Im not saying that one car is better but a little more even race would probably be between the Corvette and a Shelby gt500 or a Cobra. Either way 2 nice cars, different in weight, hp, torque. The Gt500 would be a good match up. Not to mention a supercharged Mustang Gt with bolt ons could do just as well or even better.

it doesnt matter. stock for stock, the vette would destroy the mustang. The Mustang is a 3700+lb 300hp car (265whp) and the Vette is a 3200lb 400hp car. The mustang is no challenge for the vette, stock or not

Mustangs have live rear axles that hamper them from putting the power down early in order to push them out of the turns and it also makes the rear end swing out during hard cornering which makes it near impossible to keep traction and grip to get out of the corners quick enough to keep up. Mustangs and Corvettes are not in the same class or league

I'll just say the facts for what they are, 99-04 mustang gt's, bullits, and mach 1's are great drag cars and can be made to turn ok. the motor is pretty stout and the rear end is bullitproof. C5 corvettes are pretty good at everything, not too slow down the quarter mile, and very good at handeling if there manual trans, the auto sucks
The rear suspension that gives a corvette is great track prowess and very smooth handeling is the same that causes it to falter at the drag strip. it's not very strong if you start to add power so stuff like cv's need to be replaced. 3 valve mustangs handle ok but are very unstable at speed with the stock suspension, in the quarter mile the dog ass slow. Fbody's are bad ass in the quater mile stock, but aren't the strongest when it comes to rear ends, drive shafts, torque arms...
true, but that's with any high hp independent rear setup. The factory made them strong enough to handle stock power easily, but tried to be as cheap as possible. Any gearhead knows that you cant up the power without changing the suspension and drivetrain to handle it. And true, F-body's dont have the strongest drivetrain and suspension setups either, but hey, those are what aftermarket parts are for lol. Imma Chevy guy, but i also like some mustangs too.
Actually bro that mustang on the vid does have independent rear suspension. Any of the 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004 cobras have irs. I will agree that corvettes do handle better then mustangs, but when you put the price difference from the corvette towards the handeling of a mustang, you can get on sick road racer. I road race and auto cross a 2003 cobra and with a set of adjustable coilovers, R compound rubber, and geometry tweaks, I whoop ass!
