Below-Knee Amputee Fitted with Powered Prosthesis

I started reading about this stuff out of curiosity from a technology standpoint and also because so many soldiers were coming back as amputees. Seeing amputees walking around in the summer in the city I noticed that their gate is pretty normal or close to it with C Legs and things. But when they have to walk sideways or something it's less so. I just want to see these people get the best possible care they can get. The most exciting thing I have seen so far is from ACell out of ColumbiaMD

I'm guessing it actively helps with push off on the prosthetic foot. Not much need with a good carbon foot

@leviandurai1232 I disagree. Vets for example who have lost 2 legs have to spend a lot of energy to walk and a powered ankle even makes a huge difference for them. Some time this year will be the first leg transplant in Spain.

@kingofallwhites This may be true, but it really depends on the age of the person. An older person would probably have a hard time because this is a pretty heavy set up compared to your average below knee prosthesis. Some people may be able to deal with the weight and it could be a great option for them

... I don't get it? I'm a below the knee amp. and I guess I don't understand why it's powered. If he still has his knee, then why all the michanics? No disrespect. Just cerious : )
