@13borac I cant belive that when. most of the banded birds i kill are all age of 1-7 years old. the oldest i have gotten was on a 15 year old blue wing teal.
@netmatrix75 it's both good and bad, but if you are gonna feed ducks (or other birds) they please throw the food on the ground :) not in the water, that is more environmentally friendly.
There is one bird with unusual coloration, it looks like a hybrid between a Mallard Drake and a Pintail. I've seen variations in color before, even partial albinism but never like that Bird. You see many color variations in domestic birds, but that guy is definitely wild! Nice video!
Mallards are among the hardiest birds on the planet. Pilots have spotted mallards feeding in open water cracks, in Polar sea ice in mid January, off the coast of Greenland. If they can find open water and food they will remain in northern latitudes. I live in Edmonton Alberta, every year approximately 5000 mallards overwinter in my city. They often have the company of a few hundred Common Goldeneye ,occasionally a few Pintails and even Coots. The North Saskatchewan River remains open all winter!
way to fuck up their digestive system...

One time, on a goose hunt, I witnessed 500 canadas land on an iced over pond, funniest thing in the world!

That is so Cool and Fun to watch them land and go after the bread.
At the beginning you can hear a hen mallard call out and here they came.
And then at 2:17 they all take off. Did they see something or someone other than you feeding them?
Love to have a couple of mallard hens and drakes for pets. The females have their loud quack and the males have soft reedy notes.
