  • Lovin the cardboard cow just right below the bicycle :-)

  • 1:55 under pressure 30 seconds to mars ??

  • i did notice that i get some effects when switched to the loop sampler for some bizarre reason, always wondered why, thought it was some ghost preset that gets switched on and then doesnt turn-off when i gswitch to loop, but it doesnt always happen i think...could be wrong my dl4 is on the fritz for awhile, so sounds sweet, guy.

  • owned the dl4 for over a year..your vid made me dig in and really play with the pedal thx...its like a whole new toy now. Nvr knew about self oscillation..fucking awesome.

  • @40tired hell yeah!

  • Hey your guitar tone here is really beautiful and great playing, thanks for sharing.

  • @foxyfella my pleasure

  • how is the dl4 working if you don't have any of the buttons turned on?

  • @okamasphere the mystery deepens . . .

It's definitely working - it is just set to the loop function

  • Awesome stuff! Very Explosions In The Sky - ish. Are you in standard tuning?

  • @claytowerz Actually, I'm dropped half a step (same goes for all of the vids). Thanks for the compliment!

  • Nice effects! I really want one of these pedals! By the way, your band is pretty fucking awesome! Inspires me to write some stuff with my band!

  • @Doombot2point0 Thanks man! Yeah, they are a great value and are nice live because of the pre-sets

  • what dl4 settings? any other pedals?

  • @vgw1971 : i think that i put the camera on the pedal to show the settings. no, this was the only pedal in use. thanks for watching!

  • so u dont need to mod ur DL4 to do this?

  • @Jimismusic No - I just put it in the looping mode and started messing with the knobs.

  • Did you do just the Callaham saddles or the whole schpeel? Sounds good.

  • @leothepainter1 : Thanks - I got the complete Callaham setup - the actual bridge plate is a really crucial part to the sound - definitely made it sound bigger and fatter. Totally worth the 129 (more comfortable too, in my opinion)

  • I watched this video like... a year ago. Its still one of the best DL4 demos I've seen on youtube. I'll give you some credit for me purchasing a pair of em. lol

    -No Ideas But In Things

    (check out the music!)

  • @NoIdeasButInThings thanks so much!!

  • @NoIdeasButInThings haha awesome thanks man!

  • what upgrades did you put on your tele? i'm thinking about doing some mods for mine and we have a similar playing style. I mostly just want to lower the action of my strings though hah

  • @Kentypooilu I added a Callaham Vintage T bridge, RS Guitarworks vintage kit (3 way switch), Lolar 52T in bridge (not used in this video), black pickguard

  • Sounds lime sum kick ass trance track!! Beautiful playing though!!

  • @UPLIP12345678 thanks so much for listening! Don't be afraid to pass it around :)

  • that is super sick..im gunna try that shit now haha..u gota marshall head?what kind?i gatta JCM 2000 ..but sweet tone so u just set up the knobs like that or what?

  • @tanvo93 Yes, I put it in looping mode and just started messing with the knobs. The other amp in the video is more like a Soldano / Marshall hybrid. It's one of the prototypes for the Soldano's SLO. The thing is too loud for stadiums, but it is pretty legendary

  • @swk22

I never thought "soldano" and "too loud for stadiums" could be in the same sentence

  • What upgrades did you do on the Baja?

  • @tepelkop11 Callaham Vintage T bridge, RS Guitarworks Vintage kit, black pickguard, Lolar 52T pickup. Thanks for listening

  • Sound awesome dude.

  • I can't wait to get mine for my piano to do what you've done..

  • love your tele bro keep rockin on =D

  • Dude...that sounds nice! I knew I've gotten that sound but the way you use it is nice! Im impressed!

  • cool sound

  • I have this pedal and it's fucking amazing. Ill be putting some kewl demo's of me messing with it soon. So worth buying.

  • great dude, like the myspace, like your stuff.

    question.

so...correct me if i'm wrong, but, you're just with lots of feedback, and with a short dealy you make a resonance box. BUT, the glitchyness you said it's the chorus effect?

  • sweet amp. sweet guitar . i have a hollow body tele.

  • I trust my dl4 i got new back in 02......It has never let me down and I just bought its smaller brother echo park and rock them at the same time. Trust me I get killer sounds.........

  • do you trust the dl4? i've heard soooo many things about reliability issues.

i'm considering buying one used though...

  • @nAILZ94 hey i think the reliability issues were only for a batch of dl4s that came out. If you buy one used and its still working it'll be able to survive almost forever.

  • its worth it but not new. finding it used is the best choice. the dl4 is the most used pedal in my rig because it has so many functions. the only problem i find with it is that it has some cheap components such as the switches. if you press them to many times repeatedly, the spring from the switches slips off the button on the circuit board. theres an upgrade/mod you can find online that replace the switches with momentary switches which gets directly connected to the circuit board.

  • omar rodriguez lopez from mars volta use this one

  • Thanks for showing those settings, that instantly became my favorite sound the DL4 can produce. The best part is the loop function works with those settings, so you can layer some awesome delays in the background, turn all the knobs back down and play clean loops over the top.

  • using that effect to dub over rhythms is very fun. Thanks for the video

  • right on man, this was really fun to mess around with, this has to b the most fun pedal to fuck around with. pretty much perfect for shoe-gaze jams

  • i ended up settling with the DMM and Echo Box because of sound quality, but the DL4 is just sooo versatile and fun to screw with. the tap tempo and presets make it perfect for playing out. hmmm i should probably grab another

  • do it! Minus The Bear that shit up! but im having a problem i was hoping mayb u cud help me solve. Recently whenever i set the pedal to the loop option, i still have a small delay. i cant seem to get rid of it. Im just wondering if my pedal might just b malfunctioning??

  • You didn't show any secrets. Cool stuff and everything but you didn't show anything that you were doing on the pedal.

  • way cool -- thanks!

  • Holy tits. How the hell did you do that? I put the settings the same as yours, and put it on the loop sampler, but mine definitely didn't do that. I actually just got mine today haha

  • haha i'm actually wondering if the pedal that i got was defective or something! i bought it new, but still :)

  • wich knob give the 28 sec loop?

  • hmm I'm not sure about the 28 sec figure. i actually sold the pedal a while ago, but I'm pretty sure that you just set the far left knob to "loop", and then stomp on the far right switch to activate it. I think that the max time is a lot less than 28 secs though

  • That's correct -- standard loop time is 14 seconds, and the far right switch makes everything 1/2 time, so that equals 28 seconds.

  • Cool dude

  • Those are some amazing sounds man. Seriously

  • this is a cool video and all, but it doesn't seem so much like any secrets were revealed.

  • @takeittothemall pretty sure the secret is the nob settings to self oscillate based on pick attack. that way you can kind of accompany yourself without your melody line echoing too much. i think thats what he was going for at least

  • So you don't have any of the knobs on at all? I just got my DL4 somewhat recently and really haven't mastered it yet. I assume that when the delay knob is on when the looper is engaged that it just delays regardless? haha help me out man.

  • hey man what's up? the video starts with the camera showing the DL4 - you can see the white marks - those are my settings when the DL4 in in Looper mode. The knobs are all "on" (not at the minimum setting).

have fun with it - there are a ton of sounds in the box!

  • I see DEAD PEOPLE!!!

  • EXPLODE AND CATCH ON FIRE aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

    hilarious

  • thanks guys for watching! duuuuuude i hate listening to the sound of my voice. i sound soooofaking retarded

that jcm 800 was ridiculous though. it's cool to crank it and see the furniture get blasted through the walls. i guess :)

  • Haha I came here after watching a live Bloc Party video where Kele uses the loop function for the vocal hook on "Mercury". But I also just realized I have a bunch of your band's songs on my iTunes already. Rock on dude!

  • haha no way! that's really cool. yeah i miss those guys. i've been working on a solo album all this last year though and it should be done by mid september.

Justin is in a side project called Noxious Foxes and the guitar stuff is siiiickkkkk - check it out if you get a chance and thanks for listening!

  • @bassandguitargreg: lol that amp still haunts my dreams - neighbors wanted to end my life.

    [tone first . . . neighbors second]

  • that was awesome. The intro was insane! well done!

  • nice garage

cool video too, i enjoyed it

  • hating won't get you anywhere man. . . . grow up.

i made this video to help people have fun with their gear.

maybe you should try doing something helpful today??

  • are you twisting the speed knob up and then down at 2:17?

  • i'm pretty sure that was the speed knob that i was twisting

  • that was sick,

  • thanks for giving it a listennnnnnnnnnn

  • Have you heard surfing with the alien?

well at 2:17 it sounds like the intro, just more rugged

  • hmmm i'll check that band out thanks

  • It's a song.

Cool video, BTW. I should get one of these soon.

  • The pedal is great... I don't have much time to explore it but on holidays I will do it correctly :D

  • dude that was bone sweet! great demo!

  • cool man thanks for checking it outtttttttttttttttt

  • That was awesome.

  • thanks!

  • you got a killer tone dude

  • thanks strat master!!! i definitely miss that tweed - really special amp

  • what happend, sold it?

  • yeah, i wasn't a fan of tweed style distortion. i got endorsed by a newer company called Morgan Amplification - I love their amps - there are a bunch of demos on my channel. My favorite is the "E-MU 0202, Morgan AC20, Baja Tele" video

  • Does line 6 dl4 really change natural sound of the guitar?

  • I'm a little confused - do you mean does it color your bypassed signal? It is true bypass and I haven't really noticed any difference when it is in my signal chain.

  • Yep, seems crazy I agree. Let me know what you find. I bought this brand new - maybe there was a defect? Other people have emailed me and said that it worked though . . . hmm. Thanks for listening

  • So, let me get this straight. I connect Guitar>(other FX on my pedalboard)>DL4>Amp. Then, I flip to loop sampler mode. Then I adjust all the other knobs to the same positions as you've set and, without engaging any of the foot switches, I can play through it and achieve these sorts of a effects? It just doesn't seem logical that it would be affecting your clean signal without any of the switches turned on. I have a DL4 , so I'll have to write down your knob settigns and give it a shot.

  • This is sick. I'm now running my dl4 straight to my effects loop so i can use a similiar setting. Thank you!!!

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeet have fun with it!

  • i am about to buy it love this pedal , just one question though... do i really need to buy its own adpator, cuase i've read some reviews that i should, can't i just plug it in to my boos 9v adaptor??? it would really avoid me having troubles with my new dl4...please answer me back

    cool vid...

  • Hi, I use the Visual Sound 1 Spot adapter to power all my pedals and it came with a special Line 6 adapter. I think you can buy this adapter separate for like 3 bucks and plug it onto the end of the Boss wall wart. I could be wrong - but I just tried a boss adapter and it won't fit at all. Good luck and thanks for watching

  • you have to use something with reverse polarity. you need at least an adapter to convert the boss to reverse polarity.

  • Cool man. Im debating between this pedal and the Hazarai Memory Man. Got any suggestions?

I mostly getting one for the loops. Do you know much on the MM?

  • get the dl4

  • I've actually never used the DD-20. Used to have that DD-6 pedal, but got the DL4 for live use and never looked back. Maybe you can return the dd20??? Thanks for the compliments, glad you enjoyed it!!

  • dude i wish i had seen this video before i bought the boss dd-20 yesterday. these are exactly the sounds i'm trying to get. have you ever used a dd-20? do you know if can get similar sounds out it? thanks for the video, though. rad stuff.

  • very cool man, keep up the great work.

  • thanks for cruising by. just got a siiiiick new amp, so I'll have a bunch more vids up soon - and a bunch of new tapping stuff

  • nice tricks, just got one one of these to start working on some of my own stuff. what is your band name? are those standard pups in your tele?

  • Thanks man . . . pink floyd ehh - one of my favorite bands. i just got an ac15 handwired with a scumnico and alnico blue. but man i miss that tweed amp - gonna have to order another one in the future. thanks for swinging on by!

  • wow, I have had this pedal a year now, I had no idea this was possible. Good job dude, wicked tone too. Thanks From Canada

  • hello from Bosnia just wanna say awesome dude and tnx for tips and tricks now I'm going to buy DL4. Only problem is DL4 is not cheep in Europe :( like in US I will try to order it from Musiciansfriend or somethin like that. Again tnx for tips keep rockin

  • just bought this pedal today thanks to your excellent demo :) cheers mate

  • nice! pm me if you need any info on setting - cause are soooooo many different sounds in that thing

  • that's pretty sick dude. This sound would fit great in a Post Metal or Shoegaze piece.

  • thanks for checking it out. I really love the DMM going with the DL4 - best of both worlds and the sound just goes on forever

  • excellent rig man

    excited for you

  • hey thanks a lot for stopping by, I appreciate it!

  • This sounds ace. I'll check out your band

Have you thought about getting an expression pedal to control the repeats (or any of the other controls) ?

  • sorry, I meant the delay time.

  • I've been meaning to get an expression pedal for it. A guy that I played guitar with had one hooked up and he was making some crazy sounds. He also had an EHX HOG with an expression and a crazy thing called a "peep" hooked up to it. It's like an expressionpedal that controls the sound by the motion that an object makes in front of its light stream. crazy!

  • Ace! I really want to get myself this pedal, seems really versatile!

    Sounding really good, well done!

  • thanks man, appreciate it! i could never live without my analog delay, but the line 6 DL4 is just too damn versatile - definitely a bargain for all that it does.

  • very nice! if you use the Digital delay setting you can make it sustain it self enough to go on forever, meaning turning the time nob on the unit makes pretty sweet similer noises, with a bit more range and dynamics. try the tube echo setting with the speed at 12 o clock, and the Repeats at max then the mix nob at 12 o clock. then play somthing to self sustain it, after that, Turn the Speed nob slowly faster and faster then quickly turn it back to half or slower for some space explosions lol!

  • That sounds amazing, thanks for sharing this! Convinced me to go out and pickup a DL4.

  • that's pretty cool. seems like you're using the repeats greatly to your advantage, you have an excellent sound

  • thanks for stopping by!

  • haha thanks so much you are too nice. i love minus the bear, they are one of my favorite bands. i've been on a finger tapping binge lately, I've got to upload more videos - I have 30 or so sitting on my computer - I just need to refine them a bit

  • wow. You sir are genius. do you listen to minus the bear?

  • That is seriously cool sounding. I'm not sure exactly how you're doing it though.

  • Thanks for watching! it shouldn't be too hard to duplicate if you set the knobs like I did and keep the unit bypassed. halfway through the clip I roll the Delay Time control from 2 o'clock to 9 o'clock

  • that rocks

it's like being on a island at night with your girlfriend kind of mood

    5/5

  • glad you liked it, thanks!

  • good sound!!
