Super jam of Police And Thieves! I've had this set on disc for some time so it's great to see the visual and audio combined. Much respect to all the fans esp @Aristotlekh for a wealth of footage! Best vids on the tube!
just gets better with age. wonder where it might have gone if he hadn't cashed in his chips. its like hendrix, joplin, morrison, loads more stuff to get done..plant a tree instead . save the world..! !
the wall of sound is essentially walls of speakers that are in accord with each string on the bass. Phil Lesch of the Grateful Dead actually designed it himself and used it for his six string bass. The reason for this was so that it would seem like different notes were coming from different sides of the room. it creates a very trippy effect. there is no wall of sound demonstrated here.
bro, spoke with a musician friend of mine, and he says you have no clue of what you're talking about., and the end of this song is very much a "wall of sound".
That, and the greatful dead sucked...their fans have to be drugged in order to survive the suckyness.
The Wall of Sound consisted of eighty-nine 300-watt McIntosh model MC 2300 solid state and three 350-watt McIntosh model MC3500 vacuum tube amplifiers, driving the speakers with a total of 26,400 watts RMS. This system projected high quality playback at six hundred feet with acceptable sound projected for a quarter of a mile, at which point wind interference degraded it. The Wall of Sound was the largest portable sound system ever built.
and FYI i wasnt trying to insult you or put you down. No offense to joe strummer or any other musician playing here, but they are not using the wall of sound in this video. Just because you have 6 or 7 people playing instruments and using "gang vocals" does NOT mean its the wall of sound.
not long before he died, joe played a smallish club in tokyo with with mescaleros. i thought about ditching work to catch the gig, but decided against it, thinking "i'll catch him next time."
without doubt, that is the single biggest regret of my entire life. please don't chastise me for this, i've already suffered enough...
i don't know much about today's wannabe sneer brigades, but they should donate 50% of their earnings to john graham mellor's favorite charities...an absolute giant.
Joe had more energy than a blue bottle on red bull and more passion for music than anyone I can remember - his legacy is immense - one of a kind - RIP.
police and theives GOD LOVE HIM. forever alive. AND Thanks to all who made these videos possible. Thank you soooo much. Something to pass on to my children.
if it weren't for me making my own discovery of the clash when i was 12 i probably would've been much older when i discovered reggae ... big ups joe ... big ups junior murvin

We know you had to take stuff to be able to listen to the dead, but still, everyone knows the wall of sound was made by Phil Spector in the 60ies.
It's a line up of guitars who follow chords and two basses in perfect fifths, percussion and echo mixed in...
