thats a great looking samick. i love the wood grain, mine is black with the white pin strip around the body line. all i have in it is stage two pick-ups. ive had since i was 11 its my fav. great guitar man.
I just purchased this same guitar man in mint condition at the local pawn for $140.00 bucks. It kicks! there is more black in the woodgrain of mine. Gonna upgrade those gay knobs to some chrome to match the pickups, and jam to some good old black metal and death ss bro' .
I own a Samick AV-3 Model, got rid of my epi lp standard to get it. upgraded the pickups to seymour duncan alnico 2 pros. CTS pots, PIO capacitors. switch craft jack and toggle.
got the git for 240 bucks. 90 for the wiring harness, 120 for the pickups
so around 450 bucks, same price as an epiphone plain top.
I prefer the samick way more than my old epiphone. way more bang for your buck. and it has a long neck tenon as well :)
I found a used Samick model Torino at a music store and I tried it out and for less than $200 with Duncan designed pickups, this thing thoroughly rocks! I've got a friend who has played in sessions with Eric Clapton, etc. and he told me not to get rid of it, because it's a premium quality guitar. He's the one who advised me to buy a used guitar since I'm just starting out. The music professionals have been good since I've used the guitar for emotional healing since losing my wife in 2003.
@enchantedfarmstead That's a great deal! I'm sorry to hear about your wife, my first wife became very sick and eventually passed at a very young age also. Play till your hearts contend!
@loljonasfail The obvious difference is the weight. The les Paul's are very heavy. Though this is what gives them geat sutain, I prefer a lighter guitar. You can always get sutain from your amp and pedals.
@GuitarSpivak Well mine has 4 knobs. A volume and tone for each pick up. If they only have two then it must be volume and tone set to both pickups unless it only has one pick up.
@yougotpownd Well this one was 500.00 because it was a special edition. But you can find them for about 300.00. A Gibson costs 2,00.00 and up. The Samick is comparable to the Epiphones but I own an Epiphone Les Paul and I prefer the Samick. But the Epiphones are very goos for the price also!
Damn, Jorge, you been holding out on me. When we were working together you downplayed your skill tremendously. You're a shredder, man! Totally cool, bro. Miss running into you at work every once in a while. Take care and excellent playing. I'm totally jealous now. =)
I gave my 'classic' morley away I was so board with it. Would love to go one by one through wah's. Mine just didn't have much shape at all and the new optical switch is not adjustable like the old ones. You could put the mid point where you like it.

is this an av3????
yazdegard14 1 year ago
@yazdegard14 No, I don't think so. It's just Greg Bennet signature special edition Avion.
gittarfin 1 year ago
@yazdegard14 it's an AV6 limited edition spalted maple top. regular AV6 models have quilted maple veneers with an edgeburst/rimburst finish.
