guy called Loudermilk wrote and recorded the song first. Second the best version depends on taste, I think this is the best version.

  • @laurensj89 This is definitely the best version of this song. More feeling.

  • @laurensj89 Spooky Tooth also did a great version.

  • @TheTrickzta A rocking version of Tobacco Road by Paul Revere & The Raiders, featuring Mark Lindsay @ /watch?v=AD0-owAB-7g

  • @laurensj89 My prference is Nashville Teens, but I Love The SONG! Great Music!

  • @MrVerncoleman, Hi friend. This version does kick ass, but the version of Mr. Loudermilk's original that does it for me is Eric Burdon with WAR live. Peace.

  • @lowriderbandfan love me some war, but i have to hear there version.

  • @MrVerncoleman The Animals.

  • @MrVerncoleman Edgar Wynter and White Trash compares to this one.

  • @MrVerncoleman edgar winter and white trash band did a killer live version

  • @MrVerncoleman A rocking version of Tobacco Road by Paul Revere & The Raiders, featuring Mark Lindsay @ /watch?v=AD0-owAB-7g

  • @MrVerncoleman David Lee Roth

  • @MrVerncoleman yes spooky tooth did a version of tobacco road and yes, it is very good as well :)

  • @MrVerncoleman As mentioned by others, also Edgar Winter.

  • @MrVerncoleman As mentioned above/below, also Edgar Winter Group. Theirs is good too.

  • @MrVerncoleman It is a great interpitation of the song, but in my opinion Edgar Winter's version off his Road Work album is the definative version..............
