The problem with everyone's attitude towards this game is that every 3D CV game that came before it sucked balls. They finally gave CV the budget it deserved for all these years and they made this killer game. I wish all the SOTN baby's would see that already. The new direction is the only way to go because the old style though amazing, is now stale.

Purists are going to hate this game, but they have to realize that the game itself, as it stands alone, is very playable, has great music, and an awesome story! Besides, if they brought out a side-scroller, the modern market would be like "That's 80's!" Personally, this is an excellent game, and I hope they make a sequel!

Mostly, yes. There's classic Castlevania where you run down a linear platforming path through levels with sub-items, metroidvania (gba games, ds games, sotn), the previous 3d incarnations, then there's this. In this game they changed the soundtrack to some boring movie music that sounds all the same and completely took out collection aspects, sub-items, rpg aspects... it was also directed/produced by a different person in Konami who had never touched a Castlevania game before.

2. the previous 3D incarnations are terrible, it's almost the kind of button mashing you see from Kingdom Hearts, not to mention horrible voice acting and no plot.

3. There is a collection aspect to the game: upgrades.

4. There are sub items, and they aren't overpowered like the cross.

Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.

@caganbaser the "God of War"-series could be the 'godfather' of this Castlevania... the gamemechanics are similar (but less weapons to switch around... actually no real weapon beside the cross/whip)...

it's a nice game (story-wise it's not a real Castlevania but it's a fun game nonetheless if you like the GoW-gameplay)

The game consists of 30 plus hours if you try to finish it really fast. I played with it 40 hours or so, So I don't think a 4 minute video will spoil it for you :) Actually, you need to play with it to fully understand why so many people loved it.

Really liked the game but it didn't have that expected "castlevania" feel. It instead felt like a long God Of War add on with Belmont as an unlocked character. Just made me want to get my ps2 back and those last 2 castlevanias on that system.

ive played this game and loved the erosive chains attack cuz i can recover huge amount of health but now i cant heal while using them. In the beginning i could recover health but now it just does weak damage. I s anyone having this problem and fixed it.

Apparently the puzzles in this game are like god of war E.G kratos usually uses the blades of chaos(Athena) to overcome obstacles as in castlevania:L.O.S uses the dardy cross belmont has to overcome stuff.Its pretty cool

@iluvurmumah When you click the left or right stick, those are the L3 or R3 buttons. To use the Cyclone Boots, it's double-tap to the direction on the Left Stick...as in left left, up up, down down, or right right to the direction you want to run to.
