The reason why adults cannot hear it is because when you reach a certain age, which is 25 or older, your ears develop to a point to where you cannot hear the sound anymore. This sound is so that teenagers or young adults won't be hanging around malls and such.

that happens because, ur ear drums is skin that picks up sound waves and when u get older your skin gets wrinkly, when ur skin is wrinkly, it would be loose and flabby, and wouldnt vibrate to high pitch sounds, thats why some adults and most elderly people do not hear these soulds

I hope people know how stupid these things are... I'm 27 and I can hear it perfectly clearly- I can hear even higher pitched than that, easily. Where do these children get the idea that at 25 you suddenly become an 'old person' who 'cant hear' and stop living at that point? Good lord. I still get carded for rated R movies and routinely mistaken for a teenager. That, and different people age at different rates- but at any rate, you dont really age much until your 40's and on. Silly kids.
