I don't think there was a version of this game without a gold cartridge... it wasn't some special promotion. It was the only way you could have the game.
no you're right. the only version was the gold version. when people think about a special gold cartridge promotion they're thinking about the OOT. That one was a gold cartridge if you pre-ordered it.
Both NES Zelda games had gold as well as grey cartridges. The grey cartridges were released near the end of the system's life. Nintendo re-released a few of their signature games from the system, such as Metroid, both Zelda games, and at the same time, Mike Tyson's Punch Out was re-released as simply Punch Out, as they no longer had a contract with Mike Tyson, and he was removed from the game.
I'm not trying to argue, I collect vintage games, much like one would collect comic books and such, and was simply sharing my knowledge. I have both a gold and a grey copy of each Zelda game.
I had the golden Cartridge of this thing, one of the BEst NES games ever, and one of the hardest, but still I beat it, and the Minibosses bring back fond memories, thanks guys!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I've decided I don't care about this topic enough anymore to debate. I find it sad to see people know more about videogames than I do.
