  • forget it, cant make my to startup only ctrl-E

  • How did you get this cold & dark?

  • how you doing this camera in cop cit?

  • lol...1st engine starting should be no3 engine..then no 4.. no 2..and lastly no 1.. no 3 should be 1st engine to be start since it near the fuel tank .. and we do not interupt the fuel flow to the engine..

  • where it said, "hi I'm larry, this is my brother darryl and this is my other brother daryl" what did you do to do that, or make that work?

  • was this software free?

  • C-130 HUA!

  • in real, first you have to start engine number 3 then 421 :)

    btw nice video

  • You are so lost... :) I guess you know just enough to be dangerous.

The TD switches do not provide fuel flow, they simply turn the TD system on.

Your start sequence is backwards. The proper start sequence is 3 4 2 1 No C-130E would be able to do a self contained start without having the ATM go offline.

  • @LegereBen Hi,

Thanks for the info! Have a great holiday!

    MM

  • @LegereBen You tell em Ben!

I didnt know Hydro guys even knew how to turn on the engines, much less anything about them.

But on topic, yeah. this whole starting sequence is backwards. You turn on the engines before you test the fire suppression? Yikes. But you are pretty knowledgeable. For a simulation, this is also pretty good.

  • rated t for blood and gore lol ps are parware planes rated by esrb

  • what is that "gear" on the left of the controls? It looks like something you'd open your windows with, but when the yoke moved, it moved as well.

  • @chrisz71

I believe that is the steering gear for the nose wheel. It must enhance steering ability on the ground. On small a/c, the rudder peddles not only work rudder but are linked to the steerable nose wheel. Big planes most likely need an assist .

    MM

  • awesome!

  • @katdog5

    Hi, Thanks

  • I was a little disappointed at first because I thought this was with a real aircraft but I watched the whole thing and this was a pretty cool video. I hope you do make more videos of other aircraft, I'm totally subscribing to your channel.

  • everytime I havent flown her for awhile I watch your video for a refresher! thanks again!

  • @gokumalo

Thanks. I did that video quite awhile ago and need to do a few more on other aircraft.

    MM

  • This is a great add-on.

I use it alongside voice control add-on for FSX & S9 known as "Multi Crew Experience", and I get to interact with the virtual co-pilot through voice commands, to help me tame the beast that the C130 is.

Since a free 7 days demo is available, all you need is a headset with microphone to give it a go :-))

  • how did you get the view at 6:53?

  • Hi is there a c-130j model for fs2004

  • where did u download this sim from

  • THE ONES WITH THE PROPELLERS ARE THOSE C-130'S ASWELL?

  • excuse me, where have you downloaded active camera for fs2004? i dont find it.

  • fart @ 0:24

  • Great Vid!!! The term "bleed air" is used because on the last stage of compression of either the GTC/APU and all the engines, hot compressed air is "bled" off. It's used for all sorts of things from starting engines to cabin pressure and temp. Also Because the GTC/APU is located on the port side, the engine start up sequence is most likely #'s 3, 4, 1, 2. This is done because the APU is usually started by an ext generator whos conection is also located on the port side near the nose.

  • Hey thanks, appreciate that. I made the video several years ago and the bleed air comment was my lame attempt at comedy :). I should upgrade the video and get the resolutions higher and also add more instructional videos for fellow flight simers. Haven't had the time of inspiration :) C-130 is great model and I'm sure a well loved a/c by their pilots IRL!

    MM

  • Hey I really enjoyed it it's was really good. Were you using Track IR when you made that video?

  • Yup, trackIR. One of those things that initially present some user difficulties but later you can't live without! Thanks again.

    MM

  • Hello, is there a switch please to change night cockpit lighting to red/green/white inside the cockpit?

in real time during the flight (not using Ace)

im clicking everything but always got the white light..

  • you use the battery start the the gas turbin compressor also known as the goat ...it is a compressor ...a jet powered compressor to send air to the engine to the starter ...most c-130s have a pneumatic starter or uses air that forces the engine to roll over until the pressure from the engines can take over and once it starts as long as it has fuel it can run on its own...

  • Kudos Mcgenius, that's correct. Each engine is started by "bleed" air from the GTC or APU.

  • hello all, problem solved long time ago. The problem was at the model itself. There are some buggy versions on the net and you have to find the right one. As you can see, I am a ...pirate... :P

  • hello, would you mind telling me where you got the add on of this air strip. because i looked at lost creek, michigan on fs9 and lost creek, oregon, and they look nothing like this airstrip. I was probably guessing it's an addon. if so where did you download it, and is it paywayre? many thanks! nice video by the way.

  • Hi, The designation is W12 in Washington state. Ultimate terrain plus Fsgenesis 38 meter mesh adds considerable relief to the area.

    MM

  • DUDE your a ledge :) nice vid :P i Subscribed

  • @bleyland629 Thanks! MM

  • Hey its liam liam kennedy son of linda kennedy are you mr.paxton?

  • @SwitcherTrain Hi, Nope. MM

  • hi, although I do what you do I see no fuel on meters and no power at "Essential DC Transformer-Rectifiers" when you open the ATM generator, please advise!!!!

  • @kitharodos21 Hi, Let me take a look. been a while since I have flown the od birsd :)

    MM

  • I got the same problem, thanks for posting the error anyway.

No Power or sound from the ATM, yet the 'run' light is on, right?

At least I know I need to uninstall the aircraft now. :S

  • Great Vid :)

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the info!

    MM

  • Most interesting! I do recall a remarkable story, circa 1975, of a SVAF pilot escaping Saigon in a C130 -- one engine out -- flying the airplane single-handed. Almost impossible by some accounts. Thanks MM.

  • Hi, Thanks much!

    MM

  • The C130 is one of the best aircraft flying. Didn't realise that the pre flight check was so intence. thanks for talking us through. DW.

  • Hi, Thanks for your comments!

    MM

  • hey does anybody know how to get the external power to get connected? i can never get the switch on the left for it to glow idk how to connect external power to the aircraft so i can turn it on

  • Not too bad at all...not 100% accurate, but very good!

  • Hi. Thanks. I should update the old vid :)

    MM

  • When im in VC i cant get any or hardly any switches to move and they never move in 2d except a certain few?

  • Not sure what the problem might be. Perhaps ram considerations or graphics?

    MM

  • definatly not ram or graphics thanks anyway good video!

  • The GTC gets its fuel from main tank nr 2, so you need to open that prior to GTC start, and the normal T/O position for the flaps are 50%. TK

  • Thanks again!

    MM

  • Ok, for flightsim procedures, but there are a few more details for you.

Starting the engines, the procedures are eng # 3 first, then 4, followed by #2 and #1. The GTC does not give you enough bleed air pressure to start all four at the same time. You would not use crossfeed during T/O and landing, but use "tank to engine" ie no crossfeeds open. This is for safety reasons. Also dont forget hydraulics: Aux pump on, suction boost on, eng boost on. Aux off when airborne. TK

  • Thanks for the info..appreciate it! MM

  • how can he move around the cockpit???

  • for some reason I'm not getting enough pressure, my fuel quantity isn't showing anything so I cant start up

  • did u download a torrent? because a buddy of mine downloaded it and let me have it and i have the same issue. only CTRL-E works

  • AHh yess I saw the same video on a different website and I could'nt see most of the gauges and switches you pressed, I found your youtube and I finally found hope

  • Hore islamic radicals don't find sites like this...but well done I have ta say.LOL

  • Its a little realistic, not really though. A lot of what he did made no sense at all, but I guess it can only be so real

  • Thanks for posting the procedures, your the best man!!!! =) I can finally start the C-130 on my own.

  • omfg, really professional procedures - you're the best, thanks man!

  • stfu RZ, mike never claimed to be a C130 pilot.

  • Hi, you are absolutely right, sir. I have never flown a C-130 so you can be my mentor and straighten me out :)

The sim is fun however to do and since I'm limited to 10 minutes, I basically put it together to allow simmers to at least get it up and running. Great model and fun to fly

    MM

  • Dude nice video. could u do a lesson video of how to use the autopilot on the C-130 please.

    please respond thanks

  • Hi. I'll give it a try but don't hold your breathe :). Takes a bit of doing top put together these videos

    MM

  • Cool man. ur a legend

  • on what airport is this video???

amazing vid 5\5 star and fav!

  • Hi, Thanks. this is an old video. I should do an upgrade. :)

    MM

  • do you recommend this aircraft?!

  • Sure, I'd recommend it. Gives you and idea about the C-130 and how nice a flying plane it is. Been around a long time!

    MM

  • How is your camera so smooth, like FSX? Have you got a motion sensor headset?

  • Hi, I'm using TrackIR. Yes, you do were a had with 3 reflective infrared tabs on it and an infrared sensing device. Just Google trackIR. You will find it.

    MM

  • where did you find a virtual cockpit foor de c130??

  • The mdel is by Captain Sim. Just fdo a Google on it and you will fin it.

    MM

  • 5 stars!

  • Hi. thanks!

    MM

  • Did you use Track IR?

  • TrackiR, huh? I want one...

  • what program do you use to move the view like that?

  • Bleed walves bleed air to AC and other funcs.

  • got 3000+ hours in the plane......

  • pretty funny....TD switches for fuel flow, never opened the GTC bleed air valve, 40% flaps, I could go on and on.... neat simulator though.

wipers are on the copilots side panel....

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for the tip!

    MM

  • how do u turn on the wipers?

  • Hey do you work at the alberta aviation museum?

  • Hi,

    No I don't. Do I have a twin? :)

    MM

  • Hey it's a pretty nice and realistic sound!

  • Wow your good

  • The sequence of engines start should be 3,4,2,1 instead of 1,2,3,4 ??

  • Thanks!

    MM

  • bman, I think you may be a little confused. Turboprops do not reference N1. Furthermore, the C-130 E and H have direct drive engines. Everything is turning at the same speed (the props are geared down of course). In the C-130, the top instrument is Torque-measured in inch-pounds (not N1). Then the next is RPM (%) then TIT and lastly, fuel flow.

  • Hi nice video!! I got a C-130 from internet and its really bad, can u tell me where to shop a C-130 with characteristics like yours. Where is the airport in your video??

    Best Regards!!!!

  • How do you us the in flight refueling. And how far can you fly before you run out of fuel.

    Thanks

  • Well, in the video you asked what the four engine bleed valves accomplish, this is actually quite simple. Bleed valves allow the immense pressure generated by engines to safely exit the aircraft and dissipate in the atmosphere, if this is not accomplished the engine will overpower itself and will subsequently blow up. Hopefully I added a bit of insight into the use of the engine bleed valves, although, on prop aircraft, blood could come out of it if ground doesn't watch the engines ;)

  • Your description of bleed valves is in error. Bleed air is extracted from the engines to run various systems, namely Air conditioning/pressurization and Anti-Ice. You must open the bleed valves prior to start to allow a path for the air from the GTC to reach the starter-valve.

When the bleed valves are closed on a running engine, the engine actually runs cooler and can produce more power.

  • During transient power changes, automatic bleed valves open to expel excess compressed air. If they failed closed, the engine would not "blow up". It would most likely simply begin to compressor stall and you would hear a "chugging" sound and see a rise in TIT with a decay in RPM. To remedy this, one simply reduces throttle to the point that the compressor stall stops and RPM recovers.

  • Thank you for correcting my error, I heard that from a friend of mine who happens to be a pilot, had assumed he knew what he was talking about, again thank you for correcting my error.

  • Hi, Thanks for the info!

    MM

  • maybe you can help me when i start up from cold & dark i dont have low fuel pressure resulting in a failure to turn over. any help????

  • my bad i have low fuel pressure

  • use enrichment. the switches to the right of the start buttons.

  • 2. It appears during start that you get a rise in TIT even before the RPM starts to rise. In a normal start, you should have at least 12% RPM before light-off.

    3. The Flaps are normally 50% for takeoff(not 40%)

  • your confusing n1 and n2...you should have 12% n2, not n1. the top instrument is n1

  • the top instrument is torque, the c-130 has a single spool engine

  • Nice voice commentary. Couple of points:

1.These engines should be started in low speed ground idle(green buttons down). Then, when at least one engine is started (normally #3), you "up speed" it to 100% and put its generator online. Then you can kill the GTC if you want, but normally all 4 are started with GTC air.

When you down-sped all 4 after start with the GTC offline, you will lose all AC power.

  • how did you get the plane and every thing to turn off

    can some one please comment?

  • Thanks for that. Your narration made it fun.

  • Looks like he's using TrackIR! ; )

  • how can you start in fs2004 with the engines off.?

  • Hi...yeah I know....just trying to be humorous...sort of :)

    Thanks!

    MM

  • this guy has no clue, i dont have enought time to tell how wrong this guy is ... not anything even close to accurate

  • ha ha ha, ive got the full version now, damn they really did a good job with this one.

  • That's pretty cool. The goat even sounds realistic. I would like to see some of the ILS approaches, since I work primarily on the Comm/Nav for the C-130H's. what I really wonder is if they could implement SKE on the sim, where you could fly in a realistic formation with other aircraft, commanding drops and turns and all that fun stuff. And yes... ADF is a pain in the butt, both to use and to maintain.

  • Hi, I have interfaced GPS nav and selected GPS procedures taking the plane to the start of an approach and from there, switched to standard ILS. That all works really well in the model. As far as formations go, the best approach would be to do it with multiple players online. I have not tried that.

    MM

  • u seatin in 2nd officer seat most the time but w u suggest about the captain sim c-130 i have cuz i don't have coast guard livirie oh and i like the paratrooper switchs like caution light and green light highly detailed aircraft

  • Hey thanks again. Great airplane and if the model is an indication of its flight properties IRL, it must be a pleasure to fly the thing!

    MM

  • Hi, Thanks for the info!

    MM

  • i only have 9 liveries with my cs c-130 and coast guard not in it

  • Great!! any more little videos planed for this bird?

  • Hi. I should do one on ILS approaches with the old C-130. The autopilot can be a bit dicey :)

    Maadd Maike

  • Hello!! Great video!! Just some few questions. I'm doing exactly what the video is telling but when I try to start the engines it wont work. When I run the GTC I can hear the sound but after the ON SPEED green light turns off i stop hearing the sound and nothing happens, maybe that is causing the problem. I hope you can help me! thanks!

  • Well, I have had the same issue with certain variants of the C-130. Try the HC-130 (The Coast Guard) It is one of the Captain Sim liveries you have.

    Maadd Mike

  • Great video! "I can't see a friggin thing..." lol! I really want this aircraft, it looks amazing. Again, great video!

  • Great video but as always when I try to do it, it dosen't work! Prop levelers all the way forward, the switches beneath them to null or auto position? Then the battery and then GTC door open, GTC bleed open and GTC main start don't work... what do I do? I also have this on FSX and not on FS9 but there should be NONE difference, right??

  • I would think FXS model and FS9 model would function the same for startup procedure.

You do have the batter switch on? How about the bus ties..are they engaged?

  • Hi, thanks!

    MM

  • Start engines in this order, 3,4,2,1. DONT advance the throttles until the engines are at idle speed. Just a couple of pointers.

  • Thanks!

    MM

  • Hi there, Thanks for the comments. The C-130 model is really a dream to fly and i suspect IRL the plane is stable as hell.

    MM

  • You have a lot of mistakes. If you have any questions ask me. I actually work as a c-130 Flight Engineer, and I noticed that your start sequence is all out of order.

  • Hi there. hey that's cool! Sure, let me know what makes for a totally correct startup procedure.

    Thanks,

    MM

  • I've got this same sim and personally am interested in what is the correct startup sequence for the Herc. I have the normal procedures literature that came with the sim, but it'd be cool to compare with actual procedures. Mind sending them to me? I'd really appreciate it!

  • MM, Thanks for posting the video. I, like some others, have had issues with the fuel pumps working. Still trying to figure out the cause on that one.

For those asking for a way to look around without a hat switch, there's a file (avsim) called "F1 view" or something to that effect. It enables the mouse wheel, where when pressed will move the view in VC, or if scrolled, will allow a person to 'walk' around the cabin (shift for up/down, Ctrl for left/right).

    Thanks again

    Capt. Hog

  • Hi there,

    Let me take look.

    MM

  • Mate appreciate the work you put into this video but you got a few things wrong as far as I can see, the "propeller controls" aren't as you addressed them they're called "Condition levers" Your start-up sequence is incorrect as on the Herc' it's 3-4-2-1. The low-speed ground idle buttons or as you addressed em as the "green" buttons which idle the engines shouldn't be on for takeoff. BTW Their called bleed values because to "bleed" is to draw/extract.

    Good Day!

  • Hey there. Thanks for the info. On the model, the idle buttons pop off as soon as you advance the throttles. Does it happen that way IRL ?

    Thanks!

    MM

  • No mate, you have to pop em out yourself from what I can remeber. But the thing is CS didn't model their function at all as their purpose is what their name intends really LOW SPEED GROUND IDLE while the engines are on the ground at idle it lowers the RPM a bit.

In the real world if you hit the lowspeed ground idle buttons the engines would make a extremely cool sound like a "whooosh..." can't describe it but nothing on the CS Model btw the button sequence is 23 14.

  • Got ya. thanks a bunch!

    MM

  • Too bad they didn't model the "whoosh"! :)

    MM

  • hi there, im having some problems, i folowed what you said, but im having a few problems with the fuel pumps, the warning sign is on, saying...low pressure, can you help me with this???tanks, and nice video..this way i cant start the engines,,

  • Hi, Make sure that 1) battery on and 2) the Gas Turbine Compressor(GTC) door switch is open, the GTC bleed is open, start the GTC. When that is up and running flip the Air Turbine Motor switch to "on" and finally switch on the ATM (air turbine motor (switch has yellow around it far right). The low pressure pump light should go out.

    MM

  • its not and E model there are no jamming pods located on the outboard wings, id know i am a EC-130 crew chief

  • wear ken you the copit procedure downloaden

    facking you

    gr the netherlands

  • WOw thanks, taht vid really helped me out how to run the plane. Thanks :)

  • Glad it helped!

    Maadd Mike

  • the c-130 is an amazing plane. what particular model is this?

  • Hi, I´m from Mexico, How can I have a C-130 for mi flight simulator 2004?

    Thanks

  • Hi, let me take a look and see if i can duplicate the problem

    MM

  • Gotcha. Thanks for the info.. So you have had some close work on the airplane. My guess is you really like and respect that machine. God, it has been around since the Vietnam War! Actually, 1956 production started! I'll bet pilots like the plane. I think I would. You too, I'm sure.

    MM

  • Oh not really :) Hey. I can take it...I'm kind of an old fart...heh heh.

Hey thanks on the info. That's good. Ya know I believe on the B-17 the sequence was no. 3 first. I heard that was because that was the shortest cabling from batter to engine. Of course, no apu on that grand old bird:)

    MM

  • Het thanks! It is a great sim package and the sound package is nice isn't it? You know, in working with it in the sim, you get the idea that aircraft is a very stable machine capable getting in and out small unimproved airstrips. Say, what is your c130 experience?

    MaaddMike

  • Send me on my way! :)

  • Bleed Air = (cause they bleed air) lol. Air comes out. Good vid though.

  • :) yeah, I know... Thanks!

    Mike

  • I cant wait for the streched version comes out the c130h30

  • what version are u useing just flights or captain sims

  • Captain Sim

  • I actually have never seen the cockpit od a C-130 in real life :)

    MM

  • hi,

where can you get the nice virtual cockppit i have a paywhere C-130 and it does not have a cockpit like that

    grtz Tiger

  • captainsim dot com

    MM

  • great job with that short demo. TY!

  • Thanks!

    MM
