  • this may sound wierd, but watching this I didn't see Day Lewis's character as a villan. He was a sly, greedy jerk, but he never came off as the butcher from gangs of ny.

  • No ones going to be talking about this 20 years from now... doubt it.

  • Co-Host FTW

  • Isn't this ConfusedMatthews next review?

  • this movie...isnt a classic.. newbs.

  • "No one is going to be talking about this movie 20years from now and say it was one of the greatest of this decade" HAHA what were you smoking?

  • Great movie. I greatly appreciated all the performances. And has anyone noticed how this is the only review where co host and Carlyle sit through it together? Is it just me or do they hate each other?

  • @machinmaman87 i was thinking the same thing, because co-host usually just, like replaces carlyle when hes not there, thats just what iv noticed, and im wondering why carlyle isnt around anymore, i mean maybe they dont hate each other, maybe they were just busting each other's balls i guess, idk

  • I don't know why, but Citizen Kane just didn't hit any high notes for me. I recognize it as a good movie but I just can't see why it's on such a high pedestal. Maybe I'll watch it again.

  • No, this movie will be remembered along with Citizen Kane I actually enjoy this film better. Daniel Day Lewis is absoutly magnificient no doubt

  • More pf a low full price to me

  • Daniel sounds like Sean Connery. O_o

  • This was a movie about good acting. Great movie, I absolutelty enjoyed it. Daniel Day Lewis is a natural.

  • One of the best movies Ive ever seen and One of the greatest performances Ive ever seen.. BETTER THAN SEX!

  • I just watched this movie and ehhh didn't care too much for it. Though I love Daniel Day Lewis good actor and fucking handsome.

Now I can deal with gore but *spoiler* when Daniel kills Eli on his bowling alley and ending it on a supposed cliffhanger made me want to demand a There will be blood 2! It was a bit too much when he killed Eli and some guy walks in and Daniel says I'm Finished! And the movie ends with unfitting music. WTF

  • Sometimes I catch myself thinking whoever voices co-host is actually a robot

  • "No one's going to be talking about this in 20 years as one of the best films of the decade"

HA. It only took 4 years for this to be considered an American classic.

  • THERE WILL BE CORN

  • i rofled my ass at the end about the blow hole xD

  • Loved the movie, and for you people trying to defend Daniel Day Lewis's character he was evil there is no excuse for the things he did in this movie

  • i tried to watch the first few hours but then i kept falling asleep. woke up and watched 2 more hours of it, fell asleep again, this movie is unwatchable for me, long and extra boring

  • 1:49 rofl :D

  • Why do they call Daniel evil? I mean give the guy a break he tried his best.

  • @OrangeOceanOctopus true although he was rough and tough he had too be cause he knew the dangers behind such a difficult job his intentions were good cause he was a real man he knew and saw past the b.s and he did have feelings but he dint show them

  • I'm shure they will still speak about this movie in 20 years beeing one of the best movies ever made.

  • ray is a gay club?hihi:D

  • spoiler i hated the part when he left his kid on the train alone

  • One of the greatest movies of all time. Daniel Day-Lewis is incredible.

  • there is no blood.........

  • Daniel Day-Lewis is a awesome actor

  • @InfinityJem

not better then my butt secks

  • full price

  • this movie was such a drag tbh

  • I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!

  • who/what is cohost ?

  • in this movie pretty much nothing happens! And yet you cant take your eyes off it every second of it is interesting, every line of dialogue encapsulates you. I loved this movie.

  • so it's based on John D. Rockefeller ?

  • @theend1011 In real life, John D Rockafeller owned standard oil which became a monopoly. The united states gov't took Rockafeller to court and rather than dissolve his company, he was able to split his company into a bunch of smaller companies, so he still was able to control the entire market. So, it's ironic that Daniel was looked at as being so greedy in the film, when really the "nice guys" that were trying to buy him out were from the biggest most greedy company in the world at the time.

  • @theend1011 No, it's based on a novel "Oil!" by Upton Sinclair which is loosely based on the life of Edward L. Doheny

  • whats with all the Texas bashing lol

  • if you go to site Movie Watcherus then you can see this free lol

  • Movie Watcher the best I have ever seen to download movies directly!

  • cohost 3000 and carlyle in the same room for the first time! already givin this video a thumbs up but now i give it 2

  • Okay. I see why this movie got such good reviews and all...but I just didn't get it. When I got done watching it is was like...uhhhhhh yeah.

  • Instant Full Price, no question.

  • I think it should be said that both Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune and Peter Travis of Rolling Stone consider THERE WILL BE BLOOD the best movie of the past decade 2000-2009!

  • saw this movie. Well, watched what seemed like the first 3 hours of it. I'm sure it really wasn't that long, but you get the point. Its boring. I'm just glad I didn't pay to see it.

  • if you love milkshake thumb up.

  • These reviews are great!

  • do they actually dislike co host? LOL

  • first 15min and last 30min is the best parts of the movie

    and the oil explosion part

  • daniel day lewis is one of my favorite actors of all time

  • I really hate this movie -.-

    It's just so boring and...wrong

  • Co-Host is my favourite

  • Fucken love this movie

  • Ahem.....I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!

  • eh, the movie was well-acted but I found it boring, and parts of it didn't make any sense. i could take it or leave it.

  • co-host is better than geeky whats-his-name and fatass cyrus

  • this movie was shit, it was very depressing

  • To watch his deterioration as a oilman into a greedy, money driven tycoon was fascinating. And the preacher was just as evil.

    Great character movie.

  • Yeah, well, go and watch scarface for basically the same story and with very little changed around between the two.

  • That's true, I was actualy thinking about scareface to... especially when it all went sour at the end. But that's sort of the typical story curve of "rise-and-fall" movies, just like "chick flicks" and "vigilante" or "revenge" movies. They have a similar frame around the story, but the setting and caracters are different. I must admit "say hello to my little friend" beats "I'm finnished" as famous last words ;)

  • There have been some with similar themes that manage to be different from one another. Treasure of the sierra madre, good, bad, ugly, wall street, and the overlooked hudsucker proxy. I think the challenege is to make it as different as possible, something I don't think twbb did, other then time/setting/place. Maybe character wise. In terms of scarface and twbb, scar face was at least better dramatically handled, such as not beating you over the head with greed. But they did that in twbb.

  • IF I HAVE A MILKSHAKE AND YOU HAVE A MILKSHAKE best scene ever

  • I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!

  • @ColonPatrol I DRINK IT UP!

  • I liked this movie when it was called scarface;)

  • same here.

  • Daniel Day Lewis was a douche bag in this movie and that's why it was a great performance he delivered a juggernaut of emotion and the end will always haunt me as a performance that will be hard to top.

  • Eh, he has given much better, much more deeper and impactful performances. In The Name Of The Father for instance.....

  • To be honest, it's probably not the most important movie ever... but in the pile of garbage the last years this one is a classic.

  • nah. I would give classic status to inglorious basterds, dark knight, district 9, ncfom, departed, aviator, shaun of the dead, lotr trilogy, hurt locker, moon, and some others I can't think of right now....

  • Those are all good, though very different. But man... there's been more bad movies than great made the last years. There will be blood is very well made, and the story is fasinating.. but I see why many would find it boring. I would define Thre will be blood as a classic in is genre. I love Shaun of the dead, LOTR, the departed and so on... but they are all in another category :)

  • I wouldn't even call it boring. Cliche and predictable, yes, but boring, no. It was just dramatacially flat. Mmm, I prefer to focus on the good rather than the bad. I see the techinal aspects of twbb as good, directing, visually, etc, but story, seen it done before. That's where I was disapointed. And what genre does twbb fall into? Other than a basic drama story.

  • I agree that it wasn't original, but well made. That earns it some respect, at least in these cgi-popcorn movie times. At least it's a better movie for Daniel Day Lewis than Gangs of New York ;) He's holding TWBB together by my opinion, though that opinion is not to original eighter ;) Have you seen "Let the right one in yet," the sweedish vampire movie, that's something really original. Even though it olds much back for the novel it's based upon.

  • I'm gonna be talking about this movie in 20 years. Ranting on about how it was in my day.

  • OH SHIT ITS CO-HOST jk i love that guy hes a beast

  • In the movie why did he kill the young preacher at the end? I never understood why!

  • Because he has anger issues.... well at least thats what i thought

  • Lol. You're pathetic.

  • i...drink...your...MILKSHAKE!!! i love that part

  • maybe I watched this wrong, but only the religious kid seemed real. The oilman seemed like a crazy villian fantasy. I hated his character and not the way you were supposed to. The ending didn't make much sense again because that character is some strange homunculus. I might have to watch this again because I respect Carlyle. But until I do, this is some ol' bullshit. Sorry for my bad spelling.

  • The movie had the soundtrack of a really good horror movie but it was more about an angry mustachioed guy who is kind of a greedy bastard for 30 years.

  • you have to be real disciplined to be able to watch this and pay attention thru out the whole movie, i understand the message is important and all, but for god sakes throw in a fistfight every 20 minutes or so to keep your audience awake will ya? well atleast its not as boring as benjamin button.

  • I drink your milkshake. I DRINK IT UP!!!!!

  • DONT BULLY ME DANIEL

  • I TOLD YOU I WOULD EAT YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • " You shouldve installed a hole so he can blow me" LMAO!!! poor co host

  • movie = 5/5

  • you are a bastard from a basket

  • my straw drinks your milkshake

  • IT DRINKS IT UP!!

  • the end really did

  • Is it just me, or co-host really doesnt get along with carlyle...

You guys totally convince me to go rent this movie btw...

  • there will be blood was epic

  • the end was hilarious how Plainsview mentally tortures the preacher.

    "DRRAAAIINNNNAAGEEE ELIIIIII. DRAAAINNNAGEEE."

  • MILKSHAKE!

  • DUDE whats that from????!!!!!

    sooo familiar

  • I don't really remember where I heard it. Titanic, I think.

  • Daniel Plainview is not some sort of inherently evil man. He is a capitalist, someone that seeks value, in this case not only money but a successful oil business. It is totally naive to just profile him as some greedy man who holds the total disregard for human life or property. He does kill two men with his own hands, however, the premise of the movie as a whole is a very good theme, the triumph of reason and productivity over faith as is seen throughout the film, but culminating at the end.

  • no he is an evil man. the definition of capitalist isnt achieving value through any means possible. hes more machiavellian, the end justifies the means.

  • I didn't say by any means possible.

  • Too best lines...1.I'VE FORSAKEN MY CHILD, and naturally 2.I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE

  • lol, there's both in the movie.

  • its does dumby y u think its rated R

  • You are obviously some loud mouth that got a kick out of "Epic Movie".

  • Pull your head out of your arse ggffgg2

  • Lol! Why are they so mean to Co-Host?

  • AMAZING FILM!!

  • I'd agree. The interactions between the oil guy and the creepy as hell preacher dude were absolutely crazy good, they were so scary and intense.

  • ya the score was so bad but the movie was very good

  • Mantee, i don't know how to spell it. High Mantiee, but still Mantiee.

  • its matinee

  • great movie

  • Overall, th emovie was a little slow for me, but it picked up as I started nodding off. The end was SPECTACULAR. Matinee.

I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE! I DRINK IT UP!

  • WOW, whats the deal between Co-Host and the Guys. The tenison between them was weird and kind of distracting....WHATS THE BACKSTORY?!

  • high full price

  • THERE WILL BE CORN

  • the movie was good, daniel-day lewis did a good job, the music was freaky, and the ending was terrific

    full price

  • best movie of the decade behind eternal sunshine

  • look at that mustache you cannot tell that gives away he is a bad guy!

  • Stupid comment dude.

  • Owned.

  • Awesome review.

  • One of my favorite movies.

  • are you fuckin kiddin me. There will be blood was an amazing smart and darkly funny movie. In fact it was 300 times better than that peice of shit no country for old men!

  • See... I.. Drink.. Your.. MILKSHAKE!!! SHOOOPP!!! I DRINK IT UP!

  • I have watched this movie FOUR TIMES, yet I still do not like this film other than the GREATNESS of Daniel-Day Lewis, who I will admit is GENIUS in this film, but honestly, I thought that the character of Daniel Plainfield made no sense because out of nowhere he started being a MAJOR DICK and I HATED the soundtrack because it clashed sooo much with the scenes going on, even though technically it is a great score

that being said, I recognize that it is a great film, I just don't like it

  • Co HOst is awesome

  • Daniel Day-Lewis sounds like he should be saying "Your Mother, Trebek!"

  • omg i love co-host

  • no one will remember this in 20 years? I very doubt people will forget about it. Too bad citizen kane didn't have jonny greenwood around.

  • 2 full prices and a better than sex

i am for sure ganna pick this up

  • I DRANK YOUR MILKSHAKE!

  • its no CITIZEN KANE...

THIS MOVIE IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER

    omfg..

  • My names Kane!

  • I sooo envy you

  • :) Woohoo.

  • there will be corn lol

  • the video response is gay

  • Better than sex? FUCK YEAH! This was the greatest film I've seen in a long time.

Daniel Day-Lewis was great, he was crazy but he wasn't Bill the Butcher. Plus he reminded me of my mom.

  • your mom must be ugly! jk bro

  • shoulda got best picture. no country sucked

  • No Country didn't suck. Moron.

  • I totally agree that No Country is over rated, and There Will Be Blood should have taken the Oscar, but there are a lot of bad films out there and No Country is definately not one of them.

  • No country was BRILLIANT!

  • can u explain why?

  • The cast for one thing, story, and Setting

  • and too continue what I was saying...for those who didn't like no country go back to watching you shitty cliche hollywood films with the happily ever after shit...lame

  • Exactly!

    somebody gets it!

  • @ kvanvelz (no country) I know what you're saying but just because it was unconventional does not make it a great movie.

I did like it, the first half is fantastic, I actually liked it a lot more the second time, I would say that if you didn't like it, give it another try you might be surprised.

  • No country was too smart for most people...the movie made you feel the way the characters motives...the movie said fuck it to the idea of making a movie to get a reaction/mood...it went right ahead to make a film that captured and reflected the personality of the characters...most did not catch that and you can tell who they are...they say things like "what was with the ending?" if you said that then you are the type of person this movie was too smart for, you obviously didn't get it

  • wasn't children of the corn kids leader issac?

  • This movie was good, but I do agree its not for everyone. Its really disturbing than it was advertised.

  • Daniel Day Lewis "is such an evil, rotten, malicious douche bag of a guy". I love that character description from Carlyle. LOL.

  • You suck. Its okay.
