  • I was 13. What a sweet song. thank you so much for posting movejesslynnelo.

  • LOVE ELO!!!! I was in 6th grade when this was out...I played violin and SO wanted an electric blue violin or pink even. Ah, great music.

  • So that's what his eyes look like! lol

  • its a fookin orchestra!

  • Cool, They've played this on my local oldies station and I wanted to know what it was.

  • 77 the year I turned 21 ahhhhhhh

  • Whow, this reminds me of my cousin James skateboarding down North Laguna, Ledroit Street! and almost crashing! Brings back so many memories... LOVE ELO!!! Since I was a kid, I've always been hooked on 70's music :)

  • I love ELO...them and Supertramp...awespme!!!

  • Most underrated band ever I think. So many hits and such good music. Much like Nickleback of today....

  • these guys were amazing live, as were many bands......so why the lip synching on tv appearances? nothing sucks like seeing a band perform the studio version "live".

  • Seeing these guys in concert, electric chellos spinning, was a thing to behold...and HEAR..WoW

  • Who's the basist? The guy to Jeff''s left?

  • Jeff Lynn uses Ovation guitars, too! EVERY amazing musician of the 70's seems to have used one at one time or another! xD Awesome stuff. x)

  • I am a lifelong ELO fun. My daughter now a teenager also likes ELO. Thanks for posting this ausom video.

  • I play this music for my son now...he loves it too. :)

  • i love this song it is awesome

  • Steve Buscemi is hilarious

  • I never took ELO for granted; Jeff and his tearful cry in his gorgeous vocals, a delicious sound of doo wop, classical, and good ole rock n roll, and so epic! I love "So Fine" and "It's A Livin' Thing", and of course "Strange Magic", and so many others. It's just because they were a far cry from Led Zeppelin or The Who. Jeff Lynne and ELO were unabashedly making gorgeous pop tunes!

  • See "ELO rockaria" with Kelly singing the opera part live.

  • @Mooncut Kelly NEVER got the credit he deserved. NEVER! And now he is gone. I sort of hate Jeff Lynne a bit for becoming an egomaniac as the years went on. Yet, he is the genius and we would have none of these songs if not for him. Still.....

  • True musicians

  • Woah, NO GLASSES?! He came out of the womb with glasses.hahaha

  • I'm glad people are realizing what good music is all about!

  • great job, bro!!! (y)

  • Aahhh Telephone line♫

  • Masters♪!

  • I remember 1977, when the Zebra Killings, Patty Hurst, and the Symbeonese Liberation Army were in full force here in "the city?

  • A 3 beer buzz and some old 70's rr is all a 42/43 year old needs. I miss America!

  • I don't know and I don't care about the way you did it man, but from now on I am one of your fans, thank you for this master piece

  • ELO one of the most influential bands ever! just think that George Harrison, was Lynne's best friend and had a bunch of albums produced by him as well as being part of the Traveling Wilburies and producing also Tom Petty and many other fantastic artists...LONG LIVE ELO!

  • 12 Strings Guitar Is so awesome!!!!

  • @biggthree1 si haora me pregunto que marca sera la guirarra.

  • Como cuando era chico. La llamada famosa previa preparación de: Que le digo. Claro no había chat. De mis favoritas por los recuerdos.

  • Ladies, like my drumming? Ask for me by name! 2:28

  • This was the first 45 I bought. It was pressed in green vinyl. I was 9 years old. I love this song!

  • buen tema con el cual me siento identificado

  • I miss Hugh Alexander Mcdowell...great name! I wish he would get together with ELO and have a reunion concert....I sure as hell would be there, come hell or high water,....can u imagine,,,,,what a show that would be:) Love u Hugh!

  • ELO is the best band of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love that 12-string guitar. Great band.

  • My first concert ever and was a spoiler because not many lived up to their showmanship!!!

  • sometimes keeping it mono is better.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, this song means so much to me and I never thought I'd get to see it live since it was before my time, but when I hear it I think of my daddy so thank you so much

  • To think we took this music for granted in the 1970's and there was so much of the same quality. Now look at the shit we have to listen to.

  • @maxiboy666 ...you said it Max

  • @maxiboy666 Amen to that, Max. Embarrassing what the music business has become. :(

But hey, at least we can get all the old stuff from the net, right? ;)

  • @maxiboy666 i agree 100% with your comment !

  • This was when bands had real talent and musical expertise, not auto-tunes, back then you did not have the same technology you have today you earned your appreciation through your talent. Today's music and artists need to really look at history some are really good but others are sheer crap.

  • @whiterobin It would probably look better if the image wasn't horizontally stretched.

  • I think lady gaga is amazin and she is the best singer ever - Naked Lady Gaga. C0000M -

  • @comfortablepadd Does making an embarrassing spectacle of one's self onstage qualify a singer as being the best ever? Personally, I think Jeff Lynne is the best singer ever, but if it helps any, comfortablepadd, he was accidentally nearly electrocuted onstage during a very early ELO performance. ;-)

  • @no1elofaniknow ... or it MAY have been a Move performance ...

  • I am soooo glad that I was around and enjoyed the pure genius which is ELO.

  • omg he is so gorgeous

  • This song was so brilliant for it's time...sounds like something recorded in the early 30s with a maudlin atmosphere, very sentimental and quite nostalgic -

  • me hace recordar a una muchacha cuando bailaba esa camcion ...

  • Hey Bob Ross, can I have my wig back?

  • @MsDieseld It was the 70's, OK? Does the 'fro offend you or something? Do you expect the videos to be edited and Jeff Lynne's hairstyle changed to make it more fashionably "acceptable"? Stop being a snob!

  • @MsDieseld stupid

  • I love you Jeff...A Underrated music genius¡¡¡

  • My dad put me up on this music...WOW!! I love my dad a lot more!! This music is timeless!!

  • Oh wow - takes me back, caravan holidays in Weymouth as a spotty 14 year old with all the dress sense of a pubescent Jason King - all flares and waistcoat. Thinking I looked cool trying to stand out of the light to hide my spots while trying to work up the courage to ask some girl also on holiday. This song came on, and I took my chance, gingerly walked upto her, and stuttered a " wanna dance" only be told "f*ck off" by her cockney accent::) Still love this song though:)

  • @yeovil50 I woulda danced with you.

  • @TheBeatlesRoooock Thanks sweetheart...but believe me if you had seen my dress style at that stage of my life you would have run to the hills:). I looked like Austin Powers on acid:)

  • @yeovil50 Austin Powers is gear. :)

  • @TheBeatlesRoooock :)...well they were good days and thankfully the spots cleared off my face and the dress sense slowly improved - still wonder what the girl who told me " f*ck off" is doing now:)

  • @yeovil50 She's probably a mother and has a not-so-interesting job. Now I wonder if she remembers you. Well, I wouldn't forget anyone who dressed the way you dressed...

Spots are recentley starting to clear off my face, but I've dressed the same since I was 8 (Like a boy.)

  • @TheBeatlesRoooock Good for you - don't follow what others or the fashion police want or tell you to wear - be yourself, dress yourself and think for yourself and that is being unique and being you!

  • Jeff is a genius! No question!

  • i never seen jeff without shades

  • God this song takes meback to when I saw thwm in concert when i was abount 17.

  • Let it ring a little longer longer longer longer,,,,,crap voice mail.

  • That's not Jeff Lynn, Jeff would,nt be caught dead in public without his shades. He's been kidnapped in a disclosed location.

  • That's not Jeff Lynn, Jeef would be caught dead in public without his shades. He's been kidnapped in a disclosed location.

  • I wish the picture wasn't so horizontally stretched. Makes 'em look kinda fat.

  • Hasta se mizo un ñudo en el güergüero AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

  • no one wanted to do the high pictched "oh"

  • love elo takes me right back to when i was in school

  • @SuperMarcthomas Same here...i love their music..it`s part of my ipod ..collection.

  • I can remember the Midnight Special being on TV a lot when I was growing up back in the day, but for the life of me, I cannot remember ELO being on it, much less hosting it.

  • Besides the BeeGee's no one could harmonize better. Beautiful.

  • ...'Don't you realise the things we did, were all for real, not a dream. I just can't believe, they've all faded out of view.' Pure, pure class. Thank's Jeff for such beautiful lyrics/songs

  • Back when musician's had degrees and could do more than write great music. Boston is another one. Great, great music. E.L.O. had so many great hits. Many people didn't know who the band was and were surprised when they found out the a couple of their favorite songs were this same band.

  • How many guys play 12 string today? Jimmy page did also.

  • Such a great underrated band!!! I have all of thier shit!! All of these guys had master's degrees in music. Saw them live in 1980, best light show I have ever seen, and I have been to many, many concerts!! They don't make music like this anymore!!

  • @rickyrat78 yo yo yo,great words amigo,me live by his house in Birmingham, have met him often,my best friend was in his class at school, get that!!!!

  • So Mellow. I wish more music could be like this.

  • Now I see where Green Day got there chorus melody from for their song, "21 Guns".

  • Great comment, I see the same thing, read my other post on here about ELO, this band was the shit!!!

  • @skemeny yeah !!!

  • @skemeny they actually credit bowie on that melody hehe, but yeah this does sound similar aswell.. check out all the young dudes by bowie. well mott and the hoople was the band name at the time

  • Thanks a lot. I hadn´t seen this video before !

  • Do woop.. one of the best songs ever.

  • Jeff Lynne is a musical genius! I agree that Kelly really complemented the vocals and also love seeing Jeff without the sunglasses!

  • @ambermum Kelly was astounding on vocals -- better than most female backup vocalists. An amazing musician and though I grew up with ELO, I didn't realize it was Kelly who had sung all those high falsetto parts. R.I.P. Kelly, we miss you!

    ~ jfh

  • @rafro007- Kelly was amazing in everything he did, his vocals and his bass... I am so glad others have recognized his amazing talent.....

  • just heard this song for the first time a couple of months ago, and is now one of my all time favorite songs! great, great vocal performance

  • Such a damn good song. Very sad, and touching. That's why I love it so. Thanks for posting this!

  • Great job. May seem silly but I just love watching these rare clips of Jeff without his sunglasses on. Thanks for putting this up.

  • i agree with you

  • They work together so well its easy to kind of not notice Kellys contribution, but I really think he gave Jeff great vocal support. These songs wouldn't have been the same without him. Wild West hero is a great example of this too

  • Amen to that

  • Telephone Line is the song Jeff said he'd play at every ELO concert when asked on a radio show back when he was promoting Zoom back in 2001.

  • I agree with Jr..growing up in the 70's and 80's--was all about the music.

  • wow Jeff Lynne is a GENIOUS

  • Wow! Jeff and Kelly didn't seem to be missing many meals here, huh? I remember watching this on Midnight Special. Yes... I'm old.

  • Looking back, I'd have to say I'm a lucky fucker for growing up during the 70's. This is music.

  • @JRCrowley You and me both JR! Cheers to the 70s the best times of my life!

  • Best sound -great !!!!!!! Hi i love ELO

  • Awesome. You do good work.

  • Certainly brings back memories, thanks for uploading:)

  • Nice archive restored

  • Excellent stuff. I bet that crowd is chinese.

  • Funny! Actually the audio was from the same performance as the video but was actually longer and higher quality than the video's original audio.

This was from a Midnight Special in 1977.

  • @movejefflynnelo I was 12 and it was a Saturday night, this show was on as that was what I did every week, watched while I was ironing my shirts to wear to school the following week. Been in love with this band since. They've been with me through two divorces and the death of my third and final husband. Their songs will be with me when I go on, too.

  • @trap0001 crowd audio was most likely boosted to make the small studio audience seem as big as that of a concert hall for the TV production.

  • @dogboner2001 ...do you care?...really...not me bubba...im diggin this w/ my whole head

  • @vaarluukl just an observation based on "trap0001" s comment above...np, it's all good...

  • Great song and great job! Thanx! :)

  • thanks for the video and your work on it..
