Logically, wouldn't it be better to pay for the additional wear on time, mechanics, and gas budget than to have to pay for a ticket for failure to obey a (clearly posted) traffic sign?
So what? You don't have to come to a full stop to see left and right if someone's coming (and if they're going right, they don't need to stop to check if a car is coming from the left). Coming to a full stop when you're sure there are NO cars obstructing you from passing is a complete waste of gas, brakes and clutch.
Wow so you have nothing better to do than to sit and watch people perform and innocuous violation? Not one of these drivers did anything to endanger anyone else - coming to a complete stop is just unnecessary
Looks like an example of a stop sign that should be a give way to me. What a waste of gas, brake pads, clutches, and time - if every one of those cars came to a dead stop...
@badbadbadmonkey If it were a yield sign, they would still have to slow way down and possibly stop if traffic was approaching, so there's barely any difference in wear and tear. In any case, as long as it's a stop sign, you have a responsibility to stop.

and 96% of stop signs should be yield signs anyway.
