Good picks. I went 9-2 overall, but I realize it should've been 8-3, it was a close fight but IMO Shogun won that match. Besides this one, the other fight that got my attention was Sonnen/Okami. I picked Okami to win that bout as well, but the way he got dominated for three rounds was just impressive. Good job by Sonnen.
Good call on Shogun, I made the same one. Too bad the CSAC judges are idiots. I think Shogun definitely at least won a split dec. I wasn't affected by Rogan's commentary. Also, I gotta say Rothwell was getting dominated, but Mazagatti's stoppage was ridiculous. Rothwell was in the middle of standing up. Bad calls all night.

Shogun busted Machida , Ribs Beat , Legs beat , face cut up
I think Machida will go learn how to defend against shoguns style as i think thats his only weakness . I dont think anyones gonna beat machida for a long time except mabye a shogun in a rematch
I thought Rogan steered casual fans the wrong way. Machida would have a flury, Shogun 1 good right, and Shogun would comment that Shogun got a shot in. However on my scorecard Shogun won a close fight. So props to you Karsten, for making a solid pick, you still didn't give insight into why you picked it, but I guess it was in your gut.
If you actually watch the replay Machida never landed any punch cleanly in that exchange, Shogun landed a left hook and a flush right hook. Watch the slow mo.
Ok, just saw the first round. Sounds like Joe Rogan is favoring Shogun. Machida threw a hard kick (with 1 min. left in the round) at Shogun's leg that made him buckle and Rogan shouts "Oh, hard kick by Shogun" (wrong call, wtf). Machida follows it up with another body kick and you hear Rogan's subdued call for Machida. Shogun nearly stumbles again after exchanging kicks with Machida and Rogan compliment's Shogun again. I give the round to Machida 10-9. Haven't seen the rest yet.
You seriously need to watch the fight again, considering Joe has the best seats in the house. Shogun countered Machida's kick at the same time and hit him with the inside leg leg kick as Machida threw his own. If you honestly don't know striking technique then don't talk about it like you do. You can still land a hard leg kick and slip on the mats after you land it.
Neo, I got a better seat than Rogan. He saw what he wanted to see. I watched that hard kick (1 min. left of 1st round) by Machida in slow motion. Rogan yelled "Oh, nice leg kick. Very hard kick by Shogun." Yeah, right.
sigh, need to watch that fight again. Looked like Shogun won, but hopefully after a second take I will see what the judges saw, cause that was some BS right thur.
I can't wait for your review. Anybody though this wasn't a robbery is a hardcore Machida nuthuuger or is blind. I went from jumping up and down at the end of the fight, to sitting in my seat stunned. Shogun is the best light heavy again, and Machida should hand over his title to him.
He isn't allowed to hand over the title. I know that Rua did better, but a rematch is good, because now both of them are going to try to finish it before the final HONK!
Worst UFC decision I have EVER seen. Absolute robbery. These judges weren't on point, off point or on anything else, they were just retarded. I can't wait to see your video and your thoughts on this.
Rua got absolutely robbed. Then audience and even Dana said to Rua afterward that he won the fight.
49-46 at the Least for Rua. Hell, I personally gave him all 5 rounds because of his pushing the pace and massively outworking Machida who did nothing but shuffle and counter every once in a while.
Will go down as one of the worst robberies in UFC history IMO. Not THE worst, but is certainly up there.
Hey mate, didnt have time to make a video, but here are my quick picks. Machida by KO Cain Velasquez by decision. Tibau by decision, but I really want Neer to win. Joe Stevenson by decision. Yoshida by subbing a gassed Anthony Johnson. Ryan Bader by TKO. Antoni Hardonk via submission. Hope Barry wins. Okami by decision, really hope he gets the finish though. Rivera by decision. Kyle Kingsbury by TKO or decision in one of the most boring fights. Chase Gormley by TKO.
i like rua more than machida just becuase he is more aggressive but if machida can put rua away tko than all lhws will have no chance against this hombre and machida trains with the best big nog and a.silva wich a.silva says he gets pissed when he sparres with becuase he cant touch him i mean a.silva not being able touch ya mane thats messed up m,ane h-town repping mane all day amore de rey 5656
Anyone can say, "the favorite will win" and in MMA will get 80% on your average day. Even higher if you don't do the undercard, which is where i get most wrong.
I am not too worried about my "record" over a couple hundred fights I am just above 75% and that's with picking a lot of fights that go against the grain.
And with the UFC bringing in a lot of "new" fighters, and putting them against each other, it's gonna get tougher.
i'm just saying that back in the day, your picks were more accurate because you didn't over analyze it. your instincts brought you to the right winners most of the time, but over time i think you are out thinking yourself. i say stick with your gut, it has proven to be excellent.
how can someone ranked 3rd in his category be placed on the premilinary?!?!? okami definately doesnt get the credit he deserves. Hopefully he'll stay injury free so he can finally get a shot at the title.
Also you are rong Machida is not an easy fighter to like, because of his style, casual fans wouldn't like him as much as they would like Rua and not onl casual fans, personally i think the stle is the best i've seen yet, fast, elusive, very accurate, no waste of energy, inteligent - a real proffesional mabye not as exciting at times but very effective, that's the future of MMA and that's how it shuld look, brawling is the past and it shuld stay there, people that really like MMA like Machida.
I'm sorry but even do SanVisClips is rude and he shulden't have insulted you he is right you dislike Machida, but it's ok your only human you can't be perfect, I say you dislike him cause you picked against him many times ever since the Ortiz fight, i also disagreed with you on Rua beeing stronger, i think Machida's strengt is very underated just look at the Ortiz fight again, Tito is one of the strongest lw's in MMA and Machida was just tossing him around...anywas... will see tonight...peace
Lyoto isn't my top 5 favorite fighters, but I respect what he can do. It isn't nuthugging, its respecting a guy that is undefeated and not taking any damage in doing so, the most dominant fighter going. No one wins are almost (quote Mortal Kombat) Flawless Victory like Machida has. Machida is a 5-1 favorite and does well against aggressive guys. If you put Machida on teh Spiders level, then there is no way you can pick Rua. If you don't, you will be proven wrong again. This guy is the RD.
I personally am not really sure if Lyoto is quite on Anderson's level. As for Shogun, in top form, I think he is very close to being on Silva's level. So on my view, its not really hard to understand why people would pick Shogun, even though I think Machida will prob win, though I don't thnk he is ging to win in the way he has done it in the past, since I think Shogun is the best fighter he has ever fought.
i would give shogun the power advantage also, punches, kicks and i think he has a stronger chin. shogun by ko rnd 2 lyoto fans are as obnoxious as gsp and brock fans. shogun will press the action and connect i refuse 2 believe he will let himself get picked apart(tito, thiago) lets see how lyoto handles leg kicks. shogun with the gas tank of pride days is what i want to see. good fight regardless. good vid bro.
Doliveij, I didn't hear much in your video as to why you think Rua will win. If you see this can you please explain what aspects of this fight lead you to pick him to stop Machida?
It's telling that he picked Rua without knowing how he could win.
I shouldn't be talking for him, so Karsten can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's not only that he's a huge fan of Rua but also (and perhaps even more) because he wants to shut up the "Machida fanboys." He has not been convinced that Machida is the man.
But Machida the rare exception who is as good as the hype, and I think this fight should finally convince Karsten. If Rua wins as he predicts, I'll eat my words.
But how is picking Rua shutting up the Machida backers? I don't get it. If you pick a wrong main event its against you and your knowledge of the sport. Picking Shogun does nothing in terms of shutting anyone up, only one that has that conrol is Shogun himself. You either believe Shogun will win or you don't. Like you said your pick is your pick, so I assume you BELIEVE Shogun will win this fight. If not you were wrong. We will see.
If I pick the main event, or any fight wrong, it has more to do with me picking YET ANOTHER fight wrong, rather than working against my "knowledge." I made a pick. I believe in it. We will see. If i am wrong, I am wrong.
No biggie.
I will be wrong probably 4 times on this card. In some way or another.
I agree, Machida is the man! Lyoto's focus and discipline is a true testament to his art. He wants to fight Lesnar because deep down he knows his technique would prevail over brawn. He has fought at 220+ before and is deceptively strong. Anyways, you got to love the way he flipped over Sokoudjou with ease after getting tripped.
The only way to beat the Dragon, who is a Samurai at heart, is to corrupt and undermine his spirit. Make him feel weak and ashamed -- ply him with beautiful women.
Brock Lesnar cuts 50 lbs, I think since Rumble has done this before in a previous fight(s), he'll be able too have enough stamina to go through the fight. The other thing about Anthony Johnson is that he doesn't go to decisions, his striking coach Cung Le is a finisher and I think his mentality of finishing a fight standing has been bestowed upon AJ.
Shogun x Machida is one of the hardest fights to predict ever... but I think Machida will be able to pick him aprt in the first rounds and get a late.. 5th round tko.......
If they brought in all the Pride fc fighters then we would have a ufc mw champ ex pride fighter a lhw champ ex pride fighter and you know who Im talking about... a ufc hw ex pride fighter...I rest my case...
Yeah my heart wanna go with Shogun cause since I was in japan back when Pride was running, I became a total Shogun fan, but my logic and instinct tells me to go with Machida!
Anyways I dont think Ive been this pumped for a fight in freakin aaaaaaaages.
And who the hell said some retard crap about Pride figthers not doing well in the UFC???
Do you realize that A.Silva was a Pride figther??
Do you realize Machida fought in Pride and that he at least parcially was forged in Japan!?
Machida by tko, shogun will get tired chasing...Overall I would not BET on this fight! I am a huge Shogun fan, but fighters that come from Pride do NOT do well in the UFC? Maybe because of them Death Foot Stomps?
I like Ben Rothwell in this fight! Cain is very light for a heavy weight? Unless he does the same thing in the Check Kongo fight. I say Ben Rothwell by TKO!
Thiago SIlva had the right idea... you have to push forward BUT you also need to throw punches or at least keep your hands up. Shogun will do a better job at that but Machida is going to counter his way to a win... either decision or late stoppage.
Realistically, none of us know which Shogun will show up or how he'll perform. One half-decent showing in a quick fight against Lidell doesn't give us much to go on. I agree that Shogun has to get close to have any chance at winning, but I don't see that happening. All things considered, I'd pick Machida.
My picks: *Machida* (I'll be very impressed if your underdog pick comes through on this one, I just don't see it) Velasquez Tibau Stevenson Yoshida Bader Hardonk Okami *Kimmons* *al-Hassan* *Struve* The four picks where I differ with you have asterisks. I have a Bodog parlay on Stevenson and Bader, so those guys better win. For the next MMA event I'll pick first.
Machida looked like crap in that fight? Sorry, what fight were you watching? He completely embarrassed Hoger, damaged him often without taking so much as a single hit. And Hoger, though not a contender, was no slouch at that time.
Anderson will never fight Machida, so it's a moot point (though if they ever did fight I would pick Machida, as even Anderson admits that Machida got the better of him in sparring).
nobody at LHW can take out Machida now, and his style is perfect to counter Rua.
I've heard it too. It was from Anderson Silva in an interview. But info like that means NOTHING. I hate when people use a fighters humble comment and complimentary words about a friend and training partner, and then use it in their own arguments.
Another complimentary quote people like to use, are those from GSP's camp. And now they say, "GSP can take down LHW's because his Evans and Marquardt said so."
BS. It's training.
Now, it may happen, but it shouldn't be used as ammo.
I agree with you... but Anderson also said the same in what is was supposed to be a "serious portuguese interview" before Machida x Evans fight.... he said something like this "I have now doubts Machida will be the champ.. I have never fought anybody better than Machida on the stand"... and some things like all the time he tried to catch him.. he ended up with new bruises in his face.... perhaps is like you said.. only humble comments about a friend... but that really caught my atention
Have you heard Anderson make ANY admission of inferiority about ANY other fighter? He is often humble, but he wouldn't be saying that if he didn't mean it. Also in one interview when he reiterated that he would never fight Machida, he said something like "anyway it would be a very tough fight for me." I'm not saying this proves anything, but Silva is not as humble with regard to any other fighter besides Machida, and that says a lot. It's crazy to think Anderson would be a clear favorite.
as for GSP, alright I know we've disagree on this but Thiago Alves is humongous for a WW and has good takedown defense and GSP took him down at will. There is no better wrestler in MMA. I have no doubt GSP would be able to score takedowns against the majority of the LHW division, which of course is not to say he would win. Perhaps not against the very top guys like Machida, Evans, or Rampage, but he would be able to take down most others. I do think Evans' comments count for something.
Rampage Jackson, Henderson, Franklin, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Jon Jones, Ryan Bader, Vitor Belfort, Matt Hamill, Keith Jardine (maybe he has a chance), Soszynski etc.
Come on, man. If he can score takedowns in fights against 205ers, why is he cutting to 170? Why not just fight in shape at 185 and clear the division?
He cuts for a reason. He walks at 190. LHWs walk 40 pounds heavier.
How can you think he'd have no chance taking down Soszynski, Jardine (ok you admitted he has a chance because you probably realize there might be an interview out there with Jardine admitting as much :), Belfort, or Franklin?
The other guys you listed, yeah, he probably couldn't take them down in a fight. But that does not represent the majority of the division and I said that he could take down the majority of the LHW division. You had made it sound like he'd never take down a LHW fighter
I know he cuts for a reason, the reason being he's clearly the best WW while at MW there are some guys that he's not clearly better than (only because he's smaller). Of course it makes sense for him to fight in the division where he'll have a higher chance of being champion. That doesn't mean that he couldn't get takedowns against the majority of light heavyweights and the vast majority of middleweights. Just my opinion, but I think the fighters who train with him honestly believe it too.
I love your videos, but by now someone as intelligent as you should realize that Machida *is* The Dude, and has been for a long time. I pegged him to win the title as far back as his first UFC fight vs Hoger. Rua is not the guy to beat him, and stylistically I think it's a bad match-up. IMO, no one in the LHW division can take him now. If Machida gets his wish for five defenses followed by a fight with Lesnar, then and probably only then would I pick against him. Machida by TKO, round 3.
where have u been dawg?,lol, for the predictions, valasquez by tko 1 or 2 rd,for the ME,man! I just don't see how shogun gonna do to win that match, machida seems invincible,so i must go with machida,by ud or tko 2 or 3 rd.
So you're a psychic I take it? Granted I think machida will probably win (I'm rooting for shogun though) but I'm not counting shogun out. When you compare shogun to the rest of the guys at light heavy, he has the best chance against Machida.
I don't have to be psychic to know this. I think Shogun is good too. I like the way he did Chuck in his last fight. I just don't think he's going to win.
that dosent matter i think he is not as aggresive as he used to be,and he seems alot slower too. i dont think those injuries really made such a big deal as people presume.
I think its a good thing hes not fighting in that wildly agressive style, in the long term it hurts the fighter, just lookat Wand and Shogun's brother. As for his speed, I would agree he appears to just a little less quick, but I still think that is due from his injuries.
Also I think you have something against Machida. Did you not pick against him in teh Rashad fight, he was favored in that fight as well. What do you have against Machida? They guy cannot get touched but some how Shogun is going to something him in the 3rd? Machida shrugged Tito off him like he was a doll, so Shogun won't get it to the ground, unless its a fluke scramble. Machida doesn't get touched on the feet. So how in your opinion is Shogun going to something him? crazy!
I don't deny that Machida has improved, I'm just saying shogun has the ability to to get it to the ground. Also, its an exaggeration that he can't be touched. Recently as his last fight he got tagged by rashed twice (the first being a good shot). Rashad's big mistake was that he tried to counter, which is not the way to go when fighting Machida.
Getting touched wasn't literal. He is the least touched fighter in the sport though. The only chance Shogun has is if he times one perfect and KOs him. He won't out fight him. Rashad didn't even try to take him down and Tito was thrown off and actually taken down. Shogun has a slim chance of executing a takedown. Nothing in MMA is a lock, but I see nor heard any reason to logically pick and think Shogun will win.
It will be really hrd to take him down and Shogun prob won't, I'm just say its in the realm of possibility. And I give him more than a punchers chance. I think it would be smart for Shogun to attack Machida's legs.
C'Mon man. I love your videos, but the Shogun pick is just stupid. I no what you are saying about what you feel and what you think, but you don't think nor feel Shogun is going to win, you just want him to. You broke them down, basically saying you don't know how Sho will get him in positions where he has the advantage, so how are you picking him to finish Machida. Is this a who you want to win video or who you think will win? Machida is -500 on the books. C'Mon man, lets get real here.
Nothing wrong, Shogun was/is a great fighter. But on the Books Machida is -500. If you don't bet I will put that in perspective. Anderson Silva was around -330 going into his fight with Forrest. They don't fight on paper, so who cares. But in his break down he gave very few reasons why Shogun will win. He said he wants Shogun to win, and that is why he picked him. I watch everyone of his videos because the dude knows what he is talking about, not because he picks who he wants to win.
All the online bettors have said Ben Rothwell is the best underdog bet but for some reason I can't see Cain losing, Rothwell is more experienced but the Kongo fight, might have opened Cains eyes to holes in his game. We already know hes a demon in the gym so who knows what he has learnt. So I think this fight were going to see the best Cain weve ever seen.
Online bettors get on Shogun I think hes the best underdog bet on the card. But if your betting against friends and your doing even money get on Machida.
The fights going to be a stand up fight from what I can see. Machida is more accurate and hes a great counter puncher to really aggressive guys, Machida can find sparring partners with mauy thai. Shogun can't.
Shogun round 3. Going with the heart son! hahahaha this guy is F hilarious!

For the UFC 113 rematch
I say Lyoto has 60% and Mauricio has 40% of chance of winning.
Now if there is a winner
LYOTO : 30% submission - 30% KO - 30% TKO - 10% decision
Shogun: 0% submission - 5% KO - 50% TKO - 45% decision

i would give shogun the power advantage also, punches, kicks and i think he has a stronger chin. shogun by ko rnd 2 lyoto fans are as obnoxious as gsp and brock fans. shogun will press the action and connect i refuse 2 believe he will let himself get picked apart(tito, thiago) lets see how lyoto handles leg kicks. shogun with the gas tank of pride days is what i want to see. good fight regardless. good vid bro.

Doliveij, I didn't hear much in your video as to why you think Rua will win. If you see this can you please explain what aspects of this fight lead you to pick him to stop Machida?
Thanks.
jonnyg4508 2 years ago
It's telling that he picked Rua without knowing how he could win.
I shouldn't be talking for him, so Karsten can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's not only that he's a huge fan of Rua but also (and perhaps even more) because he wants to shut up the "Machida fanboys." He has not been convinced that Machida is the man.
But Machida the rare exception who is as good as the hype, and I think this fight should finally convince Karsten. If Rua wins as he predicts, I'll eat my words.
elmatador404 2 years ago
Elmatador is correct on all accounts.
Especially the (perhaps even more part).
doliveij 2 years ago
But how is picking Rua shutting up the Machida backers? I don't get it. If you pick a wrong main event its against you and your knowledge of the sport. Picking Shogun does nothing in terms of shutting anyone up, only one that has that conrol is Shogun himself. You either believe Shogun will win or you don't. Like you said your pick is your pick, so I assume you BELIEVE Shogun will win this fight. If not you were wrong. We will see.
jonnyg4508 2 years ago
If I pick the main event, or any fight wrong, it has more to do with me picking YET ANOTHER fight wrong, rather than working against my "knowledge." I made a pick. I believe in it. We will see. If i am wrong, I am wrong.
No biggie.
I will be wrong probably 4 times on this card. In some way or another.
doliveij 2 years ago
If Shogun loses don't say "Oh I was picking with my heart rather than picking smart".
Hopefully it is a good fight, Shogun says he's 100% so there should be no excuses in this whole thing.
War Rumble!
jonnyg4508 2 years ago
I clearly pick and state "heart" in my video before the fight.
I went with what I went with. And I didn't say heart.
There is a lot of heart there, but it's not picking a "lesser" fighter and hoping. It's picking with .. well, both.
Good night of fights, regardless.
doliveij 2 years ago
I agree, Machida is the man! Lyoto's focus and discipline is a true testament to his art. He wants to fight Lesnar because deep down he knows his technique would prevail over brawn. He has fought at 220+ before and is deceptively strong. Anyways, you got to love the way he flipped over Sokoudjou with ease after getting tripped.
The only way to beat the Dragon, who is a Samurai at heart, is to corrupt and undermine his spirit. Make him feel weak and ashamed -- ply him with beautiful women.

mmastyle1 2 years ago 2
Brock Lesnar cuts 50 lbs, I think since Rumble has done this before in a previous fight(s), he'll be able too have enough stamina to go through the fight. The other thing about Anthony Johnson is that he doesn't go to decisions, his striking coach Cung Le is a finisher and I think his mentality of finishing a fight standing has been bestowed upon AJ.
Darkenveloped 2 years ago
Brock weights 300 pounds.
It's different.
It's like 1/6th of his weight. Instead of 1/4rth.
It;'s like when people come in overweight. 5 pounds over for a 155er is different then 5 pounds for a 225er.

Shogun x Machida is one of the hardest fights to predict ever... but I think Machida will be able to pick him aprt in the first rounds and get a late.. 5th round tko.......
but still.. great comments as always!! congrats!!

I love your videos but is not that difficult at all, to pick
aside from Joe and Spencer Fisher(very hard indeed)
these are the absolute right picks:
Machida( and i am a big fan of Shogun)
Rumble Johnson
Cain
Tibau
give me thumbs up if i win!

i'm praying for shogun to come in in good shape.
i'm expecting rothwell to win via desc.
i think ruble johnsen can win via gnp tko or des,
although if he gets sloppy yoshida could get the sub.

Do you realize Machida fought in Pride and that he at least parcially was forged in Japan!?
fumbaxt 2 years ago
there has been some standouts yes like hendo rampage and silva. but the majority of pride fighters found/find it hard to adjust. that's all
TheBlairSmithProject 2 years ago
Machida by tko, shogun will get tired chasing...Overall I would not BET on this fight! I am a huge Shogun fan, but fighters that come from Pride do NOT do well in the UFC? Maybe because of them Death Foot Stomps?
I like Ben Rothwell in this fight! Cain is very light for a heavy weight? Unless he does the same thing in the Check Kongo fight. I say Ben Rothwell by TKO!
Yoshiyuki Yoshida by submission 3rd round
Okami by tko 2nd round
Bater by tko
Kingsbury by ground and pound

Thiago SIlva had the right idea... you have to push forward BUT you also need to throw punches or at least keep your hands up. Shogun will do a better job at that but Machida is going to counter his way to a win... either decision or late stoppage.

Machida did a hit on Ortiz. No doubt, Tito's last fight was against Machida, and Dana deliberately choose Machida to end Tito's UFC career.

Realistically, none of us know which Shogun will show up or how he'll perform. One half-decent showing in a quick fight against Lidell doesn't give us much to go on. I agree that Shogun has to get close to have any chance at winning, but I don't see that happening. All things considered, I'd pick Machida.

how can u say machida look like a champ in the fight against hoger...he look like crap in that fight...it was really boring...and hoger didnt help...
machida in my opinion look great since the sokoujou fight....
ps: in my opion shogun is a bad matchup for machida...if someone is taking him down..it will be him...or anderson
themmavoice1988 2 years ago
Machida looked like crap in that fight? Sorry, what fight were you watching? He completely embarrassed Hoger, damaged him often without taking so much as a single hit. And Hoger, though not a contender, was no slouch at that time.
Anderson will never fight Machida, so it's a moot point (though if they ever did fight I would pick Machida, as even Anderson admits that Machida got the better of him in sparring).
nobody at LHW can take out Machida now, and his style is perfect to counter Rua.

where did you find the information on machida getting the better of silva in a sparring match?
MrISIB 2 years ago
I've heard it too. It was from Anderson Silva in an interview. But info like that means NOTHING. I hate when people use a fighters humble comment and complimentary words about a friend and training partner, and then use it in their own arguments.
Another complimentary quote people like to use, are those from GSP's camp. And now they say, "GSP can take down LHW's because his Evans and Marquardt said so."
BS. It's training.
Now, it may happen, but it shouldn't be used as ammo.
doliveij 2 years ago
I agree with you... but Anderson also said the same in what is was supposed to be a "serious portuguese interview" before Machida x Evans fight.... he said something like this "I have now doubts Machida will be the champ.. I have never fought anybody better than Machida on the stand"... and some things like all the time he tried to catch him.. he ended up with new bruises in his face.... perhaps is like you said.. only humble comments about a friend... but that really caught my atention
lucroft12 2 years ago
Have you heard Anderson make ANY admission of inferiority about ANY other fighter? He is often humble, but he wouldn't be saying that if he didn't mean it. Also in one interview when he reiterated that he would never fight Machida, he said something like "anyway it would be a very tough fight for me." I'm not saying this proves anything, but Silva is not as humble with regard to any other fighter besides Machida, and that says a lot. It's crazy to think Anderson would be a clear favorite.
elmatador404 2 years ago
as for GSP, alright I know we've disagree on this but Thiago Alves is humongous for a WW and has good takedown defense and GSP took him down at will. There is no better wrestler in MMA. I have no doubt GSP would be able to score takedowns against the majority of the LHW division, which of course is not to say he would win. Perhaps not against the very top guys like Machida, Evans, or Rampage, but he would be able to take down most others. I do think Evans' comments count for something.
elmatador404 2 years ago
LHW's He has NO CHANCE of taking down in a fight:
Dood!!!!!!!!!
doliveij 2 years ago
How can you think he'd have no chance taking down Soszynski, Jardine (ok you admitted he has a chance because you probably realize there might be an interview out there with Jardine admitting as much :), Belfort, or Franklin?
The other guys you listed, yeah, he probably couldn't take them down in a fight. But that does not represent the majority of the division and I said that he could take down the majority of the LHW division. You had made it sound like he'd never take down a LHW fighter
elmatador404 2 years ago
I agree with him not being able to take down Belfort. Randy commented once how Vitor is physically one of the strongest guys hes ever fought.
marbs0204 2 years ago
Comment removed
elmatador404 2 years ago
I know he cuts for a reason, the reason being he's clearly the best WW while at MW there are some guys that he's not clearly better than (only because he's smaller). Of course it makes sense for him to fight in the division where he'll have a higher chance of being champion. That doesn't mean that he couldn't get takedowns against the majority of light heavyweights and the vast majority of middleweights. Just my opinion, but I think the fighters who train with him honestly believe it too.
elmatador404 2 years ago
I love your videos, but by now someone as intelligent as you should realize that Machida *is* The Dude, and has been for a long time. I pegged him to win the title as far back as his first UFC fight vs Hoger. Rua is not the guy to beat him, and stylistically I think it's a bad match-up. IMO, no one in the LHW division can take him now. If Machida gets his wish for five defenses followed by a fight with Lesnar, then and probably only then would I pick against him. Machida by TKO, round 3.

So you're a psychic I take it? Granted I think machida will probably win (I'm rooting for shogun though) but I'm not counting shogun out. When you compare shogun to the rest of the guys at light heavy, he has the best chance against Machida.
marbs0204 2 years ago
I don't have to be psychic to know this. I think Shogun is good too. I like the way he did Chuck in his last fight. I just don't think he's going to win.

pelopota 2 years ago
lol What makes you think he now somehow sucks. Remember the two injuries he had which made have to take a year long hiatus of fighting?
marbs0204 2 years ago
that dosent matter i think he is not as aggresive as he used to be,and he seems alot slower too. i dont think those injuries really made such a big deal as people presume.
pelopota 2 years ago
I think its a good thing hes not fighting in that wildly agressive style, in the long term it hurts the fighter, just lookat Wand and Shogun's brother. As for his speed, I would agree he appears to just a little less quick, but I still think that is due from his injuries.
marbs0204 2 years ago
Also I think you have something against Machida. Did you not pick against him in teh Rashad fight, he was favored in that fight as well. What do you have against Machida? They guy cannot get touched but some how Shogun is going to something him in the 3rd? Machida shrugged Tito off him like he was a doll, so Shogun won't get it to the ground, unless its a fluke scramble. Machida doesn't get touched on the feet. So how in your opinion is Shogun going to something him? crazy!
jonnyg4508 2 years ago 3
Nakumara managed to get it to the ground with Machida. Its definitely not out of the realm of possibility for shogun to do it.
marbs0204 2 years ago
Like most all fighter Machida has improved. Improved a lot.
jonnyg4508 2 years ago
I don't deny that Machida has improved, I'm just saying shogun has the ability to to get it to the ground. Also, its an exaggeration that he can't be touched. Recently as his last fight he got tagged by rashed twice (the first being a good shot). Rashad's big mistake was that he tried to counter, which is not the way to go when fighting Machida.
marbs0204 2 years ago
Getting touched wasn't literal. He is the least touched fighter in the sport though. The only chance Shogun has is if he times one perfect and KOs him. He won't out fight him. Rashad didn't even try to take him down and Tito was thrown off and actually taken down. Shogun has a slim chance of executing a takedown. Nothing in MMA is a lock, but I see nor heard any reason to logically pick and think Shogun will win.
jonnyg4508 2 years ago
It will be really hrd to take him down and Shogun prob won't, I'm just say its in the realm of possibility. And I give him more than a punchers chance. I think it would be smart for Shogun to attack Machida's legs.
marbs0204 2 years ago
C'Mon man, lets get real here.
jonnyg4508 2 years ago
Please take Machida's nut sack out of your mouth! Shogun has a good chance of winning and he's going with his heart, whats wrong with that?

PoppinOtang 2 years ago
