In case you don't want to see the entire video, Obama's budget speech was another false 'campaign promise', meant to energize his progressive base, and keep them in the dark of what he's really planning to do - agreeing with the opposition party.
if the president wants to talk about compassion, why doesn't he start first by talking about repealing affirmative action laws that practice reverse discrimination towards qualified white people who are denied employment because of government mandated racial and gender quotas?
His off mic moment should have been made publicly. I dont get this dude. If you dont fucking like what their doing then fucking say it. Its not like either of their two plans really do anything major in getting us back on track.
Seriously man, if Obama starts acting like a progressive again, and gets re-elected, then he goes back to his republican bowing ways... Needless to say, people are going to be plenty pissed. Almost feels like he is opening trying to con you, and you cannot do anything about it.

WARNING. There are some right wingers who post on channels like this pretending to be progressives who are disappointed in President Obama. Be on the look out for those trolls. For the real progressives who want to see the President move on issues you are concerned about, you need to get active and involved with progressive organizations or start your own. Push the President in the direction he needs to go. Peacefully rise up and be heard.
President Obama has to see large, massive numbers of progressives collectively organized for the purpose of pushing him in the direction he needs to go. There are several progressive organizations and talk shows, but the only way their voices will be heard is when they come together as one collective mass movement that can not be ignored.
Progressives have to form a collective mass movement to make President Obama and the Democrats hold to what they say they are going to do. Progressives can't totally blame the President, if all they do is sit on the sidelines and whine. If you want change you have to get active in large numbers that can't be ignored. If the Tea Party can affect Republican politics, where in the hell are the progressives in large numbers when it comes to affecting Democrat politics?
@ShadowCrashed81 I've tried to post the URL for the speech that I received from their enewsletter, but YouTube responded with an error. The Whitehouse.gov website has many links, one is "Winning the Future." Good luck.
By the way, next time a Democratic legislator is on, I'd be interested to see how they would respond to that characterization. Something like, "doesn't Obama tend to do the exact opposite of every policy position he states?" I think it's interesting, because on one hand, they're Democrats so they'd prefer not to attack the president, on the other hand, it's obviously true.
OMG it's candidate Obama again! I haven't seen that guy since 2008. Not buying it, though, Obama has zero credibility at this point.
Cenk: "I listen to that speech, and I think that that's a bold progressive vision...[etc]"
Dude, I'm sorry, but I don't understand how you haven't caught on yet. Obama is the master of delivering a rousing policy speech, and then delivering the exact opposite policy. The only reason for this speech is that he's campaigning again.
I don't buy it, simply because he's campaigning for re-election. We were all told he was going to start TALKING like a liberal. However, like everyone else, I'd love to be proven wrong.
3:32 the woman to the right of Obama is REALLY creepily happy about something...
Anyway, on topic- it's good to hear Obama say flat out that the deficit can be solved if we just increase revenue. Specifically by taxing the wealthy, whose tax rates are at a low we haven't seen in almost a century.
So what, Romney digs into his faggot (South Park definition) playbook immediately. You're a conservative, dummy. The other side is SUPPOSED to be liberal. Cenk's right, if that's all he's got, he should appeal to other conservatives, and no one outside of that base should be supporting him at all. No intelligent, truly independent voter should be swayed by calling him "liberal". Liberal is a GOOD thing. We were founded as the most liberal nation on Earth. Seriously, look it up.

Cenk, for every $1 extra raised in tax revenue, there must be $3 cuts from now on. (That might not even be TAX RISES, that might be ANY extra tax REVENUE like closing loopholes, growing profits, etc. It's unclear what Obama actually meant). Let me see, if the RICH pay an extra $1 (possibly for WHATEVER reason), the budget MUST give up $3? And you're impressed by this?

it's the first time Obama went hard after Republicans and made a liberal case in the same speech, he painted that almost apocalyptic picture of the Republican future - that was brilliant; I liked it a lot
Obama needs to stop talking and start DOING! He always says the right things but has yet to do anything resembling what he's said the last 2 years as president and nothing close to all the things he said as a candidate. He's either a chess master or completely full of shit. Sure is seeming like the latter
@doctender77 U cant really blame him. Because of Bush,Fox,Republican brainwashing, Limbaugh, etc for first time ever the population of the usa is dumber than shit and believes Republicans who care only about power/money for themselves, being Republican first & American 2nd....& therefore are willing to ruin the country by stopping every positive plan/action as long as they get power and are elected by the dumb. Bush the son essentilly ruined the USA, and so did every dumbass voted for him 2x.
@spaniardmale77 So how did Americans become so dumb in 2 years, when they elected Obama i guess you think they are smart but 2 years later they see the idiot Obama for what he is, and you call them dumb.
Stop blaming everyone else accept it Obama is the loser in charge and a one termer..
@TheKaos007 They elected him bc Bush screwed things up so much they wanted him to change things. Thanks again to republican brainwashing the sheep even blame the economy that Bush ruined on him, U do know that republicans have basically said no to everything, stopped everything, ruined the country, just so they can blame him, lol. And americans were already dumb thanks to fox, bush, republican propaganda. Thats why they will re-elect another republican president that will just finally destroy usa.
@spaniardmale77 Obama has added a WHOPPING TRILLION to the U.S. debt. Way (4x) more than Bush ever did in 8 years.
You should look in the mirror to see who has been brainwashed you sound like a broken record.
Grow up accept responsibility for actions stop blaming them on everyone else,it's not Bush's fault,Fox only has 11 million viewers and people who disagree with your politics are not dumb..
Stop being a baby you lost we won and we are saving the country before Obama makes us bankrupt.
@TheKaos007 WHAT R U SAYING??? Ur FACTS are totally off. Yo sound like every other right winger.
Bush 2.0 added nearly 4 TRILLION in debt and crashed the economy. Ya Obama added massively to the debt nominally but its not his fault he inherited the 2nd worst economy ever. Stimulus spending was needed in order to save this country.
and to say it was NOT bush's fault....LMFAOOO!!! Obviosuly u r a bling right winger....Dont even bother responding, im not ganna respond back
@TheKaos007 No offence, but U are dumb. usa economy was doing good under clinton. Bush the son ruined it with his WAR of LIES, taxbreaks for the rich, not caring about m wallstreet rapes. You do know that Bush basically bankrupt the country? Any money Obama has to spend is to try and rescue a ship of shit that Bush sunked. Those trillions are a result of 8 years of Bush policies. Not 2,3 years of Obama doing anything to save a sinking ship and being stopped at every move by Republicans.
@TheKaos007 And if u voted bush yourself once, u are ignorant, and if u voted Bush second time, u are part of the dumb and should look at yourself in the mirror, bc U are responsible for ruining a once great country. Anybody voted bush 2x should never be allowed to vote again on the basis of being dumber than chimps.
@TheKaos007 I agree with u when the name calling is not merited. In this case for the last 10years REPUBLICANS are pure pieces of shit and anybody that supported them/George Bush jr, are either ignorant or stupid. Bc it was them supporting Republicans that helped ruined a once great, powerful, respected, & optimistic country. Forget the moon, u cant even go to space no more and are still brainwash by the Republicans into thinking your own president is not an american citizen u dumb chimps.
What the fuck is wrong with Cenk? Is he saying that he actually believed what Obama said? So if they mistreat you and then give you an ice cream cone you are going back to be abused? Or is this just the msnbc in you?
never pay attention to what people say, pay attention to what they DO. That is the only way , what so ever, to know who you are dealing with and what to expect.
Wow a speech. Obama probably thinks the Nazis' only problem was not giving a speech after WW2 about how they tried to save the Jews. Who does this loser clown think he's fooling?
I swear by all that is righteous and moral, if Obama does not stick to what he says in his speech and if he gives into the republicans, even the slightest bit, he will not have my vote in 2012. Paul Ryan's budget plan, if passed, would literally be the most devastating blow to the middle and lower classes in U.S. history. It must be stopped at any and all costs. If it is not, there will literally be no middle class in a decade
@ImpactChocobo I doubt he will. He might for a bit just for the votes but he'll probably go back to caving in all the time once the elections are over. Lets face it, Obama's a limp noodle -.-
i was thoroughly unimpressed with this speech. i'll get excited when i actually some action. I was an obama supporter, i helped get him elected, and i will be the first one to support him once he actually stands up for us progressives. The bottom line is that whatever Obama does, its too little too late
Yes, of course the final plan that he signs will be something between his Deficit Commission plan and the Ryan plan. Except certainly there will be _no_ tax on the rich increases, _no_ Defense spending reductions, and massive gutting of Social Security, Medicare, and fundamental programs for the middle-class and poor. So it likely won't even be between those two right-wing extremes, but farther to the right of Ryan. And after it's passed Obama will call it a "historic bipartisan compromise."
@genrlcvr Obama is a breath away from losing big. He better start standing up for his 'retarded liberal" base or he has zero chance of getting votes from that base.
@Textynn There's that and just the fact that these kinds of draconian cutting policies, and the refusal to do massive _good_ policies like public works programs, at this time is very likely to flush the country down the drain. Like to Great Depression/ Third World status. I think that alone, apart from losing the base, will cause him to lose at least 75% of everyone as a whole. And it's seeming more likely that's where the country is headed, and this may be a _deliberate_ desire of the rich.
@genrlcvr Well obviously the rich don't want anything to work out for standing up to them and Obama is good for that, as well as, leaving the Pres election open for a grab from any of their loser team. but i think they actually want him to win or don't care if he does. i think the coming election will be about brain washing and narrowing the conversation into black and white paradigms. Whoever wins from the two party charade is okay with the elite.
@Textynn Yes, I would agree with that general framing of how this corrupt system works. When I say the rich may be deliberately bringing on a depression, I'm saying if that's the case it's not to destroy Obama or anything like that, but as a means to drive down workers' wages drastically, and take total ownership of the little leftover they don't own--to further the enslavement and desperation of the non-rich.
@genrlcvr Pretty obvious ain't it. people better put a stop to it. Revolution talk has cooled but nothing has changed . If Obama caves on SS or Medicare , it will come. We'll see
I think, though, that this time he's running for a re-election campaign that will see him become President for a second term. As a second term hopeful, he won't actually have to be tethered to the specter of "being re-elected". And what I mean is, he can basically go into fuck you mode for the next four years.
@TheOkham Obama has the option to veto any legislation that comes across his desk. Moreover, his speeches have led to real policy; getting banks out of the student loan business, saving billions, applying restrictions to the way Wall St does business, especially with derivatives, protecting Americans from being raped by credit card companies usurious rates, allowing Americans with pre-existing conditions to get access to health care, drawing down 100,000 trioops from Iraq, ...for openers.
Anyone who says that a tax cut must be paid for is either a blithering idiot or a college student

genrlcvr 10 months ago
@genrlcvr Well obviously the rich don't want anything to work out for standing up to them and Obama is good for that, as well as, leaving the Pres election open for a grab from any of their loser team. but i think they actually want him to win or don't care if he does. i think the coming election will be about brain washing and narrowing the conversation into black and white paradigms. Whoever wins from the two party charade is okay with the elite.
Textynn 10 months ago
@Textynn Yes, I would agree with that general framing of how this corrupt system works. When I say the rich may be deliberately bringing on a depression, I'm saying if that's the case it's not to destroy Obama or anything like that, but as a means to drive down workers' wages drastically, and take total ownership of the little leftover they don't own--to further the enslavement and desperation of the non-rich.
genrlcvr 10 months ago
@genrlcvr Pretty obvious ain't it. people better put a stop to it. Revolution talk has cooled but nothing has changed . If Obama caves on SS or Medicare , it will come. We'll see

Delivering on them, thats another story.

@TheOkham
That's an improvement over Bush--the speeches, I mean. The rest...well...

@TheOkham
I think, though, that this time he's running for a re-election campaign that will see him become President for a second term. As a second term hopeful, he won't actually have to be tethered to the specter of "being re-elected". And what I mean is, he can basically go into fuck you mode for the next four years.
dmiller185 10 months ago
@TheOkham Obama has the option to veto any legislation that comes across his desk. Moreover, his speeches have led to real policy; getting banks out of the student loan business, saving billions, applying restrictions to the way Wall St does business, especially with derivatives, protecting Americans from being raped by credit card companies usurious rates, allowing Americans with pre-existing conditions to get access to health care, drawing down 100,000 trioops from Iraq, ...for openers.
