  • Sootch, noticed I have the same SOG tool and M16 knife in my small survival kit I keep in my Jeep. I wanted to mention, that while the Maxpedition stuff looks great - it seems pricey taking into account the stuff is made in Taiwan. I prefer to stick with made the USA gear of this type.

  • how much does it weigh in all?

  • What! No superglue?!

  • What color is yours ?

  • I have (2) of these one for a S.E.R.E kit , one for a BLOWOUT kit !

  • thats a great kit but one thing that i would add to it is a flint stick

  • Oh, one more tip. Swap your green paracord with the bright neon variety. Easier to see, especially in dark. If you need to leave breadcrumbs for whatever reason (for yourself or others), cut off a couple inches at a time and tie them to branches. You could even take multiple colors and if you had some sort of coding system, you could communicate with others in your party. Red/red/blue means emergency, need medical help. Or whatever.

  • Excellent...!

  • great video! make sure not to keep this compasses too close

  • @michaelshore1992 Interesting. I never thought of that.

  • very nice i could imagina a thousand uses for it!!!

  • Don't take this offensively, but you are the combination of Bear Grylls (survivalist) and my Mom ( organization wiz )

  • Really nice! Cool vid. Thx

  • add some condoms they're useful for collecting water, just remember to buy the ones without lube (nasty taste). also add petroleum jelly and cotton wool balls, covering the balls in jelly provide good fire starters, and the jelly it good for putting over wounds to stop infection, a tube of glue (field medics use it to close wounds) and some beef or chicken bullion cubes (if you've got water and fire you've got food), dental floss and fish hooks and sinkers.

  • great idea to have the button compass as a backup reference, i see alot of redundance with 9 blades in a pack but in this case it just makes sense

  • Really nice setup. Great pack.

  • 2 huge flaws.. when you poored water on it to demonstrate the water resistance, some water came on the huge side zipper and it got instantly soaked, meaning in heavy rain that bags content will get soaked in minutes, second flaw is based on the first one, your only means of making fire is a small box of matches and a lighter? well when they get wet they are both out of business so do pack a proper firesteel instead of those matches, do keep the lighter for dry conditions as a main firestarter

  • Errrr... It's a handbag

  • @number94 no its a man-bag!

  • GOTTA HAVE ONE!!

  • love list from your get this of thing and information you have write at spiritwild09@hotmail.com

  • Makes a handy little shooters bag. Holds extra magazines, rite as rain pad/pen and targets, eye protection, ear protection, bore snake, cleaning brushes, replacement parts. I think I even found a spot for the kitchen sink :)

  • you should do a challenge where you you have people survive 2 days and 2 nights with just what they have in their pack

  • My Keyring isn't actually a ring its the Nite Ize KeyRack which is a quick detach type deal.

On the keyrack I carry the bare minimum number of 4 keys as well as a LaCie iamaKey flash drive which looks and feels like a housekey. In addition on the keyrack I carry an Aurora fire steel because it comes in a small 440c tube that protects it from breakage and it has a integral striker.

Leatherman surge in black oxide = best all purpose multitool on the market = EDC 4 me most days.

  • @ViolentKisses87 I'f i'm wearing clothes that can't support a leatherman ((which with female clothing can occur)) then I just go with a penknife someplace. The Preon 2 Ti, maxped wallet with a patch of Gir from Invader Zim sewn to it lol, a space pen, rape whistle, and a cell of course.

I don't really carry a purse, but that may change once I get my conceal carry.

  • Screw survival tins this should be the lightest survival kit to be taken seriously.

  • @ViolentKisses87 So where will yours be when you are out and about everyday? Come on. Bigger and bigger survival kits tend to have more and more capabilities but less and less likelyhood that you'll have it when you need it.

  • @AgentMcgeek Actually 5 days of the week I carry a Maxpedtion Monsoon gearslinger which has the basic's in it, in addition to my schoolbooks.

Apart from that I am redundant five days a week because I carry gear EDC things in my pockets. It really doesn't take that much but you got to plan carefully. I strongly believe you could fit more useful stuff on a key ring than in a silly survival tin.

  • I would add a signal mirror to the loadout, as well as some salt tabs (or a few pouches of gatorade powder (individual servings). Nice looking bag; I would grab two, one for a loadout similar to yours, and one for nothing but medical (wrap a strip of red tape around the carry handle for an easy way to differentiate the two bags).

It would also make a great camp or hunting bag as well.

  • Another thing you might think about is a short length (6"-12") of re-rolled black electrical tape for binding a cut on your finger/hand. That's pretty much the only place I ever cut myself and I've found it's pretty durable, and holds really well, over a band-aid. Plus electrical tape is useful in general, as a bonus

  • Long live the republic

  • hey are you able to buy this pouch in any army surplus stores or anything?

  • I really need some flares

  • scooch what kinda flares do you have in that pouch great vids

  • @pupdog2pa Yeah are just Cyalume glow sticks or chem lights. Some people call them flares as well because they can be used for signaling.

  • you need to add a S.O.L origin to that kit its awesome as is but this would help with the survival thing

  • i actually have this now thanks it was a great buy

  • redundancy is key to sucess, old 11b knowledge.

  • wish i had nerasporum hahaha

  • good video, haha but i have to tell that scootch sounds like a dirty word.

  • @mrsuperterd its not scootch its sootch dont take this offensively just thought id tell u

  • Nice watch

  • Have you ever had to bug out???

  • sold to me :)

  • what color is that od green?

  • If you are trying to save space for other stuff you can swap out the big Sog tool for a Sog Crosscut or Leatherman Squirt. Gerber also has mini tools. You should add a Photon keychain light, possibly to the outside. Makes it easier if you can grab it in the dark, and helps find other stuff in the bag or a larger flashlight.

Add a Rite In The Rain pen or Fisher Space pen. Useful for more than just writing. Also maybe Rite In Rain waterproof notepad. And a big reflective mirror. FireSteel.

  • Where did you get the two flares that you have?

  • Man I love these pouches!

  • @MrLeonidas0001 You ever heard of google or do you need everything spoon fed to you?

  • Great video thanks! Love the info.

  • the first aid kid ito simple that the equipment is not enough.

The is food but no drinking water, which is important for survival and for clearing injury cuts.

  • @applesweeter Are you new? Perhaps you should review some of Sootch00's other videos before making a comment. A survival kit is not a 'bug out bag' nor is it meant to sustain the same quality of life that one would expect in everyday living - it's meant to get you through basic emergencies. Check out his IFAK videos to see what he carries... This is more about the pouch and it's capabilities.

  • @juswatchinintosa

However, basic medicines and first-aid-equipment is essential for emergency situation.

  • great video.

  • lol I thought I was the only person to say, "Boo Boo kit"

  • Great kit and fantastic review!

  • I'm getting two of these to attach to my Vulture II. One as a utility pouch and one for a customized medical kit. Thanks for the great review. Excellent ideas for a mini survival kit by the way! My friends and I love your reviews. Keep'em comin!

  • Been watchin this video over and over, finally got my own pouch! Goin Hunting for the first time this fall, by then I will have this pouch all geared up with the essentials. Best review ever, Thanks Huge!

  • where can you buy it?

  • @thesurvivalexpert101 maxpedition(dot)com

  • Great video! I think this pouch would make a great "on the go" gunsmithing kit with tools and such.

  • wow. do you think that this or another similar pouch is good to be attached under a banana seat of a mountain bike? I have seen a trail biker do such that with their bike and it gave a better alternative from wearing bulky cargoes or backpacks.

  • It's funny I came across your video today. I was just looking at this kit the other day and thinking of getting it to use for what your using it for. Thanks for the great vid!

  • I can't tell if this first aid kit is khaki or od green.

  • Sootch, I use something very similar to carry spare pistol ammo, clips and cleaning kit at the moment. I'll probably get three or four FR-1s in the near future, because the cases I am using now are over 25 years old, and probably need to be replaced.

When I am overseas, I'll probably use an FR-1 as my Comm Bag, for my satellite phone, spare batteries, headset and palm top computer. And, there will still be room for a couple of Clif Bars, too!

  • i love this vid i just order one fr1 pack for me camping tirps i camp about 10 to 12 time every summer up here in canada and im the type of person that alway herats then self some how lol but i have had my firest aid level c tranning now for 7 years and i found having a pack like this would be so much better then the other small pack of the past that iv been takeing with me

  • i love this vid i just order one fr1 pack for me camping tirps i camp about 10 to 12 time enery summer up here ins canada

  • I'm into survival and I saw RatPack556 ( I think) video on pouch survival kits and was looking for a pouch similar and I finally found one.

  • cool man!

i have this bag too....truely amazing!

    greetz from germany:)

  • Signal Mirror

  • Sootch- can you tell me what kind of flares those are? Thanks brother!

  • very dependabe layout, but i sugest u get another knife, in by experiances, the m16 isnt reliable

  • Great gear, and another great vid.

  • Q: Do you get compensation in some way from Maxpedition (merchandise/$)? Do you pay regular prices like all of us would?

  • Lol. I thought your flares were tampons for a second, I was like "wut"

  • GREAT Review.. low that Gear.. where did you get the flares?

  • i like this more than nutnfancy, very down to earth, honest and simple

  • can u tell me what knife is that

  • once again top reveiw vid sootch, Merry Xmas to you and yours bro.

  • Great video review cool survival pouch.

  • Despite the oatmeal raisin bar i like this kit idea lol i'd substitute the bar for at least a cookies and cream protein bar lol also a GPS or COMPASS is totally useful, i think. i never been hiking but from what i see on TV its cuts ur risk of bein Grizzly bear dinner by 75%.. all depending on when and where you get lost =) AWESOME VID

  • @sootch00 I love Grey Egg!!

  • The fabric on Maxpedition products is really thought. But there is a design flaw. Uncovered zipper. In wet weather water will find it's way inside through zipper.

  • Much ado about a fanny pack

  • Good review keep'em coming :)

  • great review. i can see myself having one of these around prepped and ready to be added on to the outside of a pack, thank you

  • Nice its on the 'want' list! had my Kodiak k/f for 6 months now love it, lots of origination capability's. lots of separate sections. max's cust service top notch too. ordered a janus and when I got it the max label was upside down. they offered a 20 or 25% refund or replace it for free! you should do a neat-freak review (for all your tools at your shop) PS the AAA maratac its killer!! so small and light kicking butt on 1 aaa! carry it every where cutlover just froze his overnight lol

  • One more thing to add to my Christmas List, i definately have to have this...thanks Sootch...

  • This was the first item from Maxpedition I acquired. It really is tough to top as an all-around pouch. It is so versatile, and will last for decades, if mine is any indication. Mine started out as a B.O.B. as well, but moved to a level 1 1st aid kit after I got more aid gear. I had the liner for the zipper and the PALS webbing h20 treated, so it's now almost dunkable and stays dry. It is still the one item that goes with me everywhere every time. Thanks for re-showing this great pouch!

  • Excellent!

  • Wow 37 bucks is pretty high for just a bag that small.

  • I love this pouch it is versatile and well made!!

  • I love my FR-1! Have it stuffed full of first aid stuff. It and the EDC Organizer pouch will fill up the main pocket of a Jumbo Versipak though.

  • This kinda reminds me of the Nutnfancy USK

  • Again, Great Job!!

  • Great kit sootch. How about adding a small Esbit/hexamine stove? they are really small and effective when your stuck in a rut.

    Dave.

  • Really cool idea

  • Sootch,

I just bought one a week ago. I was going to use it for first aid but quickly realized it would make a great survival bag. It now hangs on the outside of my bigger bugout bag and contains the absolute essentials incase I have to ditch the bigger bag.

  • I found out that walmart.com now sells maxpedition but only online there prices are about the same or a little bit cheaper

  • this nice little pouch. Gonna order two of them. Do they come in div collors too?

  • hey sootch whats a good multi tool in your opinion ?

  • Hi Sootch, that is the ultimate man purse..lol. keep up the great vids.

    Happy holidays

  • i want to know about that filter straw...good review

  • Its a french design!

  • Cool little kit Sootch, do you think you can talk some more about those filter straws?

  • Thanks for the look. A friend of mine has one and uses it as a medical pack. Maxpedition create good items no doubt.

  • Nice pack Sootch thanks for the review.

  • Thanks for taking us through this handy pouch from Maxpedition. I'm just going to throw out a couple of items that I would have in there. These would probably be redundancy items for you, but maybe it will spark an idea for you or someone else.

water purification tabs, spare batteries, dedicated stream light nano for this pouch, light my fire fire steel, spare cash, bandana

Thanks for all your hard work & take care

  • I'm on my way to pick up my P32! No, no just kidding! I do have this pouch and I used it as my first aid kit. It gives me all the room I need to hold everything from finger splints, ace bandages, pressure dressings etc. I have one in my edc bag and in my hiking bag. My recommendation for anyone is to keep a small AAA flashlight in it as an emergency may happen at night and you might not have a large flashlight handy.

  • The Tasmanian Tiger gear is lighter and better designed but available only in Europe.

  • I did this, but with a voodoo tactical medical pack. Has all the elastic straps and is cheaper, but not the same quality of maxpedition, but it works.

  • You should put some super glue in that kit Sootch00, just a suggestion. thumbs up

  • Have you done a review on that M16 knife yet?

  • I want a kit like this badly. Seems like I allready know where my paycheck will go. Thanks to a great introduction. Great video.

  • any tolit paper?

  • the sootch00 luggage channel LOL

  • Love that bag ! I use mine as a 1st aid kit in my EDC bag ( monsoon ) did I mention I love these bags . But anyways I took notes from nutn's 1st aid kit vids an made my own. Holds enough gear for at least two at what nutn calls a level 2 kit. Keep the great vids coming . And Merry Christmas to you and yours sir.

  • Such a good survival pack! Im really into the whole survival thing myself. I have a kit around here somewhere.

  • nice very nice

  • lol, completely sold out now @ the Maxpedition site.

  • Neosporin is bad! Buy Polysporin instead.

  • Yes. This pouch reminded me of the F.I.G.H.T. pouch. Now I'm torn between the two for my next purchase :/

    Another great review!

  • I thought those flares he pulled out were tampons lol

    great pouch tho!

  • Sootch I am a new subscriber and really like your vids. I was wondering if you would have a look at my channel and tell me what you think of my bug-out generators, I'm trying to further this idea free of charge to keep the technology truly free.

Love this EDC by the way, you just gave me a new idea.

  • fr-1 is the best compact medical kit i have ever used great review

  • Great lighting! Please show Tex Grebner how easy this little detail is, thank you.

  • Don't forget your signaling mirror.

  • Small can of WD40...

  • i think sootch was very tired when he made this video. good night, sootch.

  • @humanentropy I had a cold but starting to feel alot better. I needed to do a video : ) Good Night.

  • $38 and every color is out of stock on website

  • Great setup sir! Thanks for sharing! Have a joyous and a blessed Christmas!

  • are those """flares""" flares or just light sticks

  • This pouch is like a Molle pouch I use on my web belt, one thing I like about this pouch is that you can open it flat (180) and mine will open only 90. The handle does not appeal to me, but that is just me. Good video and review as usual. Take Care :-))

  • You forgot condoms in your pouch. :P

  • Nice pouch. Good review.

  • Great video. i need to make me a small survival pouch.

  • I like the way it will sit up. The different compartments appeal to me. I like it.

I had not thought of .Zip Ties or permanent marker in my kit. Thanks for the idea.

  • That water repellancy is impressive, is all of their gear like this?

  • @glynn72 Yes, all of Maxpedition's gear is water resistant. Really comes in handy near rivers : ) Thanks~

  • @sootch00 Why matches and a lighter Sootch? Why not just replace it with a magnesium fire starter?

A magnesium fire starter would last much longer than both of them right?

  • @MikeW259 I have Swedish Fire steels but this is a EDC type pouch and matches plus a lighter are easier to use. Just my thoughts. Thanks~

  • @MikeW259 ,Ever tried to spark up cee-gar with a fire steel..........?

  • Nice pack.

  • hahaha booboo kit!

  • Comment removed

  • Where is it made? If it not in the USA you can keep it.

  • Maxpedition does make great packs and bags. Nicely done video, as always.

  • great information thanks sootch!

  • BTW Sootch I reccomend the Maxpedition Micro Wallet!!!

  • Hey Sootch what do you think of the Maxpedition tacties? I have some plastic ones by Tactical Tailor that are super nice and durable.

I havea nice TT and Eagle Med kit set up but I'd like to havea second one. This looks nice and coupled with the Maxpedition double glove case tied to the front might be a good fit.

    Thoughts? Stay Safe Brother!

  • "If you're not first..You're last." Guess I'm last..haha!
