  • i do know you guys feel bad for this kid that has no taste in fighting scenes

  • compare this to sucker punch.. id say sucker punch is like 50 times better than this anime vid that i see in like every single movie

  • The animation is astounding.

  • Master yi vs fiona

  • anime creators should learn more from this fight, nowadays the anime's are leaning forward to superpowers and crap when in reality a good fight is shown on how good theyre physical fighting prowes is with either fists or weapons.. just sayin

  • this fight is ridiculously stupid. to stay in close distance in sword fight means 2 corpses. this is not how sword fights look.

  • The music was good

  • I disagree with you.

  • too many tears and snot)) Samurai Champlu or Afro Samurai better in fight scenes.

  • DAMEIT!! WHO WON?

  • i really dont like this anime sword of the stranger...this anime portrays a conflict between japanese and the chinese...but in actuality portrayed 2 non-japanese or chinese guys cross blades and the red hair dude won! so what was the story even about?

  • @Myoldnamesdontwork

The story is basically : Find the little guy and gain access to immortality... oh and and in a cheesy conflict just to make it look less shallow.

  • then what is the point of having 2 foreigners fight in japan...make it even stranger is these foreigners without any past. one serving under opressive chinese army, 2nd just happen to cross path with the other without having any grudge or obligations...putting their lives on the line.

the title say sword of the stranger? so i am guessing the two foreigners are the strangers? makes no fucking sense. this whole anime except the fighting scene is crap.

  • @SoapMacTavishh I disagree, it's about a men who will not follow orders and it revolves around the plight of little helpless children. It's quite deep.

  • @Myoldnamesdontwork

The blond is in it for the fight and only cares about the fight and is willing to anything to fight (Much like Zaraki Kenpachi for example). The other guy (The hero) is here by accident I suppose... But yeah, like I said in the description, the movie is really nothing special. They didn't even explain why the kid is needed for the immortality. Lazy writing? or just an excuse to sell an anime with great animation? Who knows !

  • wow omg, ive never seen this film and know nothing about it but that was Epic!...

The animation and the music was beautiful and had me really drawn in!

though can someone tell me what happened, who won did the blonde hair guy get killed or the other guy?

I might just have to check this film out, does anyone recommend it? :O

Cheers and thank you! ^ ^

  • @RayZ0RBlad3 yah, thats not better, Superpowers don't make a good fights scenes and it is how SoapMacTavishh said: massacre but well animated. The best fight for me is the last one from Shigurui. Really bloody done after a few seconds....

  • he who lives by the sword, must die by the sword. thats the code of a samurai

  • tbh I couldn't even get into this fight scene. The music probably is what held me back the most, but everyone has their own opinion on what the best fight scene is. Trying to convince someone to change their taste is impossible. For the uploader this is the best fight scene ever. For me, no.

  • this is wat swordfighting is.. using pure skills... epic

  • enyone who says this isnt awesome is retarded

  • The Mew vs Mewtwo fight was better /trollface

  • @FALCO64125 Agreed. Hahahah XD!!!!

  • Name of this song please?!?!

  • AWEESOME! GOSH BEST THING I HAVE EVVVEERR SEEN COMPARED TO Trinity Blood

  • I love this music!!

  • great but not the best

  • @NeighborHoodBoyz1 i'd like you to show me something better....

  • So... who won?

  • It was well animated, but that's about all I got from it. I don't know the characters, the story or any background, so the fight had no impact for me. Judging it from just the fight, it was good, but not great. All in my opinion, of course.

  • this was good not like using those magic powers in other animes thats not epic

  • horrible i don't like it but the music is okay

  • wow this video is sick,im gonna watch the movie when i get the chance

  • thumbs up if u think the blonde guy is a boss

  • Best sword fight ever I'll grant you sure, but I too am not going to say this is the best ever period.

  • sword of the stranger ftw..

  • i wouldnt go as far as best but it was REALLY REALLY good

  • @2200965

I'd like to see something better

  • @SoapMacTavishh htt[remove]p://w[remove]ww.youtube.c[remove]om/w[remove]atch?v=cwbK[remove]_Sx8RA

Why so many removes? because youtube's getting smarter.

  • @RayZ0RBlad3 not working, just give me the code after watch?v=

  • @SoapMacTavishh "cwbKi_Sx8RA" I won't be suprised if you don't like it, I simply have watched every episode, TWICE (which is like 300+), Gintama has a wonderful mix of comedy, drama, parody, and samurai. Which ocassionally show some lovely fight scenes. Which gives people material to work with for AMV like this: "M8riLwnCVOw"

  • @RayZ0RBlad3

It's not that I don't like it but it's not really a fight. It's more like a massacre that is well animated than an actual fight.

  • @SoapMacTavishh Nu,nu,nu,nu this is more of a massacre for gintama: watch?v=2Bl0SPjhRns

    You'll wtf at the ending.

  • @RayZ0RBlad3 link not working

  • @SoapMacTavishh

Spike Vs. Vincent on Cowboy Bebop the Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

    *Waves Arms!*

  • @SoapMacTavishh @SoapMacTavishh Mugen & Jin vs. Kariya Kagetoki (Samurai Champloo), Spike Spiegel vs. Vincent Volaju (Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door), Hiruzen Sarutobi vs. Orochimaru Minato Namikaze vs. Tobi (Naruto Shippuden), Konoha Shinobi Team 10 + Kakashi Hatake vs. Hidan + Kakuzu (Naruto Shippuden), Naruto Uzimaki vs. Pain, Sasuke Uchiha vs Itachi Uchiha, Ichigo Kurosaki vs. Sosuke Aizen...

    I can keep going.

  • @SoapMacTavishh

    Bdz5JuF0rBU ;)

  • @yoveoelmundo blocked in my country, tell me the name of the thing and I'll ''Find'' it :p

  • @SoapMacTavishh

    try with this: o-lCLgN9rfc

  • Good fight! I swear you don't see enough of these kinds of fights in most mainstreams like Bleach & Naruto! It always starts off really cool, but then it gets extremely annoying & drawn out with all the stupid talking that they do! It really kills the mood. Areas like that are where series like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, & Samurai Champloo truly accel as compared to Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, & DBZ! The flashy fantastical stuff is fun to watch, but it'd be better if the talking was minimized!

  • What a soundtrack. Seeing this at my university's anime society meeting blew me away.

  • just search naruto vs sasuke belive me that's cool as wel

  • @Kreysable but that was just who was more powerful, Naruto shoulda have won if he has a freakin demon inside him. my opinion ofcourse lol

  • @Kreysable

I've watched it 6 years ago. It certainly has amazing animation for a TV series.

  • We've all seen tons of anime. But never have I seen a scene of this quality (yes I've watched the full movie). Naruto vs Pain is probably the closest in terms in quality. Yes their are a thousand epic amazing battles in five hundred different anime but in terms in QUALITY, my humble opinion is best animated fight scene of all time.

  • epic battle. i bought this anime because a friend sugested it and ive seen it more than i like to mention. not only this fight but this whole movie was awesome. loved it.

  • uploader, you would get an F- in a critical thinking or analysis course. Copy of kenpachi's character? rofl, what a base analysis. this movie wasn't shallow at all and the character's were pretty indepth.

  • @rufia75 yo lol u seem to know ur shit.do u know any other anime that are animated like this? i know of ao no exorcist, naruto, bleach, samurai 7, samurai champloo, buso renkin, katekyo hitman, fairy tail, sword of stranger, d gray man, historys strongest kenichi, kekkaishi, shura no toki.. loll sorry knowing my luck there arent any i havent seen. fml

  • @jakach23 try claymore, trigun, chrono crusade, full metal alchemist, could try ikki tousen, i hear good things about gintama and gantz, black blood brothers, gungrave for starters

  • @rufia75 alright cool thanks ive seen full metal which is great and im tryin to start trigun im guessin it starts slow

  • both of them are so strong! my idols! and both of them have strong inner characters too!

  • samurai champloo is incredible

  • the chinese sword vs japanese sword lol

  • @MR6TUBE technically, japanese sword made in Japan vs japanese-type sword made in china, since Luo-Lang uses Wo-Dao. who cares though.

  • @Kotmail1973 then, all u hv to know is katana was developed from Tang Dao!!!!

  • @MR6TUBE sorry, I'm not sure about that. Swords existed at least in 3rd century in japan. and straight sword was introduced from china. later, japan started producing curved sword from straight one. I don't know if it is Tang Dao or not.

I'll leave it to historians. Let's not talk about which is better or which is the original.

  • 1:48 Mugen? #SamuraiChamploo :0

  • Lol unnecessary flipping away!!!!!!!!

  • In my opinion -- best fighting scene in exsistance

  • DAMN WHY DID IT STOP THERE!!!!

  • @fallenrose83

Because there are no more fighting after that.

  • @SoapMacTavishh I know but WHO DIED!!!!!

  • @fallenrose83

    Blond guy lost the fight

  • @SoapMacTavishh

    Ahh ok thanks

  • man i just watch this fight and it just makes my day better

  • Lmfao, One piece, just thought I'd let you know that. :P

  • @stickemon

Shitty animation most of the times

  • u obviously havent seen many anime

  • @MrSuperLeeno

No example = your opinion is invalid

  • @SoapMacTavishh my opinion is not nor will it ever be invalid. furthermore its not just an opinion, its a fact. u have not seen all anime therefore u can not nor do u have the right to choose which fight scene is best. ill admit its an epic fight but it is not the best. i do not need an example to prove a simple and obvious fact. srry if i seem a bit bitchy.

  • @MrSuperLeeno

It is invalid. If you think there is something better, give us an example. saying ''you're wrong'' without giving proof is pointless. As long as no one shows me something better that this, it will remain the best fighting scene ever.

  • OBVIOUSLY NEVER SEEN NINJA SCROLL...

  • @psymgee

This is better than NINJA SCROLL

  • Last two episodes of Samurai Champloo say hi.

  • This is my favorite anime movie ever. I wish they would make a sequel. ;-;

  • Whats wrong with a good solid story (not over the top, not super unique), done very well? Its a samurai movie at its core, There have been redemption samurai stories way before kenshin, and it has a smoother plot than most of the type. Very strong character interaction. Add in the fact it has some of the best animation (its hard to believe some of it is hand drawn) and choreographed fights in anime, you just gotta sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

  • This is how a battle should be fought. One on One, the strength and skill of one warrior against another. An honest fight, no trickery, no reinforcements.

There is no excuse in the end when the better fighter finally claims victory. If only all battles could be like this one.

  • are you fucking serious? *walks out*

  • That's cool

  • I dont know what this faggy Samurai-X stuff is about, all I know is the Sword... of the Stranger. Honto ni*

  • @DunkleMaterie117

Samurai X is the best samurai anime/manga ever made

  • @SoapMacTavishh and the thing is the main character isn't and doesn't consider himself as a samurai..

  • niiice

  • well in reality, that chinese sword would break when used against a two handed blade such as the katana. especially the katana.

  • @superbrainification ...but, it did break...

  • @geohound345 the katana broke. not the dao.

  • @superbrainification Youre an idiot when it comes to swords and metallurgy in general.

A piece of advise: dont act smarter than you are.

    1) Katana is not a two hand sword.

    2) The Nihonto forging methods are inferior to Chinese (they were originally Chinese but while Chinese started using blast furnaces the Japanese did not). As such steel-wise the Japanese swords are actually pretty weak.

    3) Swords and Iron works in general were introduced to Japan from China.

  • Nihoto tend to have very high and uneven temper lines which results in flaw points. Dude to the absence of widespread metal armor use it was not as issue though, unlike in Europe or China where metal armor was common and such temper lines were unacceptable.

Katana is a symbolic sword more than a weapon. Its got into the pop culture as something near lightsaber like, in reality its far from it. Its a false myth, like many other things about Japan, Shinobi (aka Ninja) for instance.

  • And one more thing.

The actual forging process of Chinese and Japanese (and Korean) blades is absolutely identical. While the steel is of a higher quality the forging process doesnt change. The only difference is the temper lines being even and narrow in Chinese swords opposed uneven and wide in Japanese. Although historically the temper lines on Japanese swords were not as wide and patterned as they are now for example as nowadays its done for artistic purposes.

  • @Buuub08 Okay.. I may not have known about Chinese forging, but I will insist on the Katana being a two-handed weapon. Don't confuse the Katana with the Wakizashi. Anyway, by all accounts, the Japanese sword is still considered to be the sharpest of all swords. I've never even heard of the Dao.. Well at least not until I found this video.

  • @superbrainification The Katana is not classified as a pure two hand sword. Its short and light compared to two hand swords. Also note that the Katana is occasionally used with one hand not with both.

"Katana" is just the Japanese spelling of the Chinese word "Dao", both use the same Chinese symbol.

No one considers the Nihonto the sharpest, there is no such thing as "the sharpest" when it comes not only to swords but any blade because there is a point where its too sharp.

  • A sword that is too sharp will lose the edge very fast, it will simply chip off. The sharpness is just another myth spread by the pop-culture that is not actually based on anything. Its not sharper than any other decent sword or comparable edge hardness and blade thickness.

    Trust me on this one.

Japanese swords are great, but they are not the light sabers they are made up to be.

  • @Buuub08 Yeah but I've seen people test swords, like in a video that I just watched recently where these guys compared the effectiveness of the European long sword against the Katana and other swords etc2x... And of course Katana simply outclassed them all.

  • @superbrainification Its BS bro. Did they show any info of the swords? Like who made them, when, where and from what material? Ofc not. Fact is - all those tests are of commercially available replicas not of actual swords. Those "katanas" are as close to the real thing as your average kitchen knife.

There is no scientific reason for the katana to outperform other swords. Pop culture doesnt really care about science or being historically accurate though.

  • @Buuub08 Well that's good to know.. I'm still a big fan of the Katana. I may not know a lot of things about swords but I've never seen anything cut through things as clean as the Katana. The quality of the cut and what it cuts through already speaks for the sword. Thanks for telling me a lot of new stuff.

  • @superbrainification Im sword enthusiast as well, my family owns a nearly 100 year old katana, i dont recall the smiths name on the fly though.

Well, katanas are extremely popular and there are many myths around it. The issue with the demonstrations is that those are not katanas being used but only visual lookalikes made of modern alloys, they do not represent the real thing in any way. There are also real ones, true, but there is no comparison being done.

  • If you can link to a decent and objective comparison video, id be very thankful.

BTW, just for the record - swords dont snap like shown here. Its actually extremely difficult to snap one as it can easily bend beyond 90 degrees without taking a set and like 180 before snapping IF it snaps at all, most likely it will just set (permanently deform). Swords are highly resilient, its the main characteristic of a good sword.

  • @Buuub08 It is possible for swords to snap like in the video. They don't portray it realistically enough but where an indent has formed from two blades crashing, by applying roughly 200kg of force behind it will cause a sword to snap. This is especially in the case of Katanas for their backs are made of soft metals in comparison to other swords for example, the chinese sabre as seen in the vid. (It's not very accurate, it's an anime after all)

  • @Bip7287 Not really. In fact the soft core of the Katana actually is what keeps it from snapping. Under loads it will permanently deform (bend) not snap. Snapping swords is extremely difficult. For that the metal has to be very rigid and hard instead of soft and flexible. Swords CAN snap, but its not something you will see all to common as any decent sword can easily flex to 90 degrees and beyond regaining its original shape almost instantly. It is an anime after all, yeah.

  • @Buuub08 I've seen a fair bit of both, bending and snapping. It is true though that the soft metal helps reduce snapping chance. I find it ingenious and bold to use soft metals as core for swords. While it does reduce overall integrity to some extent, it does protect the wielder in the chance that in a fight, pressure is applied on an indent. One thing I find rather funny is the way the Katana blade snapped in comparison to how the Chinese sabre snapped. Should've been reversed haha

  • @Buuub08 and the ingeniuos trick. clay a hot furnace and cold water. cooling the extremely hot metal at a fast pace is what causes the molecules to contract rapidly. i understand the science behind it which makes me back you up. when i was 15 a friend and i intrested in swords alone fought and trained. long story short i bought 2 katanas from the flea market and took them outta their handles. a cheaply made sword is never welded..those katanas had no curves they had straight backs so the shock

  • @punksk8erownzor LMAO. Kiddo, you are going to tell me how Katanas are made? LOL, no offense but i have been at an authentic forge too many times to count. All my blades are custom made.

You didnt buy any Katanas, what you bought were lookalikes. A real Katana is considered a national treasure by the Japanese government, obtaining them is extremely complicated, there are less than 200 people certified to make them, and you are looking at about 10 grand for the certificate alone.

  • First of all a Katana is curved by definition, lack of curve means its not even a Katana lookalike/replica. Straight single edged swords are called Chokuto in Japanese.

Who in the world practices with metal swords in the first place? Way dangerous.

Btw, the "indigenous trick" is not indigenous but Chinese. Although by the time the Katana appeared that trick was already obsolete for nearly 800 years.

  • @Buuub08 was vibrant and probably rang through the swords like a bell. on the 10th rehearseal we were full speed both of the swords broke at the same time on the first strike which was us running at each other at full speed swinging with force. snapped in the middle the two of them did.

  • nanashi won xD

  • what's up with all these samura x comments. are you people blind? can you call this japanese swordsmanship? i swear they are using the katana like the chinese sword.

  • @superbrainification The blonde guy is chinese, he uses a dao not a katana and they switch swords at the end.

  • @geohound345 i knew there was something wrong..

  • @geohound345

I though the blond was a foreigner (European or some other shit)

  • Best Movie eva

  • reminds me of Nartuto vs. Sasuke except the characters in this vidio have switched personalities.

  • Samurai X is...deep. WTF?

  • @ReyLimo

    yes

  • @ReyLimo It is... Kenshin is one of the most well constructed and complex characters in the medium.

I disagree with the uploader, though. I think this movie was innovative in its themes and not shallow at all.

  • I own this movie. It's a very good one, but the Japanese to English subtitles are just atrocious. I saw it in theaters way back when, was a special one time viewing thing. It was much better then, when it was in English. (I usually prefer anime to be in the original Japanese, but this one was poorly translated.)

  • Never seen the movie, but that animation is simply gorgeous. Ta for the upload.

  • well badass but not the best

  • This was good

  • @MALSTRUMX Lets fight like that, ha ha

  • Who can help me?.. Not a big cartoon fan but really like Fma brotherhood.. What else has a story line thats just as creative with good action and interesting characters?

  • McTavish?? i have call of duty too xD SEAL Soup McTavish :P

  • This was a good fight scene very good. But I still like the one from Cowboy Bebop Movie. They may talk, but its more like what you would expect from a live action fight

  • This is the only anime fight where people DONT TALK!

  • Is this just a one time movie, or is there also anime serie/episodes of it ?

    LET ME KNOW PLEASE!! x

  • @BeAlmighty1

    1 movie only.

  • :D this anime so good

  • i like how this fight has no talk scenes no major power ups nothing. Just a pure, straight out sword fighting to the death. Too awesome 5/5

  • that movie is bitching

  • who won

  • name of the movie..? and who fucking won..?

  • @TheJaymanutd name: Sword of the Stranger

and ofc the good guy wins.

  • so, who dies?

  • This isn't the best anime fight scene ever because the video keeps buffering.

  • Really good :o ;))

  • The blond hair guy won.

  • so...who won?

  • Man I really loved this movie recommend it to anyone

And though the antagonist's personality resembles Kenpachi

He is different simply because of the fact that he is much calmer most of the time

I don't really see the resemblance b/w Kenshin aand the protogonist though

I saw it a few years ago still remember it

  • @flaminjin1

Resemblance : A samurai warrior who, in the past, committed a terrible mistake that haunts him even today and for that reason he swore that he will never use his sword again/to never kill with a sword, also both have Red Hair (SotSs protagonist real hair color is red). In the case of Kenshin, he simply uses the reserve side of the blade, in the case of the protagonist of this movie, he simply sheaths it but he used it later. Not 100% similar, but still very resemblant

  • @SoapMacTavishh The thing is warrior with regrets are a theme of most animes in which samurai's are involved but what was different about Kenshin was that he flat out refused to kill even when the safety of the country was at stake

But on the other hans the protagonist of Mukou Hadan pulled out his sword as soon as it became necessary in order to save one child

  • @SoapMacTavishh If you havent noticed most anime have similarities, its done so that the viewer can relate to them. If you look at current anime and those of like 20+ years ago - same shit. Main character is typically around 12-16 years old (the age of the intended viewer), is different from others and thus often picked on or an outcast, often having non-asian features like hair or eye color, goes on a life changing journey and becomes a hero blah blah blah and so forth.

  • There are very few which dont fall into the cliche shonen box, and note that none had a huge success. People want to watch the same shit over and over and kids want to see characters they can relate. No sane 14 year old is going to watch Ghost in the Shell, he gonna watch Naruto though, especially if he/she has some social issues like being picked on at school.

  • @SoapMacTavishh

Never seen an Akira Kurosawa movie?

The personality Nanashi (No-Name) has is very similar to the character of Akira Kurosawa's recurring ronin yojimbo-for-hire protagonist actually: quiet, introspective, self-assured, would rather not be bothered by political problems, running from an unspecified crime, decent-hearted, and very, VERY skilled.

It's not surprising: Kurosawa's movies were made in the 60's, and a HUGE influence on samurai drama in Japan since then.

  • @SoapMacTavishh wrong kenchi doesnt kill, this guy kills without hesistation ,so what that he doesn use hes sword, taht doesnt change fact that he takes human life ,beside this character killed becouse someone ordered him to do so he simplie was worior who folowed orders ,kenchi killed becouse of hes ideals he belived that war and revolution eventualy bring peace and better tomorow for people ,latter he just become wanderer who swore never to kill and repay hes sins for killing

  • It was a good fight, makes me want to watch the movie...looked pretty epic.

  • It was epic but, not the best fight out there.. the samurai champloo ending with gene is better in my opinion.. or the ending of advent children with cloud and sephiroth

  • sooo who the fuck won???

  • @blink180heights i know right like wtf?

  • It's a good fight, but the music is damn near 40% at the most responsible for added effect.

  • no talk just a deep stare wish ever anime was like that instead of talk/fight/cry/forgive

  • the best fight scene are the one when they don ttalk instead just fight...too many scene in anime these days with alot of talking

  • Sword of the stranger was a good film in every respect.

Uploader seems to mistake a simple plot for the lack of it. The characters are also awesome.

  • Great Movie. Great Fight! :)

  • this was a recording of chuck norris master baiting

  • @TheVonjoker

lol you dont even know how to spell it

  • not a word was spoken in this scene... (unless you count the name at the end)

  • @cocnut20 in my opinion that can sumtimes be wat seperates a good scene from a bad one. if a character is talking in a scene like this it wood destroy a cuple good things about the scene. one; (i dont know how to use semicolons for my life btw) if a character talks it cood totally annihilate the intensity, grunts can however bring a scene to life. two; if there were a conversation going on now than it might end up screwing with finalizing feel to this scene.

  • Only problem with this scene is that you don't block with the edge of japanese swords. That's exactly why they broke.

  • wats the song playing?

  • That's very impressive

  • Holy shit.

  • No wonder I enjoyed this scene so much, it's familiar with FMA: Brotherhood ^.^
