Argh. You cut out the bit where he taunts the audience at the end of Sailor's Hornpipe. He declared something like "This is war!" and went even faster!
I just love the best part who stat at 4.30. The musicpice they start playing at that time, the sounds the audions make and the way they moving up and down makes me lol every time, year after year after year.

This is the reason why 20th Century music and classical in general is so unpopular amoungst the new generation, you see the people in the crowd of events like this, and are put off immediatly.
wow OohLiverShot are you so ever wrong, considering the popularity of youth orchestras where I live both in schools and out. I for one am 15 and love classical music and playing the cello in my 2 youth orchestras one with about 100 members. Keep your facts straight mate.
The final foot-tapping bit is called Jack's the Lad, better known as the Sailor's Hornpipe. You will find an explanation of the entire piece on Wikipedia under Fantasia on British Sea Songs.
Im not usually into classical music but i do love it when the proms is on the television... i think its quite comical sometimes to watch the boping in the audience it reminds me of a civilised mosh pit
Thanks for posting this. Lovely stuff. I love the hooters in the audience lol. I saw this on TV that night and had it turned up so loud the whole County could probably heared it lol.

I love the bobbing, it's like the pretentious middle-aged equivalent to a mosh pit.

I love it! At the end it just decsends into a race to see who can finish first, the audience or the orchestra?
