I was there on the beach for a spell in 1972 and for 3 weeks in the summer of 1976 too. Great time ! I wouldn'y go back now - probably too much of a conventional tourist 'paradise'.
@chrisglynn77 I was also there summer of 80. Only three tavernas, and certainly no tram to the beach! A man hired out his donkey to carry backpacks up and down the hillside to the beach. Bought homemade wine from a family that put out bottles in cool water. I think we slept under the trees right where the tram line is now!
i was at pelegas in 1976 for a wonderful month camping on the beach with dozens of others witha couple of tavernas to eat and drink at ,a magical place then ,we used to dive off rock seen at 1.20
Went back last year. Still a lovely beach but smothered with buildings and people - hard to place it all.
Not our little secret any more - not for a lbg time - but how lucky were we to have shared in this little bit of paradise? ;)

Me too, but around 1980 - a couple of the best weeks in my life - beautiful. Apart from the irate Greek woman who used to throw rocks at my tent.
